Why 11 Commenters Really Rocked it in August

Who Are Your Top Commenters?

commentersDo you ever wonder who comments the most at your blog? Or do you know because they are always reading and commenting on each post? There is a new plugin made by Enstine Muki that does just that for you. It’s quite  easy to set up and go. You can put the commenters in a blog post like I have here below. Each featured commenter is linked to their blog too. So you are sending extra appreciation their way. You can also send a monthly email to thank your commenters. You know how important a thank you in blogging is today. I was amazed to see who ended up in the top feature this month with 3 or more comments. It’s a little different than my sidebar widget. My sidebar widget takes the past 30 days. This plugin uses the month to date. A slight difference.

Why My Comment Authors

Many of you who have been readers here for a while know I don’t like adding many new plugins. I almost lost the entire website to a plugin. Some plugins don’t go nicely with those already installed on your WordPress. But this one plugin really looked neat. I knew the developer Enstine Muki from his blog EnstineMuki.com who is a web developer. I knew if I had any issues setting it up he would be right there. And that he was. I was trying to figure out how to get the html version so I could insert into the blog here. See the set-up below. You must choose HTML to create the file to insert into your blog.

More MyCommentAuthors Options

  • Page Breaks If you have a lot of commenters you may want to feature you can set up page breaks. Enstine took this suggestion from another blogger. He also took my suggestion to add the photo images of the commenters.
  • Email – You then have other options if you want to send out a thank you as an email. A nice way to show appreciation for those that come back to yourblog and comment time and time again.
  • All Time Best – There is another option to show your all time best commenters. This MyCommentAuthor widget works from the day your blog was created. You can view it via your dashboard – at the bottom left hand corner. It will look like this below:

Top All Time Commenters Excluding Admin Comments

Corina Ramos

Adrienne
201 comments
I had to copy and paste to show this best commenters but since chatting with Entine he will add it in version 1.3. You can just drag and drop the widget and it will show top 3 – 10 (if you like) commentators on your blog since the history of your blog. He was excited about this new feature for version 1.3 coming soon

  • Hey Lisa,
Glad to be back here, and gradually bouncing back to blogging.
This plugin is back as well 😉

Hope you are set for a wonderful weekend

  • Hello Lisa, very good information, I’ll want to see my name on the list one day. Thanks for offering this for free and have a great weekend. Good Luck

    • Hi Itender, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. I hope to see your name on this list too – I hope to do a new one in the next year. You are welcome and have yourself a great day!

  • Hello Lisa,

Enstine’s plugin, My Comment Authors is quite great, no doubts. That it would also drive traffic is not debate material. However, I refrained from installing the plugin simply because I’m already running too many plugins. As you know, too many, when it comes to plugins can be a very bad idea.

I would love to see you write about the traffic aspect of this plugin and how exactly it has helped you… this would help many other bloggers.

    Always,
    Terungwa

    • Hi Akaahan, Yes, I do really like having it. I will do update on the blog on that with the InfoLinks. Not all plugins take away from the speed. I have had issues in the past with plugins too and am always careful before intalling any new ones. They can take down a whole website in a second! Thanks for coming by again Akaahan.

  • Hi Lisa,
I am here again after a bit gap.
Good to see the new developments in the page alround.
Today I am again here via Enstine’s Broadednet notification.
To my surprise I could see here again the very visible Enstine Muki and his new plugin! 🙂
Though I came to know about it few days back i could not install it, instead i instead his
another plugin Broadednet in my page, Indeed Enstine is have a really magical touch all around 🙂
Thanks Lisa for this informative review.
And my thanks goes to very inventor of the widget. Thank you so much Enstine for your inventions!!
Keep it up my dear friend
    Good Wishes
    ~ Philip

    • Hi Philip, nice to see you back. I’ve been on a mini vacation and was not online for several days. Enstine sure does magical things online. I he deave really liked the plugin he designed and has changed since the beginning with input from others. I do like his new site/network, nice that you don’t have to comment and vote as well on it. A true time saver. Thanks for coming by Philip and enjoy the rest of your week there.

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine creating a fantastic plugin didn’t he? It’s really nice to see who your regulars are and it gives you and idea of how much deeper you may want to engage with them.

I love what he’s doing! I’ve noticed that over the last few weeks he has been so focused for his community that he hasn’t blogged as much recently as he normally does.

I have assurances that won’t last forever, lol…. I know a lot of us miss his wisdom.

Let’s see if I can’t offer you a little more on your site via comments Lisa!!!!

    Have a great evening,

    ~ Don Purdum

    • Hi Don, yes, Enstine sure has. I bet that and his new community has kept him hopping. Some of the results were surprising to me. Ik know the regular commenters but to see how often was the surprise. I bet Enstine will be back blogging asap. Thanks Don for coming by and leaving your wisdom here. Enjoy the rest of the week!

  • Hello Lisa, very good information, I’ll want to see my name on the list one day. Because of this widget most of people do comment in blog for his/her profile visibility. 😉

    • Hi Vaidhegi, thank you. You may see your name there if you keep on coming back 🙂 It should not be the only reason visitors do comment here though. I’d like to see them ask more questions or offer more input to a post. Thanks for coming by!

  • Hi Lisa!

Sorry it’s been a little while since I’ve been to your site – been playing catch up. Enstine is a genius! He plugin is really cool and he is constantly innovating new improvements. So impressed by it. Will definitely be sharing your article.

Wow! I was on the top of the list of August, yeah! I like seeing the stats, but I certainly don’t really feel any pressure. I like your site and I visit because I enjoy what you have to say, and I always learn something new!

    So, thank you!

    Talk to you soon,
    – Carol

    • Hi Carol – I truly get it, I’m behind as well making the blog rounds of late.
Yes, Enstine sure is brilliant. I love the plugin and how he updated it when suggestions come to him.
Imagine on the top of the list 🙂 No pressure at all…..Thank you.
I hope you have a great weekend ahead Carol.

  • Hello Madam Lisa,

I love your photo for your gravatar. I think the change is as a result of dealing with one ‘stupid’ impersonator. Please pardon my language but it is really annoying seeing stealing someone else identity online.

All in all, I think Enstine has done a good job by developing this plugin of his.

    • Hi Emmanuel, oh thank you. I finally changed it. Part of it was I needed a new photo for my LinkedIn Profile, many changes at my company at the day job and I wanted to be prepared. And I hope it may help with the imposter as well. I love the plugin so far by Enstine. He always seems to improve it along the way too. Thanks for coming by and have a great day!

  • Thanks Lisa for the brilliant post of wisdom. i am impressed what your style, thanks for sharing. Thank you also for compiling this awesome list of men and women who made your blog famous in August 2014.

    • Hi Emebu, you are welcome. I like sharing these kinds of things – that help commenters and readers of the blog. Have a great week!

  • Hi Lisa,
It’s my first time on your blog and I must complement you for a blog well set up. This is great plugin by Enstine Muki, and it surely would be of great help to bloggers using wordpress blogging platform. Anyway it’s nice you could come up with a review. Good one.
    Thanks for sharing

    • Hi Larry, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Thank you. I really liked it and wanted to share about it so other bloggers could use it as well. Thanks for coming by and for your input, have a great week!

  • Hello Lisa,

Thanks for sharing this wonderful plugin. I was not aware about this.

Nice updation you did here. Its awesome.

Thanks for you too Enstine for creating this wonderful plugin.

    Have a great weekend!

    • You are welcome Nisha, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. I did have a great weekend, went by too fast though. Have a nice new month and week ahead. Thanks for coming by.

  • Hi Lisa,

I meant to stop by and visit you after your comment on my “Weird Al” post. Your comment on my latest “Why blogs fail” jogged my memory. Thank you!

Love your blog, and I love how you’re using my buddy Enstine’s wonderful plugin. I haven’t implemented it yet (it’s on my ever-expanding to-do list), but it looks awesome.

Appreciate the Tweets you gave me earlier! Very kind of you. And thank you for the wonderful comment you left me. I’m going to respond to it as soon as I’ve browsed your site for a little bit!

    – Kevin

P.S. Apropos of nothing, but the primary color on your blog is my wife’s favorite. Haha. 🙂

    • Hi Kevin, LOL, you are welcome Kevin. Thank you. I do love the plugin by Enstine. Glad to know the site’s background color is your wife’s favorite color. I always tweet the best blog posts and ones that my followers will like as well. Thanks for coming by Kevin and have a great new Month!

  • Enstine always does the fab things. I tried My Comment Authors on one of my blog and found it really amazing. It really engages the readers and even it feels great at the end of month to watch stats 🙂

    • Hi Brijesh, oh yes Enstine is quite smart with these plugins. The stats are great to watch. Thanks for coming by and for your input Brijesh, have a great new week!

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks so much for featuring this super group of commentators…and yep, thanks for putting my mug up there 😉

Awesome product by Enstine, and it underscores the basis benefit of commenting; if you show up in a ton of places, and make friendships with bloggers through publishing comments, and through also, sharing content, good things happen for all involved.

Look at the visibility that wonderful folks like Carol Amato are receiving through your kind post.

Readers will meet her, promote her, and yep, her network will expand, as will her new buddies’ networks. It’s a win-win, all the way around, if you’ll just spotlight bloggers through tools like these and through other means.

    Thanks so much Lisa.

    Tweeting in a bit.

    Ryan

    • Hi Ryan, you are welcome! I like that Ryan, good things happen to all involved and it’s a win win with this new plugin by Enstine. I’m happy I have installed it and that readers will benefit from it as well. Hoping all is well in Fiji…

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine has done a great job with this plugin. I saw that Harleena use the same plugin on her latest blog post as well. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I agree with Adrian a little bit in terms of display because I do think that a list view of human faces with a wide blank space on the left and right is not the best way to display. Probably, the table view which might make the plays a little bit slow, will still look better because it will use the empty space.

Have a great Friday and an awesome weekend!

    Regards,
    Kumar

    • Hi Kumar, Enstine sure did a great job. A table would work better in a blog post. It would look great. I will try that one in the future. The weekend was great, and I become a grandmother. I hope you had a nice weekend Kumar.

    • It’s amazing these feedback I’m getting here. In the next version, I’ll add an option to generate the list in a table. So we shall be having the text list, bloc list and table list to chose from

I’m also seeing with Andy to be able to link it up with commentLuv and display the commentator’s last article on the table list too 😉

      • Hi Enstine, yes, isn’t it wonderful to get such feedback? I can’t wait to see the table version and hooking up with Andy would be great too Enstine. Thanks for paying such good attention to all.

  • Hi Lisa,

This is awesome. And a pleasant surprise.

For whatever reason I just recently came across your blog and will have to add it to my list of blogs to follow because you definitely have some awesome content that you come out with.

I’m glad to have made the list for this month so far and I hope to increase that for next month. Also, it truly is a great plugin that Enstine created and I’m glad to have been included as one of the top commenters for August. I’ll have to increase that number each month. 🙂

Hope you have an awesome weekend.

    – Andrew

    • Thanks Andrew and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. I do love the plugin by Enstine and must get ready to do the email with it as well. The weekend just flew by! I hope you had a good weekend and hope to see you back again in the future.

  • Hi Lisa

Enstine’s done a great job with MyCommentAuthors. I downloaded it the other day after reading his post about the plugin.

I think I’d agree with Adrian. It would make sense to be able to show the commenters in a table. The column will look great in a sidebar but I don’t think it works so well in the blog post itself.

I’d be more inclined to include it as a monthly feature if that were the case. I guess I might be able to do something with the html though to make it work.

    • Hi Tim, Ah yes, he certainly has. Yes, a table would be a great way to showcase it in a post. You are using a lot more HTML Tim these days – is it from those online classes you took? I remember a post you did on that. Thanks for your input on this one Tim and have a great rest of the week.

      • That’s right Lisa. It all started with Codecademy and now I think I can take on the world!

Well, maybe not the world but I can dabble in a little code, particularly CSS so I could hopefully change the style into a table that way.

  • Hey Lisa,

I’m in third place for all around commenting? I’m not surprised that Mayura and Brenda beat me but I’m really surprised that I beat Cori and Brenda for commenting this month. I guess how that happened was probably because I came back and responded to your comment on your Disqus vs. CommentLuv Premium post. We may have chatted it up a bit more which probably added more in there.

I thought for people who don’t have the comment type widget in their sidebar that something like this could be helpful. I actually took mine down earlier this year for a few reasons but I still think it’s a good way to show appreciation to your commenters.

This was a very smart way to go and I’ve already told Enstine that he did a really good job creating this plugin. I don’t think I’ll be using it though because I like to thank my bloggers when they comment and they all know I’m always showing my appreciation for their support.

Thanks for sharing with us who made this list and I’m so thrilled to be on it. I love your blog Lisa so I always hope to be making this list. 😉

You have a great afternoon my dear.

    ~Adrienne

    • Hi Adrienne, yes, you certainly are Adrienne! Yes, that’s right, you had a lot to say about CommentLuv 🙂 Curious as to why you took yours down Adrienne? Was it increasing those spammers or imposters? Enstine has been great with any questions I had while installing it but it was quite simple to use. It did not interfere with any other plugin either like I’ve had happen in the past. I’ve been so leary of installing any new plugins since. Thanks Adrienne for your kind words and I hope the weather has cooled down in your neck of the woods – have a great long weekend ahead.

      • Hey Lisa,

I took it down because I had gone through B-School and was really just trying to follow in line with what Marie was teaching. To not have anything in my sidebar to distract people from what I want them to do. I didn’t want anyone to feel like they would never get to “that place” so since I’d had it up for years I thought it was time to give it a rest. No other reason than that.

Glad you like this one Lisa and I know everyone likes being mentioned.

You have a wonderful long weekend as well. The weather is up and down right now but actually not too terribly bad.

        ~Adrienne

        • Hi Adrienne, thank you for coming back to explain 🙂 I hope your weekend was good. I became a grandmother! 3 weeks early too.

          • Hey Lisa,

Congratulations and 3 weeks early. I hope the baby is healthy and okay! How exciting and I know you’re just thrilled. Enjoy that new bundle of joy!

            ~Adrienne

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine has done a wondeful job with this plugin. I am glad to see my name in the list of yours. This is one of the best way to appreciate the people who comment.

Along with engagement, it serves a good purpose to recognize the people who sometimes gets lost. Having them featured in the post is an incredible idea.

In future, I see myself using this feature. Be blessed Lisa.

    • Hi Rohan, yes – I’m glad to see your name too – thank you for all the comments and support here. I do love the feature that shows the gravatar as well. It is something Enstine added after I made that suggestion. He really stands by the plugin too and is there for support. You too – be blessed and enjoy the rest of your week Rohan.

  • Hi Lisa,

This is my first time to know about the plugin. It is interesting for me to know some ways to reward my blog visitors. I think this plugin is a good idea.

Thanks for sharing it with us

    • Hi Okto, I’m glad I was able to introduce this plugin to you here. I do like it and I can’t wait to the email feature next week as well. Thanks for coming by and have a great weekend ahead Okto.

  • Hello Lisa,

This plugin will indeed go a long way in this wordpress era.
Some time back Enstine talked with me about the plugin via sky chat and i was just so amazed by the idea.
One of the feature i truly love about the plugin, is the ability to send out a thank you mail to your commenters at the end of every month, that’s indeed awesome 🙂

I will definitely be installing this baby pretty soon as well and see how it works with my community.
Thanks for sharing this with us and do have a wonderful week ahead…

    • Hi Babanature, yes – I hope to send that thank you email out next week. That is a very neat feature with the email. You are welcome and enjoy the rest of your week Babanature, nice to see you back here!

  • Hey Lisa,

I have already heard about this plugin, in fact i read about it this morning on Enstine’s blog. This plugin is an outstanding invention by Enstine, i must activate it on my blog in few days.

I see there are a lot of new faces in the top commenters list as i used to be one of the regular commenters of your blog. I hope i’d find one spot in the next month’s top commenters list.

    -Siraj

    • Hi Siraj, it is a cool plugin and it is easy to install. It won’t take you much time Siraj. Oh yes, a lot of the old bloggers quit too. Nice to see you back Siraj and enjoy the rest of your week there.

  • Hey Lisa,

    You rocked.;)

I have read about this plugin at Enstine’s blog. As we all know about him and his awesome blog.
He has created this amazing plugin.

Most of bloggers don’t even try to know as who are the commenters who visit their blog and put their comment. With this plugin bloggers can know the perfect number of comments dropped by any particular person.

Thanks for making us aware a lot more.

    Enjoy your week ahead.:)

    ~Ravi

    • Hi Ravi, thanks 🙂 Yes, I had some idea but this made it so simple to see who were the top commenters for the month and all time. A real nice feature! You are welcome Ravi and are you going to try this plugin out too? Have a great day!

  • Hi Lisa,

It’s a great plugin from Enstine Muki. 🙂

Because of this post, it made me install MyCommentAuthors. I thought I have way too many plugins already but this one is a musty! Good to see myself there on your list. I made it with 3 comments!! Yay!! Will catch you later. Have a great evening!

    Angela

    • Hi Angela, yes, I think so too. That’s why I installed it. How did you find the install? I try not to use too many plugins as a plugin almost took down this entire site when I first started. Glad to see you on the list as well, thanks for coming by and commenting again Angela. Enjoy the rest of your week there.

  • Hi Lisa,

I was surprised to see that this month I commented on your blog more than a commenting-champ like Ryan. There must be something wrong with me 🙂

Interesting plugin. Maybe Enstine will consider also a table-like display for blog posts. That huge column is appropriate for the right side widget, but it doesn’t look so nice when inserted in a blog post. What do you think, Enstine? 😉

    • Hey Adrian,
      There are two options to display the comment authors on your blog posts;
1 – The gravatar display used here by Lisa
2 – The list display – look at the post I have attached to this plugin

I experimented between tables and List and found out that the table makes the post slower than the list. That explains why I opted for the list. So in the process of generating the html tag, you select between list and gravatar display

Does this address your point ?

      • Thank you for your explanation, Enstine. I would still prefer a table display that includes gravatars – sort of FB like box – because in my opinion it looks way much better than a huge column surrounded by tons of white space.

I understand your point regarding the fact that it makes the post loading slower, but I still prefer it. To tell you honestly I don’t care if the page is loaded slower but only the search engine bots notice it. As for the readers, I guess they won’t notice the slower loading because the gravatars won’t be displayed above the fold. Isn’t that so? So until the reader reads the text posted above the fold, the pictures have enough time to load. The readers aren’t bothered, they don’t have to wait.

Of course, this is what I would prefer. It doesn’t mean that it’s the best choice, or that other users would like it. You have to build your plugin not based on one opinion, but based on what the majority of the users would like to use 🙂

    • Hi Adrian, LOL, maybe so huh? I do like this plugin and I don’t like installing a lot of them. I’m always concerned about the ability to work with other plugins on my blog as I almost lost the whole thing when I first started to use WordPress. Thanks for coming by Adrian and I see Enstine also answered your question. Have a great day!

  • Looks like a nice plugin! I use CommentLuv Top Commenters and although it doesn’t have the capability to export out to email the commenters, I can still display it on my site and show recognition. I do see value you Enstine’s plugin though. Great to always learn something new.

    Thanks for sharing it Lisa.

    • Hi Bren, I have that one too in the sidebar. This one is nice to post in a blog post or via email monthly to thank your readers for their comments. I like the all time top ones too, Enstine will be updating that soon so it will show on the sidebar. I also liked how he was right there to answer questions as I was setting it up. Thanks for coming by Bren and I bet your day tomorrow will be hot, same here – stay cool! I know you can’t wait for snow this year 🙂

  • Hi Lisa,

Enstine’s plugin is a great idea! Look at how great you can quickly see who commented the most on your blog. I’m thinking about using it myself.

It is a great way to show appreciation to our readers, especially those who always come to our blogs. What a surprise to see myself there! It gives that sense of gratitude from you and makes me feel special.

Its a great way to put a post up to acknowledge your readers. Thanks so much…I feel special today!

    -Donna

    • Hi Donna, yes, it sure is. I just had to try it out and I’ve been plugin shy for some time. I like how it gives links to the commenters blogs too and you can set them as no follow or do follow. Nice option! You are welcome and you are special Donna 🙂 Enjoy the rest of this week, appreciate you coming by today!

  • Wow! That’s very cool, Lisa, and a pleasant surprise on this pretty Tuesday morning. 🙂

I think it could be a great addition to a newsletter. The way it’s formatted, it could be the “sidebar” of your newsletter at the beginning of each month.

I like that it’s both a way to express gratitude and to exhibit social proof. You have engaged readers as a result of your engaging content. Win-win!

    Peace. ~Ellen

    • Hi Ellen, I thought so too, enough to install a new plugin! Yes, I may try that in my next one. I like how it rewards the commenter by giving them links to their blogs too. You can choose do-follow or no-follow. It sure looks like a win-win. Let me know if you try it out Ellen. Enjoy the rest of this last week of August!

  • Hi Lisa,

I would definitely use this plugin! I think this was a great idea by Enstine and I can’t wait for the updated version to roll out so I can install it. And I love that he is only an email away for support!

I remember your post about the plugin issue you had and ever since then I’m weary of plugins too. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this with us! I hope you’re having a great week. It’s the official first day of school here so I’m taking a couple days of f to enjoy the quiet :).

    Happy Tuesday!

    • Hi Corina, Oh yes I always love having support when I try something new out in WordPress. That’s very important. Glad you learned that via me vs. losing your blog because of a plugin. You are welcome. Oh enjoy the days of peace and quiet! You must be excited 🙂 Thanks for coming by and commenting today Corina.

    • Hi Corina,
      How are you this week?

I just released version 1.3 and it’s available for upgrade. You should see a notification right within your WordPress Admin. I have also written about it and the link is right below this comment.

I’ll be glad to have you around 😉

      • Hi there Enstine!

Thanks for such a great plugin! I am going to install in now and get it activated! The week has been fast and busy but I still have my health LOL 🙂

Have a great day Enstine and Lisa :)!

  • Hi Lisa,

Oh yes…I think Enstine’s come up with a wonderful idea to have the commenters show up this way and also be notified through email if required. I got his email too and it is a brilliant way to showcase your commenters too.

Loved to see myself placed there among the rest! Yes, he was kind enough to take up our suggestions and add them up in his updated version, and I guess would keep doing that to better his baby 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead 🙂

    • Hi Harleena, yes, he sure has. I couldn’t believe how fast he took up our suggestions and put them into action. I bet it is like a baby to him and he should be proud. You are welcome and I hope your week goes smoothly there. Thanks for taking the time to come by and comment too Harleena.

  • What a pleasant surprise Lisa !

I’m most excited with your beautiful suggestions to make this plugin more useful. Your last suggestion to have a sidebar widget that should display the most active commentators since the history of your blog will be up in the next release (version 1.3) this week.

I’m sure this will help WP bloggers boost their traffic from repeat visitors and increase engagement on their blogs.

I’ll be getting back to you by mail. You can’t measure my excitement right now Lisa 😉

    • Hi Enstine 🙂 I can’t wait to see the sidebar widget. That will be a very nice addition to it. I think so too Enstine and like how it rewards the most active commenters on our blogs.
Thanks for offering this one FREE to us to use and have a great rest of the week there.
