Top 10 SEO Tips Guide Will Help To Optimize Your E-commerce Website for SEO and Boost Sales
1. Set Up Efficient Keywords
Finding the correct keywords is the key to getting your e-commerce website to rank and is one of the top SEO tips. Take the time to do some in-depth keyword research. Then, use this research to choose the keywords that best suit your activity.
Long-tail keywords are the most effective at helping you to rank highly in specific niches where your competitors aren’t already ranking well. Keywords like this can help you to attract the right kind of traffic that you’re looking for.
Hence, this type of traffic can increase your conversion rate.
Remember that people are specific in their searches, and will type conversational queries into search engines when they’re looking for something. Think of your keywords in terms of the search intent of the user to get them right.

2. Use Strategic Keywords In Anchor Text
Anchor text can be used as a great solution to boosting your SEO. Your website is probably already very full of links that point to your pages. To maximize the potential of these links, you need to optimize your anchor text.
You can make your links look natural, with anchor text like “here”, but you should also use strategic keywords that you want to rank for. You must not use the same keywords for all of your anchor texts, or you risk being penalized by Google.
Including important keyword links in your product descriptions can also help to lead visitors to similar product pages that you would like to push.
3. Top SEO Tips Include Avoiding Duplicate Content
Duplicate content can be a serious enemy of the e-commerce website. Specifically, this issue can be particularly tough for e-commerce websites as they are writing a lot of product descriptions. These descriptions are often provided by a seller, who distributes their products to a lot of different websites.
The result of this is that e-commerce websites often display product descriptions that appear on several different websites.
Filter and category options can also lead to problems with duplicate content, as the filters create different URLs that have the same content. If you’re struggling to fix these issues, it can be worth seeking expert help from someone like Unravel Seo.
4. Write Compelling Product Descriptions
You know you have to write compelling headlines, but catchy product descriptions can have just as much impact on your conversion rate. This is another reason why you should stay away from using product descriptions provided by the manufacturer.
Keep your product descriptions unique and appealing with plenty of relevant keywords to make them more attractive to site visitors and Google. This is a really important top SEO tip for all eCommerce websites today.
5. Top Seo Tips Include Optimizing Your Product Images
E-commerce sites rely on images. Images are a factor that triggers sales. Your images should be of high quality, compelling, and unique.
Use images that show the product from lots of different angles, to recreate the in-store experience of picking up and turning over a product to look at it in detail.
Having great images isn’t enough on its own to help your website, especially if you want search bots to find those images. Images, when used correctly, have great SEO potential, as Google Image searches can send back a lot of traffic to your website.
Make sure that every image on your site has a suitable ALT tag. The ALT tag is the description where you can add valuable and unique keywords that appeal to search engines.
6. Optimize Your URL For Search Engines Crawl
URLs are a lot more important for your SEO than you might think that they are. Optimizing your URLs can help search engine bots find and crawl your website and tell them what it is about. Proper URL structure also eases your website indexation.
As a bonus, efficient URLs can tell your site, and visitors, what your page is going to be about, which improves their experience.
A good user experience keeps your audience on the website longer and gives you more chances to convert them into customers.
You can see my example below for my review of Agorapulse, a social media management tool that I LOVE. 🙂
Remember that you shouldn’t only think of SEO for search engines, but should also think of it in terms of improving your user experience.
7. Watch If Traffic Is Converting Into Sales
Growing the amount of traffic that reaches your site is one thing, but converting those visits into sales is quite another. You need to check that your regular visitors are turning into paid customers.
Google Analytics is a good way to analyze your traffic and spot any areas where you could make improvements.
You can then determine where your traffic is coming from, the devices used to generate it, the customer personas most likely to convert, and the conversions that you have generated through SEO.
8. Improve Usability in Your Top Seo Tips
Make your site navigation simple and easy. The worst mistake would be to offer a navigation path that isn’t clear. You should remember to link to your product pages from your home page and to offer relevant landing pages.
This is great for site users, as it makes it easy to navigate around your site. However, it also helps bots to crawl your website to find all your pages.
9. Avoid Broken Links
Next, you should aim to offer the best experience possible for any visitors to your site. Clicking on a page and ending up on an error 404 page because the link doesn’t work is not the result that any visitor wants or is expecting.
Having broken links is a terrible idea, as it’s off-putting for users and search engine bots. To catch broken links, run regular crawls to detect any 404 issues, and redirect or relink any that you find.
Here at Inspire to Thrive we use a plugin called the Link Whisper. It’s a wonderful way to keep ahead of your broken links and find your internal links quicker.
10. Fresh Content for Your Top Seo Tips
Google loves websites that have fresh content. You can no longer build a website and forget about it. You must continually make updates and keep your content fresh.
Thus having a blog on the website helps you with this! You can add news and updates about your products and services. Providing useful information to help consumers make decisions is very helpful.
In reality, who wants to read news about something relevant 2 or more years ago? In some industries even 2 months ago can be old content.

Hi Lisa,
my one tip for e-commerce SEO is that if you have your own products and intend to submit them to Amazon, you publish them first on your site and then wait a few months for Google to index them properly. Otherwise, Amazon listing will overtake yours in the SERPS, which will mean yours get put in the supplemental index as duplicate content.
Hi Nikola, Thank you for that great tip! That’s the first tip I’m hearing this one. Good to know if I publish another eBook. I’m sure this tip will be super helpful for others. Have a wonderful day Nikola!
