Blog Traffic Dips In The Summertime When The Weather Gets Hot
Several website owners answered the question on Quora about summertime web traffic. Most website owners agreed their web traffic did decline during the summertime when the weather gets hot. They noticed the traffic drop beginning in late May.
Others commented it was in July that their web traffic began to drop.
Holidays like Memorial Day and July 4th are another time when web traffic may take a nosedive.
Read on how you can summer-proof your blog and still have readers come and read your latest posts.
What Is It About Summer That Makes Us Lazier?
Summer weather may reduce both our attention and our energy levels. According to Discover Magazine, our brains do change in the summertime. It is a time of reduced productivity.
Hence, when the sun is shining and the skies are blue people tend to think of leisure activities. They find it harder to concentrate on mundane tasks.
Likewise, any thought-provoking activities take a dive into hot weather. Studies from Harvard University and in Japan found similar patterns.
On bad weather days, people tended to work an extra half-hour per day than on good weather days.
On good weather days, people were thinking about what they wanted to be doing instead of concentrating on work. Some call it Spring Fever. But it happens more during the summertime months.
6 Summer Blog Ideas To Summer-Proof Your Blog
1. Pre-Write Your Blog Posts for Blog Summer-Proof
Have your blog posts ready in advance for the days when you are ready to shut down the computer. You may want to head to the beach or park.
Or, you can get a blog post scheduler from co-promote to keep you on track.
You never know when you will get sick as I did with Lyme one summertime. That summertime I did not post as often as I wasn’t prepared.
2. Use AI for Summer Blog Ideas
AI can supercharge your summer blogging efforts. The Right Blogger idea generators suggest fresh, unique topics tailored to your niche, sparking creativity and inspiration.
With 74 AI tools at your fingertips, you’ll never run dry on exciting ideas for engaging content.
Exploring AI’s capabilities opens doors to consistently publishing high-quality, audience-grabbing posts throughout the sunny season.
It’s not only for writing content, these AI tools can help you with your SEO, rewrite paragraphs from old blog posts to freshen them up for this summer.
However, beware if you use Medium to write your blog, you cannot be paid for content written by AI but you may still use it for ideas to write about.
If you want to delete your AI content from the Medium paywall, here is how delete them.
Of course, owning your own blog you can do what you want with it, it’s your own property.
3. Plan Time to Promote Your Blog
Save a little time each day to promote your posts and others. Remember the 80/20 rule. Only share 20% of your own stuff, the other 80% should be others.
For this reason, use a social media tool like Missing Lettr to help you schedule ahead. It will take the pressure off you on days that you just don’t feel like it.
For instance, the heatwave we were experiencing last year makes us all just want to rest as the heat can wear you down and out.
4. Post More Often to Make Your Blog Traffic Increase
Yes, of course, post more often. If you are posting more often Google will reward you with more traffic over time. Google will see that your blog is being refreshed and you know how much Google loves that more than ever.
Likewise, be sure to write a blog post your readers will love to read.
Some top bloggers, like Ryan Biddulph from Blogging from Paradise, even recommend blog posting several times per week. Ryan claims to post several times per week helps to build more traffic and thus generate more sales from the blog.
You may have noticed that on Inspire To Thrive, I update old blog posts almost daily after researching the latest on the keywords and audience preferences.
If it’s a major update or breaking news in the niche I’ll change the date. That way you will see it on the homepage of the blog.
Otherwise, it’s just a regular update to the summer blog post itself.
5. Mobile Ready Your Blog
Be sure your website is mobile-friendly. This is an important blog summer-proof tip.
Therefore, more people will be using their mobile phones to access your website or blog this summer. More people than ever before! At least 69% of web users today use mobile to access the internet. (via Comscore)
Notice below how many folks access the site here via their mobile devices. It’s 55%, double the traffic from 2018 from mobile devices!
Does Mobile Make A Difference?
Finally, mobile devices have made a big difference in the summertime. You can see it all around you as you go about your daily activities.
No matter where you are people are on their mobile devices. (Even when they should not be as they are driving!)
Did you know that the cell phone is the most quickly adopted consumer technology ever in the world? What an amazing stat.
There are even more mobile phones than people in many countries today. That’s a frightening stat to read.
Voice Search Ready to Ensure Summer Blog Traffic
Last but not least, voice search is now gaining traction and getting hotter than ever before. Today 93% of all searches are done via voice per day.
It is believed there are over a billion searches done a month via voice.
I’ve found that out myself with our new hands-free law and my Android phone. I’m always asking Google for this or that. (Hey Google!)
Does your website or blog come up with voice activation? You can start with featured snippets to get your site ready for voice. You can read more in this post about what you should know about voice activation.
Now is the time to get working on your featured snippets and be found via voice search before summertime is here.
6. Give Yourself a Break from the Blog
As a result, don’t let yourself burn out this summer. Give yourself a little vacation and time away from online activities.
You will feel refreshed and better able to get back into the groove.
Too many bloggers have quit over the years after getting burned out from turning out posts daily. It becomes too overwhelming and many just quit blogging altogether.
Of course, as long as you can keep the quality of your blog posts up. You want to be sure the content is helpful to your readers.

Fabulous ideas, Lisa! Since I’m slowly moving back into the blogging realm, I love the tools from RightBlogger and a few others. Idea generators are great, as well as, all those SEO helpers! When you think about when we met and became blogging buds like in 2010, how did we cope with the summertime slooooo-time? Appreciate you sharing these tips!
Thanks Brenda. I’m glad you are using the Right Blogger tools, they are fabulous and so are the owners Ryan and Andy. Anytime I think of something I suggest it to them and they usually come up with a way to do it. I can’t believe we have been doing this since 2010 Brenda, wow! Time surely has flown by. Thanks for your input and have a great rest of the day.
Seasonal changes can have a significant impact on the success of a blog.
Well, yes and no. It depends on the industry. Travelling industry and some others gets more visitors, especially last minute lovers.
so…
With summer fast approaching, it’s important to make sure your content is relevant and engaging for your audience.
Lisa,
Thanks for a great article, that provides some great tips on how to optimize your blog for summer.
A break or promotion, more content -def we can use time wisely.
Google loves when we refresh old content- i try to keep it always updated.
All devices friendly-that’s also important. Sure, we see ourselves how many people use phone for web searching…
Hi Rina, welcome to Inspire To Thrive. Yes, seasonal changes can effect different types of businesses too. Not all are created equal. Yes, I’ve been updating a lot of content here recently to try to keep up. I’ve even deleted a few real old stuff that is no longer relevant. Thanks for coming by and have a great day!
I more or less do the same thing, but all year long. I will sit down and write up and schedule 2 or 3 months of content and schedule it to be released over that time. I might occasionally jump in there to post a time relaxant piece. But other than that it’s on auto pilot most of the time.
Welcome to Inspire to Thrive.
Wow Rich, you really do work ahead. Much of what I write is timely so it’s a bit harder to do that. I really need to focus on updating some posts here too. Thanks for coming by and have a great day ahead Rich. It’s nice to hear you are on auto pilot.
Hi Lisa, excellent post!
Fortunately here in India, summer is over (thank God!) and we are enjoying the monsoon season. That said, I always create an editorial calendar where I schedule all the blog posts in advance (whether it’s a summer or winter or any other season). I personally feel that consistency is the key to building a profitable blog that makes money.
Just make sure to hire a writer or outsource your content writing work if you don’t feel like writing anything during summer. If not, as you said, pre-writing your blog posts work like a charm. Another great idea is to accept guest posts from other people so you can schedule the best guest posts in advance.
As you said, planning your summer for promotion is a rocking idea. You can repurpose your content or even try new publishing channels such as Medium, Quora or even YouTube to reach out to new audience. The key is to be consistent and use your time wisely.
Also make sure to take breaks and have fun in between! Thanks for the great share.
Hi Anil, Are you NOT a fan of summer? That is a great way to stay consistent. I try to post weekly all year but there a few weeks I may miss. I’m more into outsourcing now than ever before. The more clients I take on I have to outsource my own blog.
I love Quora! I’ve been using it pretty steady for a year now and it’s one of my top sources of traffic. I dabbled with Medium, love it but need more hours in the day for it.
Having breaks with fun is a must Anil. Life is way too short not to do that. Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful weekend there!
I just wanna say. Such an engaging post and title.. Love to read this.
Talking about the content, Superb. You are absolutely right. Responsiveness of the site plays a major role. In these hot days, No one sit in the front of desktop, people prefer web surfing through the mobile phones instead of tabs and all. So this feature is utterly summer proof. Besides that the scheduling of the post is really effective. These days I use VCB a lot, as you told me to do that, And lisa I love to tell you that i’m getting decent result through VCB.
Thank you so much for this article.
Regards
Maria.
Hi Maria, thank you. Have you noticed any dips in your blog’s traffic this summer Maria? I used to in the past but not this summer. I’m keeping about the same schedule with posting too. I think mobile has made a big impact on it as most of the views today are done via mobile devices. It’s amazing to see how much has changed in the 8 years I’ve been at it here at Inspire to Thrive. I’m so glad you like Viral Content Bee – I must update my post about that one. Thanks for coming by Maria and for sharing on the social networks too. Have a great day!
Hi Lisa,
I have definitely noticed a dip in my traffic this summer. I wish I could be like Ryan and other bloggers who can publish multiple times a day. I’m doing the happy dance when I can get my blog posts done for the following week, lol.
As always you’ve shared some great tips for us to get our website summer-ready. I’m especially interested in voice search. I’ll have to read Search Engine Land’s post for those tips.
Thanks for putting this together for us. I hope you had a great weekend. Happy Monday!
Cori
Hi Cori, I’m with you – a slower pace. But I don’t think posting multiple times a day is great either, because as a reader of some blogs I don’t have time to read multiple posts or emails the same day. Just my 2 cents.
I’m glad you have read up on voice search. Things are changing so fast these days Cori.
I did and am ready for another one almost upon us. I hope your week is going well and that it is not too hot in your neck of the woods! Thanks for coming by and taking the time to comment on this one.
Great tips, Lisa. It is common knowledge that traffic drops around the summer, which is why you need to make sure your site is mobile responsive because internet users are now more on mobile than desktop. It is estimated that about 90% of mobile internet users check their smartphone every 15 mins. So the need for a mobile friendly and mobile responsive site are extremely important now than ever before.
Hi Moss, that is amazing but yet true! Every 15 minutes people are looking at their smartphones. Imagine how much we could do if we didn’t look at it as often? LOL. I try on some days to do just that. It is so crazy how dependent we have become on them. Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful day Moss.
On-point tips you got there, Lisa! People would be using their mobile phones more often during summer for they’d probably be outside much more often too. And it really it important to make a website mobile-frindly. I think Google is making it also a standard when it comes SEO. Anyways, thanks for the tips!
Hi Mandy, thank you. Yes, I’ve been noticing it more and more this summer. Traffic has been remaining steady. What do you mean by Google making it standard? SEO is constantly changing still. That always amazes me. Thanks for coming by and have a great weekend.
Oddly enough, my traffic’s grown some over the past 6 weeks, which is kind of astounding. I’m not sure what it is, but it happened around the time I changed themes. Usually traffic drops more around holidays but I’ll take what I can get.
Hi Mitch, YES, that’s my point – now with mobile traffic does NOT drop like it once did in the summer. My biggest day was last Friday which really shocked me. Friday’s are usually slow but I think because I did a new/updated post on holiday it helped to drive more traffic as others were off on vacation.
I wonder if your theme had something to do with it or a new post as well Mitch. Thanks for coming by as I know you had to do these a few times as something was off here (via your tweet!) Much appreciated and have a good week Mitch.
Hello Lisa,
Awesome post. You know I always feel lazy to do work in hot and humid weather. At this time I did love to go on vacations and enjoy tracking as well. You are right, we have to plan for these months. I always create articles in advance and schedule some of them. It’s really a time saver and keeps your blog active. Thanks for sharing these helpful tips.
Have a Great Day.
Vishwajeet
Thank you Vishwajeet. That’s a great way to do it if you can Vishwajeet – schedule them ahead. I don’t always get to it but I LOVE it when I am able to. How long do you take off for during the summer months there? Thanks for coming by and have a great day.
Hi,
Awesome post, Lisa. I like all your tips, especially – #5. As well know that the number of mobile users is growing tremendously and the number has already surpassed desktop users. We need to make an effort to create a mobile responsive website and it will surely help to boost the massive amount of traffic.
I am very happy to read this post and thank you so much for sharing with us.
Have a great day ahead.
Praveen Verma
Hi Praveen, thank you. Oh yes I am always checking things out on mobile since it’s how most people come to the websites now. It can be a pain with Facebook pages, you do things on desktop and then see them on mobile to find out it doesn’t look good . They need a preview button!
Thanks for coming by Praveen and have a wonderful weekend.
Seriously, several times a day Ryan? But does anyone apart from Ryan actually do that?
I remember Summer – middle of winter here in Melbourne …
Personally I find reading blogs on mobiles a pain (yes even mine) – fortunately I work from home tho so I don’t have to. But you’re right Lisa you do need to be optimized for it, another great post!
Hi Justin, there are a few like Ryan out there that do that. I’ve found it’s hard to keep up reading them at that consistency. And I’ve unsubscribed from emails that went out several times a day, a little overwhelming. Oh, you are in middle of Winter there now? Can you send me some snow here?
I do read many from my mobile device and I don’t like pop-ups or share buttons that get in the way of commenting.
Thanks for that compliment and for coming by and commenting Justin. I hope you have a nice weekend!
Hello, Lisa.
The future will be for those devices that have the ability to synchronise with people. Mobile seems to be a start. We most certainly spent quite a good amount of time on our mobile, seeking answers.
Regardless of where we are, our most favourite companion will be our mobile. Even in the midst of a professional meeting we can see how overly dependent we are. In a sense we are slaved to technology.
Summer off, took 2 weeks holiday, drove to the farthest corner of the world, and still sticks to the 5 inch display. The irony seems ?.
From a marketers perspective, ?.
Hi Nishant, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Great point about synchronize with people via our mobile devices. I love a day when I leave my mobile device at home – it feels like freedom to me.
It is ironic to see them everywhere now 24/7. We certainly have become slaves to them. Thanks for coming by and for your valuable input on this topic Nishant. Have a great weekend ahead and maybe some time away from that mobile device.
Hi Lisa,
Summer is a slack-back time for sure.
I like to focus less on my blog and more on putting together some trainings I can offer people in the fall.
Also, I have coaching clients, so work with them is “summer-proof.”
Enjoy your summer and try not to press to hard.
-Donna
Hi Donna, does your traffic go down when you do that? Coaching never takes a break, does it? I’m trying. I finished vacation so I’m back to the grind for the summer. We get a short weekend break and then a wedding in NC the beginning of August. I’d love to head your way this fall. I haven’t been up North when the trees are all in their fabulous colors.
[ Smiles ] Well, Lisa. My blog is too new to actually test that theory.
I have grown into the habit of scheduling blog posts a day ahead (So, I do not have to press the “Publish” button on that day).
Also, most websites are supposed to be mobile friendly by now. I believe that Google made a huge fuss about this approximately two and a half years ago.
Unfortunately, my blog has not been indexed as yet by Google, so I am going to fail miserable in the area of voice search (Unless, a person uses Cortana to find my blog on Bing).
Anyway, posting several times a day is not a bad idea for the Summer.
In your case, you can get three guest bloggers to help you out with your workload.
Hi Renard, oh yes, you did start a new one. It looks really nice too. I love to hit the publish button but wait a day to double proof it first. I wonder how long it will take for Google to index it? If I remember from other sites I’ve done it takes a couple of months. Having contributors for your blog really does help take off the pressure Renard. Now I have to write some contributor posts myself for a few folks. No matter the season, blogging keeps one very busy.
Thanks for coming by and have a great rest of the week Renard!
Great article Lisa, I think scheduling article is the best decision for this.
And It is important to do all things in your life as well as blogging
Thanks Mansoor. Yes, scheduling is key today to keeping on track and driving traffic. Thanks for coming by and have a great day!
We all need to make our blogs mobile responsive. I found out the hard way that what I think of as “mobile responsive” is NOT what others claim it is! After I switched to Genesis and chose a child theme specifically because it was “mobile responsive” I found out it really isn’t.
My header does not resize. I had to add code to get images in posts to resize. And I had to install a plugin to get videos to resize. Don’t switch to the Prose child theme as apparently it is not as advanced as some of the newer themes. I need to switch again! I wrote about all this with screen captures, but that post has already fallen off the end of CommentLuv. I can share the link if you want it.
Hi Gail, wow, interesting. Thanks for your advice on the themes here with them not being mobile responsive as one may think. I will have to check it out. I use a plugin here for mobile WP Touch. So far so good. Feel free to add the link if you like. Love to know what you will switch to Gail too. There are so many things to blogging aren’t there?
Hi Lisa,
I wrote about the code I had to add to make the images resize and the plugin I’m using. Later I realized my header isn’t resizing so I still need to change themes. StudioPress said they felt videos were optional, so those using videos should use plugins (instead of that capability being codes into Genesis).
I didn’t realize going mobile responsive was so complicated. Our themes can also impact whether our social sharing buttons work.
Great post I think scheduling future post is the best option for this.
And It is necessary to do all things in your life as well as blogging.
Hi Uday, that’s for sure. I wish I could follow my own advice, I’m really hoping to soon as life sure does get in the way. Thanks for stopping by and have a great new week.
Hi Lisa,
I am late to read this post and have to put this into action the next year. That’s because we are already in the summertime now and I was not prepared for it this time. I did not have any pre-written posts and it’s almost 42 to 44 degree Celsius here now, so you can understand the amount of heatwave we are going by, added to that is the high humidity, which is making situations worse.
It’s just getting impossible to sit in front of computer or laptop and work for even an hour. The rains are gonna come by July, so we have to wait until then. So, my blogging has slowed down tremendously and now the frequency of writing and publishing also has decreased and communicating to all of you my friends too. So, I will keep this in mind for the next time and be summertime ready the next year.
Mainak.
It is never too late Mainak to read or comment on any post here. Welcome to Inspire to Thrive. If I only could only take my own advice, my mom past away last week and I wished I had a few posts that were pre-done. So it’s a good idea for anytime really. I hope the weather gets better there soon Mainak. I’m not a fan of high humidity, I turned on my air conditioner for the first time today….
Lisa been a while have been on your blog cos i was trying to round up a diploma which has so far been successful.
Concerning the topic I hope to do a lot of catching up as have been out of the blogging scene for a couple of week so far. So coming to your blog has helped me know that i need to craft a couple of content that ll give me the opportunity to take the needed rest while also giving me the opportunity to do lots of promotion.
Thanks once again
Congratulations Peter on the diploma, that is great! You are welcome and I hope it does help, now if only I could take my own advice.
nice points for this summer specially “take a break” i think its very important to take break because it make me frustrated whhen only work work and work. take break and refresh yourself…
Handy gadgets are the best solution to retain your traffic in summer. So you need to follow all requirements to be equally visible on all types of display frames including LCD, LED, laptop, smartphone and Iphone.
You well covered all the points to equally get huge traffic in summer when people get slow and try to manage their life normal by going out more and staying home less.
Thanks for writing on such a wonderful idea that rarely comes into mind of most of the people. Thanks a lot
You are welcome Mi Muba and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Good point on the display frames too. Do you notice traffic dips in the summer there as well?
Hey Lisa,
These are great tips. I was a big advocate to your first tip. Last year and the year before last I would prewrite my content and set them to be publish later on. I actually got addicted to it and happen to end up with 3 months of material LOL.. this was when I was writing shorter content and every other day. I was really on something then! Also, yes, I admit it, I take my mobile phone to the bathroom. It’s as almost as if I can’t live without it… I think this is a bad habit LOL… thanks for sharing the tips and the stats!
Hi Sherman, wow 3 months of it! I wish I could do that Sherman. I’m lucky to get one or two weeks ahead. I take my mobile there and almost everywhere Sherman. I’ve gotten better though past few months and am online a bit less, between my mom sick and trying to “live” a little more outside the internet. Thanks for your input Sherman and have a wonderful day ahead.
Hello Lisa,
Thanks for that infographic…it was quite revealing! Over here in Nigeria however, it’s always hot…and the Summer months in the US coincide with the raining season here – and the weather is slightly tolerable during this time.
I recently changed all my blog designs/themes to responsive ones…it’s quite headstrong going with a non responsive design (or theme) when the handwriting is clearly on the wall…
Do have a very great day, Lisa!
Always,
Terungwa
Hi Akaahan, I always wondered about that – how different parts of the world with different weather react to our summers, etc. So do you find a difference there with rainy season vs our summer? Good for you on the change for responsive blogs – the handwriting is on the wall for sure with mobile. Enjoy the rest of your week there.
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for sharing this informative post.
I agree with your point of not getting much traffic in summer days as people go to spend their holidays in summer time.
In summer days we become lazy which can affect our blog. We should be ready for these days.
We need to make a plan, schedule of posting at our blog. Laziness shouldn’t lead upon us.
It’s all about hard determination to get success.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend.
~Ravi
Hi Ravi, you are welcome. Oh yes, it is hard to avoid the lazy days of summer sometimes. I think we all yearn for the time when we were kids and summers seemed to last forever! I know some years I sure do. I did enjoy the weekend, thanks! Now it’s all back to work and determination. Thanks for taking the time to come by and comment Ravi. (I love the title of your post, I’ve always wondered how to do that if an update goes wrong!)
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for appreciating.
Actually, for WordPress version 3.9 it’s really bugging many people.
I had updated to it and faced some problems so needed to degrade WordPress version.
I wish you wouldn’t need to do that.
Enjoy the weekend.
~Ravi
You are welcome Ravi. I heard and waited a long time to upgrade this one. I don’t know why they make releases with so many bugs. You too!
Hey Lisa,
I’ve noticed that traffic does seem to slack off more in the summer months then others. Most kids are out of school and the parents are spending more time with them and vacationing more. I actually love that the families are spending more time together or in other cases just taking some much needed time off.
It’s not always great for us but I certainly can’t fault them for wanting to take some time away. Man, I need to do that myself but I don’t really see that happening for me this summer.
As for mobile users well you know I’m still not a big mobile user myself and I don’t have a lot of mobile users accessing my blog at this time but that doesn’t mean that’s not where it’s headed. I can’t keep my head in the sand just because I don’t personally use it a lot.
Thanks for the reminder because summer is almost here now. Oh and I loved the infographic, great job Lisa.
Enjoy your week.
~Adrienne
Hi Adrienne, yes more people do take time away during the summer months. I know I’ll be offline more this summer between my mom and time away from my day job. I’ve been offline more this year than in the past 4. I still want to try to do a garden too but not sure I will accomplish that and my new eBook. I hope you do get to take a little time Adrienne to recharge too! Oh yes, mobile is so prevalent now, everywhere you go you see people on their mobile. (Even on the beach…) Thanks for your input and enjoy the rest of your week there Adrienne.
Hi Lisa,
Nice info-graphics and great tips. Yes i agree with you lisa. Because of summer, i got more traffic from mobile and smartphones. I don’t say it’s only bcoz of summer, even in winter, autumn and spring am getting decent traffic from mobile users. Anyway thanks for sharing this post. Interesting to read. Thanks for dropping a comment in my blog. Keep coming lisa.
Thanks Nirmal. Do you know what your percentage of traffic is mobile? I know last time I checked it was around 20%. You are welcome and have yourself a great day Nirmal.
Hey Lisa
I often find that there are large periods of slow time (summer and xmas) and it is actually a good time to take a break yourself. This could be less writing and bigger time off, or time to do something else.
I personally tend to take my vacation in the off-season so I work through the summer.
Getting ahead and writing for your down-time is a great plan and something I do for all my vacation.
But a little time off full-stop, is also not bad.
Thanks for the reminder :>
ashley
Hi Ashley, yes Christmas is another slow time as well. I looked at my garden space yesterday and wondered if I would have time for that this summer, I haven’t had one since I started blogging but I’m trying to achieve more balance this year. I have to work on that writing ahead as well. I know how important it will become otherwise the blog will get stale. You are welcome for the reminder and have a great new week there Ashley.
Hey Lisa,
it’s been a long time i visited your blog, your articles are still best. i never thought that i would have to make my blog summer-proof, nice tips though. i liked 2nd and 3rd because many bloggers doesn’t have time to promote their content, they believe in writing which doesn’t worth their time. They need to divide time among writing and promoting, moreover they should save some time for resting because continuous writing and promoting may make them exhausted.
-Siraj
Hi Siraj, thank you. Oh yes, that promoting is so vital and takes a lot of time. I’d say 60-40 with 60% being the promoting time. Oh yes, an exhausted blogger does not make a good or great blogger. We all need to recharge those batteries within us. Thanks for coming by again Siraj and have a wonderful new week.
Hey Lisa,
Another great post and Yes, whenever summer arrives, we just cannot sit in front of computer for hour as it make us lazier and also reduce our energy level. I am totally agree with you that we have to take some brake to refresh us so that we can easily focus on our work. Preparing the blog post in advance is really very important factor.
This summer really gonna very difficult for me as after few days my university Exam gonna start, so I have to prepare for them and this summer already make me so lazy.
Thanks for sharing this tips with us.
Hi Sudipto, yes, I’ve noticed it already. I’ve been doing yard work and hardly spent anytime this past weekend online. I’ve to work on those blog posts early myself as it is going to be very important to continue to publish throughout the summertime. Good luck on your exams Sudipto and you are welcome.
Loved the tips for making blog summer proof specially #2 one. Seems like really essential to make a blog summer proof to get addiotional traffic.
Thanks Mark. Oh yes, promotion time is something definately needed and probably takes more time than writing a blog post too. It’s something we tend to forget and do as an after thought. Welcoem to Inspire to Thrive Mark and have a great day!
Surprised to know the stats of mobile users or smartphone users. Sometimes I use schedule option where posts will be published automatically. That’s great option for a nap time.
Hi Samir, Yes, wasn’t it a little shocking to see how far we have come so soon with mobile? I like that option for nap time Samir, Thanks! Have yourself a great new week.
Hi Lisa,
Gotta go mobile to summer proof your blog…heck, to drive traffic throughout the entire year. No other way around it. More people are doing mobile these days. We better see that trend and capitalize. Smart tips Lisa.
Thanks!
RB
Hi Ryan, good point, year round for mobile is a necessity today. People are searching for all kinds of things during the summer months. Thanks for coming by Ryan and have yourself a wonderful new week!
This is a great reminder Lisa!
I’ll have to go back and see how my traffic was this past summer, I can’t think that far back LOL.
The one thing I made sure my new theme was mobile friendly. The challenge I have is pre-writing post…I make time for it, but it never happens LOL. I might do like Bren and take advantage of the downtime and write during that time. It’s all how you look at it I guess :).
I tend to work more in bad weather too and on pretty days, I’ll drift off and start day dreaming while I’m looking outside. :).
Thanks for sharing the infographic Lisa. Have a great weekend and Happy Mother’s Day to you and your mom!
Hi Corina, that is funny, you really do have to check those stats. That is my challenge as well Corina. I’m always writing on the last minute it seems lately. I hope to fill my posts on the rainy and colder days this summer. I also am determined to work on my 2nd email for new Twitter tips with all the recent Twitter changes. Thanks for the Mother day’s wishes Corina. I hope you have a wonderful one as well. I find it hard to believe we are in mid-May already!
Hello Lisa,
I must admit this was indeed an interesting read. The way you used info-graphics in this post, made it very reader-friendly post.
Also agree with the point 4. Having a mobile responsive site is very important because most of the users now browse Internet through their phones.
Thanks Ravi. I love using infographics when applicable to a topic. They help drive a point. Oh yes, the mobile is so key today. Thanks for coming by Ravi and have yourself a great weekend.
Love it Lisa! I think people tend to be outside more and with friends and family and too busy for blogging writing and reading. I’m going to look the decline in blog traffic as a blessing for me this summer, as I plan on hammering out some short stories and promoting them.
What are your plans? Are you prewriting or will you continue to do your norm?
Hi Bren, thanks. You are on a roll with your short stories Bren, that is great! I am hoping to have some prewritten on the rainy days so I can enjoy some sunny days and maybe even plant my garden which hasn’t been done in the 4 years I’ve been blogging. I stayed out late cutting grass last night to leave more time for this weekend (I hope!). Good luck on those short stories Bren and have a great weekend.
Hi Lisa,
I really wonder what it is too, though I think it’s the heat of the summer just as we have at our end, it’s at the peak right now and by July we start getting a little rain so it cools off, or then it’s the humid weather those day.
More than us keeping our posts ready, it’s not many people visiting our blogs I think, though again largely it depends on the kind of post also, and of course your audience. If they are the ones with families, surely going on vacation is on everyone’s agenda, so they would be less traffic, other than that, people do keep coming.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend.
Hi Harleena, yes, the type of post and audience can make some difference as well. There some sites like weather and vacation sites that may still do quite well during the summer months but overall it’s a trend that shows a downtick in online activity. I bet the rainy days see more traffic too. You are welcome and have a great weekend too Harleena.
Hey Lisa,
Greta tips. Love #3 most. We all need time for break and that’s vital. Of course, work and money making would take up a lot of my time but make sure we have a little balance to enjoy life as well.
Take a break, go out with your love ones and you will come back even happier and pumped!
Worked for me all the time.
Oh yes, shared on Inbound too!
Thanks Reginald. That is something that many of us forget. I’ve done it more this year since my mom has cancer. Been spending more time offline and with family and friends. I just have to make sure I put some posts in the pipeline soon before the warm weather comes a calling me. Thanks for coming by Reginald and enjoy your weekend!
