new blog popular
Now that you have a blog, where to start to get traffic to it?

New Blogger? Get Your Blog Popular In 90 Days!

You need much exposure to be able to pay your bills, when I say bills I mean:

  • Your Domain
  • Hosting Fees
  • Keyword Research Tools
  • Themes and Plugins
  • Etc.

Whether you like it or not, as a new blogger you can’t run your blog to success without spending a dime on it unless you don’t want to be successful blogging.

As time goes on you need money to pay for these things, especially the domain and hosting aspect, and as well make some money from your writing online.

But For A Fresh Blogger

It just doesn’t come naturally; you need to attain some level of exposure. Your blog needs to be popular (even if it’s a little bit) before you can start making some bucks (to cover these things).

You would definitely agree with me that a blog needs to take care of itself at some level, if you are a part-time blogger, you really don’t expect to spend much on your website all the time from other sources probably your offline job right?

Right here in the post, am going to show you various ways and tips you can start replicating in order to get your blog popular.

My New Blogger Story

But before then, let me share a little story with you about how I got started. I started blogging in 2014 and it took me a whooping full year (12 Months) to start growing my blog and making it popular. This was because I never got to know what tips actually worked in making it popular.

So it took me 12 months to learn. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes. You really can’t grow and make your blog popular within a few months probably as early as 3 months if you follow the strategies that work.

But I want to make something clear to you right now:

“To make your blog popular, you should not just read tips, Read and Practice”

Take action immediately; start practicing the tips here right away. It’s really not what you read that provides results, but your ability to take action and make it work.

So let’s dive into what makes your blogging website popular really Fast.

take action

1. Lay The Foundation: Publish Great Content

This is the first and foremost. Before you can use other tips that would be highlighted in this post, you need to publish great content.

Now, most newer bloggers tend to get discouraged whenever they hear the term “Publish great content”. This is because they have the ego that they need to write that lengthy post of about 5,000 words long or so.

It’s not true, what is true?

What is the real definition of great content, in just three lines?

  • Content that readers can understand.
  • Content that solves readers’ problems.
  • That’s all!

The length of your posts does not really matter when it comes to creating quality content. If it’s well explained and able to solve readers’ problems then it’s a quality one.

However, do not make it a habit of publishing less than 1,000 words long articles. It just might not meet the criteria of quality content.

Google loves long content as they index it quickly and because it tends to explain in detail a particular topic.

So the first step to making your blog popular is to write quality content, that way you can follow the next tips to make it a success.

2. Commenting On Other Blogs

This is overlooked by many bloggers but it’s one of the most effective ways to get your newer blog popular. In fact, I use the blog commenting technique to get massive extra 4,175+ daily page views to my blog.

comments for new bloggers

This is how commenting works:

  • You visit a blog that talks on the same topic as your blog usually known as your niche.
  • Read the Articles on the blog and,
  • Leave your Opinions in the comment section.

Commenting on blogs has helped great bloggers like Chris Deewaard, Ryan Biddulph, and lots more get featured on top blogs which definitely made their blogs popular as they are exposed to a larger audience.

However, when you are commenting on blogs I always recommend you read the posts so you can get ideas of what to say in the comment section.

This way you are not seen as a spammer, you can check out this definitive guide to commenting the right way.

Leave comments on blogs. I have personally made it a habit to leave at least 30+ comments on different blogs daily. It helps make my blog popular as I would be pulling new visitors from those blogs to mine.

Make a habit to start commenting and you’d see how far you can go in growing your online presence and making it popular really fast.

You should develop a schedule for doing this as it helps you keep to other activities as well.

3. Do Not Neglect The Bloggers Association: Start Networking Right Away

No one ever became successful alone. If you really do not want to stay hidden in the blogosphere then you need to get up and start networking with other folks in your niche. Even seasoned bloggers have to network with new bloggers as their base may no longer be part of the blogosphere.

Other writers can help you make your blog popular really fast using just a few things that work, check them below;

If you really do not want to stay hidden in the blogosphere then you need to get up and start networking with other folks in your niche. Share on X

Join Facebook Groups Meant for Bloggers

This means Facebook can get you popular online.

  • Join Blogging Facebook Groups.

Problogger Facebook Group is one of the most active Facebook groups for bloggers you can start taking part right away.

Take Advantage of Popular Forums

Forums are also a great way to get yourself popular. It’s a community of members who share the same thoughts about a particular topic usually known as threads.

Members create threads and spike up discussions in the forums.

All you need do is join these popular blogging forums and become an active member. You are also given the opportunity to add a signature. Instead of adding any signature, add your website URL.

This way members get to know where you write and may decide to check out your blog.

However, you need to participate in the forums in order to gain trust and clicks to your website by making in-depth contributions and being seen as an expert in your niche.

Start leveraging blogging forums and create chances of getting your blog popular, all to your success.

Here are good blogging forums to get you started right away for you:

4. Give Guest Posting a Kick-through

While you create content for your own readers, how about writing and contributing to other blogs?

Guest Posting not only makes you popular but helps you build a relationship with top people who are known as influencers.

Contribute to their blogs, interact with the readers via your post and you stand a chance of making your blog popular really fast as you’d be exposed to a new audience, not your regular blog readers.

Audience who are ready to help promote your blog as well and create even more chances for popularity.

Take the bold step, and start contributing to other blogs in your niche: be sure to see results thereafter.

You could leave at least 2 guest posts monthly for a start and as time goes on, you improve.

5. Take Action, Continue Your Research, and Repeat the Above Steps

The advice I give startups more often is there are many tips online to help you grow by just heading on to Google search.

But, it doesn’t stop at this

Do not just read but put into action what you read. There are actually three groups of people in the blogosphere.

  • Those who Read.
  • People who read and share with others but don’t practice themselves.
  • And those who read, share with others, and use it to their advantage and success.

Start taking ACTION today as a new writer.

Wrapping all Up!

Getting popular as a fresh writer shouldn’t be any difficult when you follow the tips on this post however taking action remains the key!

Over to you

  2. Hi,

Awesome content you have here. It is true that it is very vital to lay down the right foundation which is the content of the blog. I learned a lot from your blog post. Thank you for sharing this one to all of us. 🙂

  3. Hi Prosper,

You have actually covered the key points for blog SEO. Newbie bloggers are running behind new strategy but they forget that simple things still work perfectly if done in right way.

    Thanks for sharing!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂

  4. Hi Prosper,

It’s nice to e-meet you. Thank you for sharing this post with us. It took me a couple years for my blog to take off. It’s a lot of work but it’s so worth it in the end. 🙂

The tips you shared here really do work – I did these things too when I was working on growing my blog. 🙂

Great post! Have a great week!

    Cori

      1. Hi Noah,

        Great write up buddy.

I personally think building a better blog from scratch takes a lot of time and you should be passionate about the topics that you cover.

Without blogging around the topics you love, if you’re just doing it for money, you’re NOT going to make any money. Also make sure to do some research about your competitors.

Find out what they are doing to make money and drive traffic to their sites. That’s how you get a fair idea about what works and what’s not. Networking is another key that keeps you apart from competition.

        Great insights. Keep rocking.

  5. Although I’ve been blogging for the past 2 years (which means I’m not a new blogger), I really enjoyed reading this post and able to pick up one or two gems. I especially like this quote: “To make your blog popular, you should not just read tips, Read and Practice”. Every time I sit down and just work on my site (instead of just reading) I see immediate results that gives me the momentum to tweak and improve the site.

  6. Hey Lisa
It’s really impressive post for new bloggers, i am really enjoyed during reading this post , because em really doing these type of things
Thank you for sharing awesome content

    1. Thanks Jeffiar, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Prosper did a great job on this one filled with tips for newbies and even for those more experienced at blogging. Thanks for coming by and have a great new week there!

  7. Hi Propser, Hey Lisa,

Great post! You make some fantastic points and give some awesome tips which I wish I had known years ago, when I first started blogging! At its heart, blogging is a community. If you don’t connect, you would be isolated, and you die in isolation. That’s why I believe that although content is king, connection is key!
    I will pass this along.

    Best regards,

    Pedro

    1. Hi Pedro, thank you. Prosper did an excellent job on this one. It surely is a community – one cannot blog it alone today. I love that phrase Pedro, “Connection is Key!”. Thanks for coming by and for your input. Love it! Have a great day and new week ahead.

    2. Hey Pedro,

Thanks for this wonderful line “connection is key” had to quote it on facebook ?

It’ about building a community and your friend network as Ryan always say

  8. Hi Prosper,

The tips mentioned here are fascinating. In fact, creating high-quality contents is a sure-fire way to get increased blog exposure.

Commenting is also remarkable because as other reads the insightful comments you make, they view you as an authority and expert in your niche. For example, my recent comments on a blog post got me a guest post opportunity.

Here’s what the owner of the blog said to me:

“Hi Moss, Your comments have inspired me to consider researching deeper into the ramifications of voice search and consider writing a blog post about it. If you’d ever like to guest post for my readers about some of the topics we’ve discussed here today, you’d be welcome.”

So, as you can see, blog commenting works like magic.

However, there many other ways to get your blog out there and make it popular in less time, such as “Adding your blog to blog communities.”

Blog communities are one of the best ways to get increased popularity, it’s really popular for blogs because other bloggers and website owners are frequently looking out to blog communities for information and networking. There are lots of blog communities where you can add your blog.

My advice is to stick with those that have amazing Google pagerank (PR).

  9. Hello Prosper and Lisa,

Nice to see that it only took you 12 months to figure these things out. It took me a lot longer.

I’ve been using these techniques for the past 4-5 months.

They definitely work, Although, as a new blogger, I wouldn’t really want to put a time frame on the time it’s going to take.

As long as we’re consistent with the blogging methods that you say, I have no doubt that someone will get an increase in popularity in their blog.

Great tips Prosper and I am definitely using them to help me grow my blog.

Thaks for sharing, have a great day 🙂

    Susan

    1. Good morning Susan, he did figure it out fast. I think it took me over 2 years! I think connection with other bloggers is key Susan as well as writing good content on a consistent basis. Some methods take much longer than others. I just started getting traffic from being active on Quora but it took over 6 months. I almost gave up but knew if I hung in, the traffic would come and it has 🙂
I’ve seen too many bloggers come and go within their first year. I feel sad when I find a broken link from a comment of a blogger that is no longer here 🙁
Thanks for coming by Susan and have a great day!

  10. Hi Prosper,

I’m amazed to read that you made it a habit to leave at least 30+ comments on different blogs daily!!! OMG
This is really awesome! How I can do that same?

I’m able to leave only 10 comments in 3-5 hours. I need to find the good article to leave my comment, after that I read the complete story because it helps me learn new things, gain knowledge and of course leave a good comments.

In rest of the day I’m doing my web designing work, communication with clients and finding valuable things for my new blog. That’s all!

I would love to know your smart work techniques. I really appreciate your suggestions and thanks for sharing this an informative article with us.

    – Rajinder

    1. Hey Rajinder,

Thanks for leaving your comment on this one.

Glad to know you are already leaving comments on 3-4 blogs at the moment.

I believe strongly “it’s not the amount of comments, but how quality they are.

One quality comment could land you guest posting opportunities, featuring on other blogs, interviews, and lots others.

My strategy is actually visiting blogs leaving comments and clicking through the names of other commenters on thesame post.

This way I get more comment opportunities however it all depends on quality and not quantity.

Have a nice day and share with your blogging buddies

  11. Hello Prosper,

    Thanks for the headsup.

Growing a blog is not as easy as creating a blog. One needs to have love for what he is doing to succeed.

Writing great contents is one way you put the love into action. And according to you, great contents are readable and understandable contents. But to add to that, great contents should also be findable esspecially by search engines.

Another point you brought up is blog commenting. I really love to comment on other blogs because it forms a bond between the author, myself and the readers and most of all brings traffic and expossure.

But one should bear in mind that it should be done the right way. Not spamming with words like “Nice post” etc. Comments should make sense and show you read the post.

Guest blogging according to Matt Cutts is now seen as spam. But it still has a legit version. Do not guest blog for the sake of the traffic. Do it because you love it. Do it because the contribution you want to make really comes from your heart.

Let me cut it short Prosper

    1. Yes Golden

Am a Big Fan of Guest Posting and Blog Commenting, it’s Fun and Good!

It helps me build relationship with other bloggers thereby increasing my visibility too!

I appreciate these awesome comment of yours.

      Please share with friends

Hi Prosper! Great to see you here! Hey Lisa!

These are fabulous tips! My favorites are commenting on other blogs, but make sure they are reputable blogs and Building a Community. I have found building your own community can be helpful not only for your blog, but for your livelihood because you can make so many friendships through networking.

These are great tips and ones I wish I knew over 8 years ago when I first started in my online adventure.

Thanks for the tips! Passing them along!

    Thinking of you, Lisa!

    1. Thanks Brenda, Prosper did a great job on this post for new bloggers. And great tips and reminders for us more experienced bloggers.
thank you – It was a long day Brenda. I felt so tired after. I took a nap which I haven’t done in a long time.
I appreciate your coming by and have a great rest of the week, it’s almost the weekend 🙂

  13. Hi Prosper,

You have certainly given the essentials for getting your blog popular in as little time as possible.

Not that is not going to take time.

All the things you suggest do take time.

Joining blogging groups and forums and contributing is a daily consistent process that will take time.

Commenting on other people’s blogs or guest posting.

    These all Take Time.

But I do believe that if you do these consistently for 90 days you’re going to see a tremendous jump in the popularity of your blog.

These are great suggestions and any new blogger would be smart to follow through on them.

Thanks to Lisa for hosting this very helpful article on her blog.

    -Donna

    1. Hi Donna,

Glad to see you comment here on Lisa’s Blog.

Growing and making a blog popular sure takes some time which I definitely agree with however it shouldn’t take much time than it should if one follows up!

Thanks for your contribution. Hope you share with others.

  14. Hello, Prosper. You’re in good company with Lisa, Ryan, Susan, and of course the Problogger crew.
Action and patience are key when starting a new blog.
I think the thing that ties all of these tasks together is a relationship.

Action, commenting, writing, participating in forums or groups, and guest blogging all build a connection.

Donna Merrill says blogging at its core is all about connecting – I agree, don’t you?

  15. You actually made some solid points about growing blog audience in 90 days. and frankly, you ain’t entirely wrong.

But one bitter truth that most newbie bloggers have to know is this,: Unless they have some $500 publicity fund,, It is impossible to have a personal blog, managed by 1 one person under to become popular under 3 months.

For someone who has no clue about blogging, SEO, social bookmarking, link building etc to become porpular in 90, well I am not saying its not possible,

    but… it is impossible

  16. Hi Prosper, Lisa is really a great blogger as well as yourself.
Is better to teach what work for you making it an experience teaching.
This post from what I know was written from experience. Great bloggers like Ryan, problogger, Susan Velvez, Lisa herself they are all good in this field.

And I mean if all the bloggers could really read this and take advantage, the blogosphere will become something else.

What make a blog to have authority is the interaction between Pro and newbies.

Blog commenting have helped me from this time being and I enjoy the process.

Guest posting is what I have really been lazy about due to offline activities. But I still give it a shot of at least two guest post a week since the day I learned the important.

Is good to have a mentor as well if I can add to this.

Prince Adewale of Worldwritershub.com inspired me on one of his article on why we all need blogging father. Is very important to blog popularity.
But this process will also require spending on recommended materials by your blogging farther.
    Just as you said.
Ryan posted why Bloggers that don’t spend money on premium materials can not make premium money. This is true. Spend and expect in returns that’s investment.

Thanks Prosper and Lisa for this good work you are doing here. Keep it up

    1. Hey Matthew,

Great to have you comment here and thanks for the kind words.
Blog commenting, guest posting and the likes are very important when growing a blog.
Thank you for taking the time to comment and share.
      Have a nice one!

    2. Thanks for the mention Mathew.

It should be “Prince Akwarandu” not “Prince Adewale”

Talk about blogging fathers, every newbie blogger needs them. Recently I made a post on blogging moms to follow too.

Have a great day bro 🙂

  17. Hello Prosper,

Nice to see you here on Lisa’s space 🙂

Great to go through your story up here. It’s always a hard road for every new comer to start in the blogging field.

Every one wish that their blogs could reach out to more and more people and they should become popular withing few months or
days. Sounds easy but the road is a tough one.

Blog commenting is always a friend of mine, as I regularly comment of 15 blogs and share their content on various social
media platforms. This helps a lot to gain our image in front of the crowd. Networking is always a key, its always good to break out
of our blogging bubble and connect to huge number of people.

    Thanks for the share.

    Shantanu.

    1. Well said Shantanu.

Very true, looks easy but tough. However consistency helps alot too,
Blog commenting and networking with other bloggers is helping alot of people gain exposure.

      Thanks for the contribution.

Share with friends on social media.

  18. Hmm… Prosper. Prosper.

Really Aweesome post you have here @lisa’s blog.

It’s true that most bloggers reads good articles like this but the problem is they dont put them into practice

And that’s why most bloggers doesn’t seem to get the good results they require.

You know, i have met a guy who have been using one same strategy to drive traffic to his blog for months now and i tell you, he is really getting good results.

Really seeing your hard work bro,
    Keep Moving Man.

    ~Sylvester Chidi

  19. Hey Prosper and Lisa,

Seeing a new face here is always great.

Getting your blog popular in 90 days isn’t practical. You shouldn’t even think like that.

Having patience and consistency is what makes your successful.

If you think about the time-bound, it will disappoint you.

Blog commenting has always been a friend of mine.

    ~Ravi

  20. Hi prosper Noah

    Great post as usual,

I think guest post should be taking seriously, it should be done often because it helps in diverse of ways. Like exposure, awareness, backlink, influence and so on.

    1. Hi Gbemileke,

Sure, Guest Posting is a good way to connect with others and build the relationship.
When done right would surely make up for others, such as traffic, awareness, back links etc.

However should be done to add quality to the host’s blog.

Thanks for stopping by Lisa’s blog.

  21. Great post on Lisa’s blog, Prosper.

Like every pro blogger wants it – the newbie blogger is in hot need of traffic too.

However, a few of them really wants to put in the work to reap the harvest in due season.

It’s amazing to have you share your story here, Prosper. As you said, to make your blog popular, you should not just read tips; read and practice.

    Practice is the key here.

How would a patient never take his medication as directed by the doctor and expect to get maximum results? It is the duty of any newbie blogger who wants to be successful to not only read but, read and practice, with patience.

That reminds me… These calls are building relevant relationships with other bloggers as you quite explained above. I enjoyed reading though I use most of the tips here 🙂

Thanks for sharing, Prosper. To the host, Lisa – keep ’em coming. Great day guys!

    1. Yea Prince,

Glad to have you comment on Lisa’s blog.

Thanks for relating and for the awesome contribution: ‘Read and Practice’ is Key.

  22. My first blog took almost 2 years to get popular it is because I was having no idea about blogging and was lazy too to write content. Recently I have started a new blog , so hope it will not take that long. Just following your guide.

    1. Hi Kadir,

Yes, we all face this at one stage especially if new.

Glad to know you’ve started a new blog. Sure following the tips should get you going smoothly.
