Why 11 Commenters Really Rocked it in August

Who Are Your Top Commenters?

commentersDo you ever wonder who comments the most at your blog? Or do you know because they are always reading and commenting on each post? There is a new plugin made by Enstine Muki that does just that for you. It’s quite  easy to set up and go. You can put the commenters in a blog post like I have here below. Each featured commenter is linked to their blog too. So you are sending extra appreciation their way. You can also send a monthly email to thank your commenters. You know how important a thank you in blogging is today. I was amazed to see who ended up in the top feature this month with 3 or more comments. It’s a little different than my sidebar widget. My sidebar widget takes the past 30 days. This plugin uses the month to date. A slight difference.

Why My Comment Authors

Many of you who have been readers here for a while know I don’t like adding many new plugins. I almost lost the entire website to a plugin. Some plugins don’t go nicely with those already installed on your WordPress. But this one plugin really looked neat. I knew the developer Enstine Muki from his blog EnstineMuki.com who is a web developer. I knew if I had any issues setting it up he would be right there. And that he was. I was trying to figure out how to get the html version so I could insert into the blog here. See the set-up below. You must choose HTML to create the file to insert into your blog.

More MyCommentAuthors Options

  • Page Breaks If you have a lot of commenters you may want to feature you can set up page breaks. Enstine took this suggestion from another blogger. He also took my suggestion to add the photo images of the commenters.
  • Email – You then have other options if you want to send out a thank you as an email. A nice way to show appreciation for those that come back to yourblog and comment time and time again.
  • All Time Best – There is another option to show your all time best commenters. This MyCommentAuthor widget works from the day your blog was created. You can view it via your dashboard – at the bottom left hand corner. It will look like this below:

Top All Time Commenters Excluding Admin Comments

Corina Ramos

I had to copy and paste to show this best commenters but since chatting with Entine he will add it in version 1.3. You can just drag and drop the widget and it will show top 3 – 10 (if you like) commentators on your blog since the history of your blog. He was excited about this new feature for version 1.3 coming soon

  • Hello Lisa, very good information, I’ll want to see my name on the list one day. Thanks for offering this for free and have a great weekend. Good Luck

  • Hello Lisa,

Enstine’s plugin, My Comment Authors is quite great, no doubts. That it would also drive traffic is not debate material. However, I refrained from installing the plugin simply because I’m already running too many plugins. As you know, too many, when it comes to plugins can be a very bad idea.

I would love to see you write about the traffic aspect of this plugin and how exactly it has helped you… this would help many other bloggers.

I he deave really liked the plugin he designed and has changed since the beginning with input from others. I do like his new site/network, nice that you don’t have to comment and vote as well on it. A true time saver. Thanks for coming by Philip and enjoy the rest of your week there.

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine creating a fantastic plugin didn’t he? It’s really nice to see who your regulars are and it gives you and idea of how much deeper you may want to engage with them.

I love what he’s doing! I’ve noticed that over the last few weeks he has been so focused for his community that he hasn’t blogged as much recently as he normally does.

I have assurances that won’t last forever, lol…. I know a lot of us miss his wisdom.

Let’s see if I can’t offer you a little more on your site via comments Lisa!!!!

Wow! I was on the top of the list of August, yeah! I like seeing the stats, but I certainly don’t really feel any pressure. I like your site and I visit because I enjoy what you have to say, and I always learn something new!

I love your photo for your gravatar. I think the change is as a result of dealing with one ‘stupid’ impersonator. Please pardon my language but it is really annoying seeing stealing someone else identity online.

All in all, I think Enstine has done a good job by developing this plugin of his.

Thanks so much for featuring this super group of commentators…and yep, thanks for putting my mug up there 😉

Awesome product by Enstine, and it underscores the basis benefit of commenting; if you show up in a ton of places, and make friendships with bloggers through publishing comments, and through also, sharing content, good things happen for all involved.

Look at the visibility that wonderful folks like Carol Amato are receiving through your kind post.

Readers will meet her, promote her, and yep, her network will expand, as will her new buddies’ networks. It’s a win-win, all the way around, if you’ll just spotlight bloggers through tools like these and through other means.

    Thanks so much Lisa.

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine has done a great job with this plugin. I saw that Harleena use the same plugin on her latest blog post as well. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I agree with Adrian a little bit in terms of display because I do think that a list view of human faces with a wide blank space on the left and right is not the best way to display. Probably, the table view which might make the plays a little bit slow, will still look better because it will use the empty space.

Have a great Friday and an awesome weekend!

  • Hi Lisa

Enstine’s done a great job with MyCommentAuthors. I downloaded it the other day after reading his post about the plugin.

I think I’d agree with Adrian. It would make sense to be able to show the commenters in a table. The column will look great in a sidebar but I don’t think it works so well in the blog post itself.

I’d be more inclined to include it as a monthly feature if that were the case. I guess I might be able to do something with the html though to make it work.

  • Hey Lisa,

I’m in third place for all around commenting? I’m not surprised that Mayura and Brenda beat me but I’m really surprised that I beat Cori and Brenda for commenting this month. I guess how that happened was probably because I came back and responded to your comment on your Disqus vs. CommentLuv Premium post. We may have chatted it up a bit more which probably added more in there.

I thought for people who don’t have the comment type widget in their sidebar that something like this could be helpful. I actually took mine down earlier this year for a few reasons but I still think it’s a good way to show appreciation to your commenters.

This was a very smart way to go and I’ve already told Enstine that he did a really good job creating this plugin. I don’t think I’ll be using it though because I like to thank my bloggers when they comment and they all know I’m always showing my appreciation for their support.

Thanks for sharing with us who made this list and I’m so thrilled to be on it. I love your blog Lisa so I always hope to be making this list. 😉

You have a great afternoon my dear.

I was surprised to see that this month I commented on your blog more than a commenting-champ like Ryan. There must be something wrong with me 🙂

Interesting plugin. Maybe Enstine will consider also a table-like display for blog posts. That huge column is appropriate for the right side widget, but it doesn’t look so nice when inserted in a blog post. What do you think, Enstine? 😉
Adrian Jock recently posted..Who Else Charges You for Unsubscribes? #EmailMarketingMy Profile

    • Hey Adrian,
      There are two options to display the comment authors on your blog posts;
1 – The gravatar display used here by Lisa
2 – The list display – look at the post I have attached to this plugin

I experimented between tables and List and found out that the table makes the post slower than the list. That explains why I opted for the list. So in the process of generating the html tag, you select between list and gravatar display

Does this address your point ?
Enstine Muki recently posted..[NEW!] July Report ~ 279 unique commentators, 642 commentsMy Profile

      • Thank you for your explanation, Enstine. I would still prefer a table display that includes gravatars – sort of FB like box – because in my opinion it looks way much better than a huge column surrounded by tons of white space.

I understand your point regarding the fact that it makes the post loading slower, but I still prefer it. To tell you honestly I don’t care if the page is loaded slower but only the search engine bots notice it. As for the readers, I guess they won’t notice the slower loading because the gravatars won’t be displayed above the fold. Isn’t that so? So until the reader reads the text posted above the fold, the pictures have enough time to load. The readers aren’t bothered, they don’t have to wait.

Of course, this is what I would prefer. It doesn’t mean that it’s the best choice, or that other users would like it. You have to build your plugin not based on one opinion, but based on what the majority of the users would like to use 🙂
