You Need To Know Wonderful Longer Tweets Are Here

Longer Tweets Are Here Now!

Longer TweetsThe talk has been around for  some time now about longer tweets coming. Today is the day Twitter is allowing longer tweets in the Twitter stream. Twitter is no longer counting images, usernames in replies, media attachments such as GIFS, videos, photos and polls towards the 140 character count. The Twitter character count will be the tweet itself – not the username and media along with it. The count will still be at 140 characters to stay within the SMS message count but it will allow for more of the extras we have come to love.

Longer Tweets Coming In Stages

According to sources at the Verge the longer tweets in our streams may happen in stages, not all Twitters users may see it at once. All that is known is that Twitter will kick this off today Monday, September 19, 2016. It may come in stages so it will be interesting to see how it plays out on Twitter. Twitter has done this in the past with their new updates. They tend to roll out with desktop first or mobile first. They may start with verified users first and then roll out to the Twitter masses. Most people on Twitter seem to welcome the change.
