Best Blog Post: How You Can Make A Mind-Blowing Blog Post

Learning how to write the best blog post doesn’t happen overnight. Looking back, with over 750 posts under my belt, I’ve realized that maybe I didn’t have it all figured out when I started. It took me years to find the ideal length for a blog post and it’s not the same all the time.

When life gets busy, don’t shy away from taking risks or making mistakes. These things make your voice more genuine and trustworthy for your followers who seek authenticity online.

Your early post about gardening seems ironic now that you’ve recently revived your garden after struggling to keep up with it while starting your blog over a decade ago. It feels good to get back to normal activities while still pursuing your passion for blogging.

As you continue blogging, you’ll discover what works and what doesn’t. In this piece, you’ll learn about what has worked well and what hasn’t in over a decade of blogging on Inspire To Thrive.

What does it mean by worked well? Blog posts that received more traffic and converted into leads and sales.

Some of these methods you may remember from older posts. Others are new methods I tried and shared with you along the way here to drive blog traffic.

What Is A Blog Post, Exactly?

A blog is a written piece of information on the web. The most recent posts appear at the top of the blog. Most blogs are written about a particular topic or niche. Some do cover several topics and niches together.

Many blogs are written by a team of writers or an individual. Some allow contributors to post to their blogs.

So, a blog post is one post on the blog. A blog itself can consist of hundreds or thousands of blog posts.

What do I mean by worked well? Blog posts that received more traffic and converted into leads and sales.

How To Prepare For Writing The Best Blog Post

There are several things you will need to do before you start writing your blog post to make it effective.  They are:

  • Brainstorm your topic.
  • Doing research for your blog post.
  • Create an outline.
  • Look for graphics to use in your blog post.
  • Decide where to link to, internal and external.

Tools like Google Trends, Ahrefs, Answer the Public, and Ubersuggest is some tools you can use to find keywords to help lift your post with SEO in mind.

The Writing of Your Blog Posts

Begin with your title though some people write first and then write a title. Whichever way works best for you to get started.

However, be sure your title is not long. You can use this tool from Moz.

It’s a fabulous tool to be sure your title count is correct and that it shows up in the search engine without any words being cut off. Thanks to Palesh for sharing this headline tool with me. He recently wrote a blog post on how to write a title that will convert.

Now, for the paragraphs make sure to keep them short and fairly sweet. Readers sometimes like to scan blog posts for content and not have to read long blog posts. Yoast recommends paragraphs not to exceed 300 words.

In between each of your paragraphs be sure to have headers. Your Title should be H1 and then from there, you go down H2 to H3, etc.

Therefore, having this structure provides the proper amount of white space that is easy for the eyes for reading.

Another great tool for your writing is Grammarly. However, you may still need to proofread your blog post before going live. And don’t fret, if you find something after publishing, you can always edit your post.

Best App For Writing Blog Posts

You love using the Right Blogger AI tool for quicker and sometimes even better content writing! Furthermore, you can input an old blog copy and receive multiple outputs to choose from. You can also edit any of the copies as needed.

Alternatively, you can have the app generate an entire blog post for you. This feature is great for starting a post when you have an idea.

Then, you can quickly add to it and conduct further research to create relevant content. (You can also upgrade for AI-generated social posts and much more.)

This tool is an excellent way to kickstart your content writing! No more writer’s block for you. It comes with 85 different tools you can use.

Your Content: Relevant And Timely

Next, your content should be relevant, easy to understand, and answer questions. What is the pain point of your readers? Learn what they are and then address them in your writing.

Depending on your niche, your posts may need to be relevant with the most up-to-date content. Oftentimes, you may want to be the first to write about something. Other times, you may want to see what others have to say first.

Other types of blogs are considered evergreen. Evergreen content is content that lasts forever with few or no updates needed. The subject matter of these types of posts is not a topic that changes often.

For example, my blog posts on social media have to be updated often as social media changes. But other posts about marketing or blogging may be evergreen.

Do note, it is essential to have some evergreen content on your blog as well as some timely content.

What Is The Best Length For A Blog Post?

That’s been a long debate by bloggers for years. Bloggers have been asking what is the optimal length for a blog post for years now.

Some bloggers say you need at least 3,000+ words. However, others like Seth Godin can get away with 100 words.

Research does show that longer posts do better in search than shorter blog posts. According to Blog Tyrant:

Research shows that, on average, the top 10 results for most Google searches are between 2,000 and 2,500 words.

However, if you use the Yoast plugin they recommend at least 900 words. Whatever you do, be sure not to add in words for fluff. No one wants to read fluff content today.

Life is too short! You can decide for your blog which length is the best for a blog post.

The newer generative SEO doesn’t go by length of the blog post but rather by the E-A-T principle. It is based on expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness.

What Are the Best Days To Publish A Blog Post?

The favorite days to post a blog post may vary depending on your niche. Neil Patel’s blog posts are sent out on a Sunday. Other businesses send them out on Mondays.

Fridays seem to be the fewest day for publishing posts. However, the fewest day may be the best as you will have less competition, right?

What Is The Best Time To Publish A Blog Post?

The best time to publish a blog post is when your writing is ready to go. After proofreading and double-checking your grammar, it’s time to hit that publish button.

I used to only publish on certain days and certain times but then realized many of my readers are not in the same time zone as me. Now I publish when something is ready to go.

Many bloggers fail because they are afraid to hit the publish button. Remember, there is always an edit button you can use afterward if you do find an error.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on your topics, you may want to add an FAQ section to your blog post. These are great for readers who want some quick answers when searching for something online.

Not only that but Google looks for these as you can see which posts have these in your Google Analytics.  They may be used for an SEO ranking factor, one of the 200 factors for your piece to rank.

You can watch this video to learn more how to track posts and visits from this YouTube video.

Finally, Publish It

This may sound silly but many may write a piece but never publish it. They wait for the perfect blog post to be written and never finish it. They start another and another.

Yet, no posts go live. What good does it do if you write a post but do not publish it? You have to get over your fears and hit that button now. Don’t worry about the best length for a blog post, you can always update and add more to the blog later.

Now, years later you may want to rebrand your blog – here are some tips on how to do it right!

publish a blog post

Don’t Forget About Marketing

  • Send in an email campaign.
  • Link it in forums like Quora, Share Biz Sugar or Reddit.
  • Update it months later or when the content is outdated.
  • Comment on other blogs that link back to yours.
  • Advertise!

Advertise your blog on search engines, use social media ads, buy ads directly on relevant websites and use some native ads. Each of these methods does require some testing. So, have some time and money set aside for marketing your blog.

However, marketing your blog can take longer than writing the original post. So save yourself some time to do that and get your posts noticed out there.

If you are sharing on social media, note that many posts on social do not last long so you must re-post and do it more often on Twitter than not.

Tag Others Mentioned in Your Post

One last tip is to tag others mentioned in your post on social media. Be sure they know you have mentioned them in the blog article. You can also send them an email with the blog link.

If you want to know if you have been mentioned online or on social media, use a tool like Brand24 to help you.

Lastly, Update The Blog Post If Necessary

Some of your evergreen blog posts may not need updating. However, if you are writing about social media as I do on Inspire To Thrive you may need to update them more often.

With that in mind, only change the date if you are updating quite a bit of the content. If it is only a paragraph or an image you don’t need to change the date. Google will be able to see through it.

Think about from your customers point of view. Is the newer information more relevant? Will it help them by updating that piece of content? Don’t just update for the sake of updating the blog posts.

In Conclusion of Writing The Best Blog Posts

Writing the best blog posts means focusing on clarity and engagement. Start with a strong hook that grabs attention. Keep paragraphs short and sentences even shorter.

Furthermore, use simple words, but don’t shy away from necessary technical terms. Stay on point and avoid filler.

Make sure each sentence pushes your message forward. Don’t be vague or hesitant; be bold and clear in your statements.

Finally, always provide value—whether it’s information, insight, or entertainment—to make your post worth reading.

What other tips would you add to how to write a blog? What do you think is the best length for a blog post?  I’d love to hear about how you write your posts and which methods and tools work best for you.

  4. Akaahan Terungwa

    Hello Lisa,

It’s great to connect again and I heartily congratulate you on your 400th post. The opening of this entry leaves me with memories of an article I read about a clock that got a nervous breakdown from thinking about the millions of ticks a year instead of focusing on just a tick per second…certainly, focusing on just the task at hand clearly helps – as you’ve proved.

I personally love the nice quote from Einstein here too: how can any sane human do the same thing every time and expect different results? Clearly, that must be madness, believe me! Over at my blog, I’m experimenting and consciously spending more time doing the things that work, instead of the things that merely occupy my time.

Make your day great – I hope to be around to congratulate you when you celebrate your 1000th post! Once again, congratulations!

    Always,
    Terungwa

    1. Thank you Akaahan. glad to see you back here. Great analogy, we can only do one thing at a time. If we look at the big picture we may do nothing, I know that can be the case wth me. Make it into small steps and it’s much easier.
That is one of my favorite quotes of all times. Many do it and wonder why nothing changes, really?
Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead there.

It’s amazing to see your progress mam, 400 blog posts is seriously a mean feat. I just hit 200 recently and I know it’s such a daunting task to publish great content day in and day out.
Do keep up the good work, you are an inspiration!
    Thank you!

    1. Thank you Aditya. It sure is to post day after day and week after week. It’s a passion I guess. Glad I’m inspiring to you. You are welcome. Do have a great weekend ahead and hope to see you back again!

      1. Aditya Nath Jha

Thanks mam, I will try and have an awesome weekend and finish few more awesome posts in this time. Meanwhile, you too enjoy the day and keep blogging good!

  6. Hey Lisa,

    Congrats:)

You have written 400 blog post at you blog. It’s really amazing and surprising for me.

I wouldn’t imagine that you have devoted that much time to this blog. Salute to you for this.:) When I come to read this post there was something which has encouraged me a lot.

Both the list you have mentioned above are really interesting.
I haven’t used many of them. I will try them soon.

    Thanks for this post.

    Hope you have great weekend.:)

    ~Ravi

    1. Hi Ravi, It’s surprising to me too. I sure have. I don’t know how either with everything else in my life but it’s a passion of mine. Glad to hear it has encouraged you. Let me know some of the new ones you try out, love to know how they work out for you along the way. You are welcome for it and have a great weekend too.

  7. Lisa congrats on hitting this milestone.

What I really love your blog for is that you share your stories and provide useful information.

As for Adrienne I really agree that she is a brilliant blogger and awesome commentator.

Really looking forward to more post on your site wishing you a wonderful week.

    1. Thank you Peter. Glad to know you do find them useful. I do try to share things as I go along. Why hold the info in right? Yes, she is one of the first bloggers I met along with Mayura and Brenda. Thank you and I hope you have a great weekend ahead Peter.

  8. Hi Lisa,

It’s my first time to your blog, and already I’m glad I found it!

I’m a bit surprised by some of you results and not by others. I just recently connected with Adrienne Smith and I’m really enjoying engaging with her. We’ve had some real fun back and forths, lol… She is awesome!!!! I am excited about meeting new bloggers and engaging with them and offering them a lot of value. It’s a great way to network and earn influence as we build our own audiences.

I’ve never heard of Paperblog, so that’s one I definitely want to check into; and I’ve just started getting involved a little with Klinkk.com.

I’ve gotten a Triberr account, but I haven’t really started using it yet. Looks like I need to from the sounds of it. Some of the Directories that are working really well for me are Kingged.com, DoSplash, and Inbound.org.

I’m thinking about getting more into technorati as well, but I’m not sure at this point?

I’m really surprised by the lack of traffic from LinkedIn? I get a HUGE amount and it’s by far my #1 social network, but I get a good amount now from Twitter and Facebook as well. However, I get a significant amount of engagement on Facebook and Twitter, and especially on my blog.

It’s great to connect with you and I look forward to reading more of your posts. I will be sharing on my social networks as well.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Sincerely,
    Don Purdum

    1. Hi Don, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Sorry in the late response but if you see may latest post you’ll understand. Adrienne sure is awesome. She is one of the first bloggers I met along the way.
Triberr is the best – I can’t imagine blogging without it but as I’ve said to others give it time. It doesn’t happen overnight.
I tried to get on technorati but had issues connecting and received no response from them. If you can, I’d love to know how it goes. I
Very interesting on LinkedIn, how do you share your posts there? In the stream or in groups or both? I’m always afraid to share my own stuff there – like it’s not good enough, crazy huh? Thanks for connecting and I hope to see you back again Don.

      1. Hi Lisa,

No worries here. There are only so many hours in a day, right?

I will get just have to investigate Triberr more and figure out how it works and how the community engages. I just haven’t taken the time really.

In regards to LinkedIn; it has been HUGE for me!!!!

My targeted network is nearly 3500 and growing right now. I share my articles and ideas both on my wall and in the groups.

But like every other tool, the magic happens when you engage with the the content of others on the wall and in the groups you choose. Never be afraid to share on LI!!!!

        I personally love it!

  9. Hi Lisa,

Congrats on 400 posts! That’s a lot and you’ve done quite well. I’m surprise that Google+ didn’t bring Mich traffic. Hmmmm. And still I don’t get tumblr…something which I could never figure out how to add quality bloggers there. I always find them the hardest. So I kinda put them a little bit in the back burner. Anyway, thank you for sharing me this post. Hope you feel better and may you have a blessed weekend.

    Angela

    1. Thank you Angela. Do you find Google+ to be one of your top sources of traffic Angela? I sometimes wonder if it’s the time we put into the social sites that work best for us or the niche itself? You are welcome and I’m starting to feel better…Have a great weekend ahead.

      1. Tell you honestly, Lisa, I don’t even know how to view my stats which traffic are coming from where. I don’t really use Google Analytics that much. I view it from time to time but it confuses me still. Nowadays, I just rely more on my OFFLINE business rather than the ONLINE. So many things here that really confuses me.

        1. Hi Angela. I also use a plugin called SlimStat here. That also tracks your traffic. Maybe you could try that? How does it confuse you – the Google analytics? I will look for a tutorial for you on it. Interesting how that works for you. Thanks for coming by and for your comment Angela. Hope you have a nice weekend!

  10. Hi Lisa,

Congrats on your accomplishment. Now I know what to do and what to avoid. I got some great resources from your list, I am gonna check it out for sure. All new for me, only triberr did I knew, but hardly used.

The most awesome traffic is indeed organic traffic as the bounce rate will be very less from it. I also use stumbleupon, but the bounce rate is too damn high, ruining the overall bounce rate.

Thank you for sharing this. You made my day. Have an awesome weekend.

    1. Thank you Rohan. Stick with Triberr, it’s really great once you do. It takes a while to get results from it as I always gave up in the beginning with it. It’s worth sticking with! Glad to have made your day.
Thank you for coming by and commenting. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

  11. You have written a very great post here, i appreciate your effort and commitment to bringing up this unique post.

  12. Hi Lisa.

Congrats! 400 posts is some accomplishment.

I use many of the same traffic sources. Some rock, others don’t work as well for me. I got little Google traffic in the past but my new blog – which I launched yesterday – should provide me with search traffic like yourself.

Twitter and other bloggers are my #1 traffic sources, and Facebook is rounding the curve. Since I’m active on Triberr again I’m seeing a quick and stead surge through this site as I’m a member of many tribes and actively work them.

I feel being super active on any network, sharing content and engaging frequently is the way to go. If you’re active, you can boost traffic through many different traffic source.

Thanks a ton for the share. Here’s to the next 400!

    Ryan

    1. Hi Ryan, thank you. No where near yours though. I was amazed to see how many you reached! I can’t imagine hitting over 3000+ . New blog? Are you keeping old one? Me too on the Twitter and other bloggers. I love Triberr. I can’t imagine blogging without it. You are everywhere Ryan, I see you when I leave comments at other places and there is Ryan again.
Thanks and I hope to at least hit 1000 one day. You surely have set a bar in blogging!
Have a great day and weekend ahead with your travels.

      1. Haha I am trying Lisa, and likewise. You’re all over the place yourself. Leaving my old blog behind but I have a redirect in place to my new one. Have a great weekend.

  13. Hi Lisa,

Thanks for sharing all that. After 400 blog posts you must be quite an expert. I’m going to share this post on our Facebook page.

Have you discovered anything about what types of blog posts work best for you? For example, in general have you found longer posts get more traffic than shorter posts? Have you found posts with strong engaging images have a lower bounce rate? Are list type blog posts more successful, etc.

I just wondered if you drawn any conclusions from the types of blog posts as well as the very useful conclusions you’ve drawn about tools & traffic sources.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

    1. Hi Mike, thank you. I have tested that out and the longer posts did NOT bring the most traffic surprisingly. I found the posts on blogging vs SEO and Social Media tend to get the most traffic and comments. You can see that in my sidebar, right side, bottom, the most popular posts – all include bogging. I also found leaving comments on other blogs and network sites help as well as leaving a few days in between posts. I have not noticed the image effect but do note people seem to like the posts with infographics.
You are welcome Mike and I hope the answers help you. Have a wonderful day and weekend ahead.

  14. Hi Lisa,
Congratulations on completing such a huge milestone. We feel great to know that we have 400 high quality masterpieces of useful information for us from you.
Definitely Google would have realised its mistake of giving your blog a drop in pagerank and traffic 😛 . But I am sure you would continue to receive this much praise in terms of traffic from Google and your readers like us.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Vineet

    1. Hi Vineet, nice to see you here again. Thank you. Google did not drop the traffic just the pagerank as I’ve been keeping an eye on it. One of these days the Pagerank will come back, or they may drop it forever for all as rumored. Google keeps on making changes. I was surprised to still see they bring the most traffic though. What are you top 3 traffic drivers Vineet?

  15. Barbara Charles

    Hi Lisa,

Great, great post. First let me say congratulations on 400 blog posts! Wow! Awesome! Can’t wait to get there!

Second, this is a great list of what worked and what didnt’ and I really want to dig down deep into and find out if I can drive some traffic that way. Many of these I have not heard of. Many I have but never tried. First thing on my list because I do have a new website and want to use some of your suggestions to see what happens. You’re right about Triberr – love that one!

So some of the ones that didn’t work for you, also didn’t work for me. LinkedIn was a bust for sure although I still use it for non-blogging business.

Great list and thank you so much. Very valuable.
    Regards,
    Barbara

    1. Hi Barbara, thank you. I’m sure you will if you continue on. Don’t be afraid to try new things and start with just one at a time to give it a good shot. LinkedIn is great for many things but maybe not for driving traffic to our blogs? It will be interesting to see if it does work for other bloggers in that way – so we can learn more.
I’m glad you found this valuable Barbara and enjoy your day ahead!

  16. What a beautiful surprise this morning Lisa!
I use Linkody to monitor my backlinks and this morning while checking my mails, I got an alert indicating a dofollow backlink from this post. The next thing I did was rush here and what I found not just the link but a wonderful recommendation. That makes it more beautiful to have you in my community. And of course, it will be unfair not to mention that I get traffic too from this blog as a constant reader and commentator. What a beautiful community!

And who doesn’t know that star of a blogger called Adrienne? I know her because I’m not leaving under a bridge and her blog is a wonderful source of traffic and inspiration.

Now, congratulations on this record. 400 blog posts represent hours of hard work, research, writing, creativity, etc. We have benefited so much from reading your works Lisa.

You have also mentioned a lot of tools you use here and this makes this post more resourceful. You did not only tell us your story. you also revealed your secret. I love your note on Google. Though it’s a powerful source of traffic, it should not be completely relied.

Thanks for the shout out. We will continue to read this blog Lisa so keep sharing those beautiful ideas.

    1. Hi Enstine, well your site was deserving of it and it showed clearly in the stats. Numbers don’t lie, right? Yes, the same with Adrienne’s too.
Thank you for saying that the posts benefited others here Enstine, Helps me to continue on.
Yes, I remember how it was first blogging and I always said to myself I would share what works to help others along the way. I also shared some that haven’t worked.
Thanks again Enstine for everything and have a wonderful day!

  17. Hey Lisa,

Congratulations on reaching the 400 blog post mark. That’s a pretty good achievement. I actually like Stumbleupon. If you hit the right subject it can bring a huge amount of visitors. I had one post last week that that was producing over a thousand views a day for three days. Sure a lot of them bounce of straight away but some do stick around. I also noticed a lot more clicks on my affiliate links. That being the case I will continue to use Stumbleupon.

I wonder too if the extra traffic will boost my Alexa ranking. If that’s true it may also lift my Google ranking. Must look into that.

Other than that Google is my best traffic source, then bloggers then Facebook.

    Thanks for your post.

    1. HI Peter, thank you. Interesting how StumbleUpon has worked for you, do you mind if I ask what type of niche? I’m always curious when something works for someone else etc. Extra traffic should boost your Alexa ranking. It may not on Google ranking – they take so many more factors into that one now- and they change those factors along the way regularly.
Thank you for coming by and welcome to Inspire to Thrive Peter.

      1. Sure, it’s a sports betting niche. In just over three months my Alexa hit about 200,000. According to Google analytics I have over 2000 links to it. I’ve even got Google asking to place sports related ads on the site. Yeah, right, as if that is going to happen.

I’m pretty pleased with that considering there are those who believe Google will penalise them if they link to it. Weird when you consider some of the sites I’m linked to have a PR6 rank. Besides, if that was true why would Google want to place their ads on my sites?

        1. Very interesting Peter, thank you for sharing with us here. Love to know how it goes over the next few months. Have a great weekend ahead.

  18. Hey Lisa,

Wow, 400 posts. I running right behind you!

This blog post is a great reference to me since I’m open to looking to use more traffic sources. I just signed up with Kingged.com and looking to see how it will help drive traffic.

I actually didn’t know that Bing had a webmasters tool, or at least i forgot about it LOL… but I did a post on adding sitemaps using Google webmaster tools, but why not add it to Bing as well. The more the merrier right?

I use to use Bizsugar but something happened with my account and was unable to log back in. Also they never gave me validation to change my password when i requested it. I’ll look into creating a brand new account and start from scratch.

Thanks for sharing and I’ll be coming back to look at those other resources!

    1. Hi Sherman, that’s neat, how many years have you been blogging now? Great, let me know how you like Kingged. Bing has some difference metrics and info than Google Webmaster tools so It’s a great way to check more things.
I heard BizSugar’s site had been slowed down but that they were working on upgrading the servers. Let me know if you still have an issue there. I could contact someone there for you. You are welcome Sherman.
Have a great day and weekend ahead.

  19. Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on reaching the 400-post mark – What a wonderful achievement!

What a valuable thing you’ve shared – a list and summary of what has worked for you over the last 400 blog posts – thanks so much for giving this info out!

Okay, this is a SUPER LIST – bookmarking right now for future continual use….

This is a treasure trove, Lisa, and I thank you!

Have not heard of NewsMeBack, Paperblog, or EnstineMuki, which I will check out.

I love posts like this that will GO ON being valuable as we check out every little tidbit of value on all the pages you’ve linked to.

Thanks much and have a wonderful week.

    Carol Amato

    1. Hi Carol, thank you. I hope it helps others along their blogging journeys. I remember how it felt first starting out. Like being lost out in the jungle.

You are welcome. I hope you have a great day and weekend ahead Carol.

  20. Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on achieving this feat! 400 is a huge number and admire you to stay the course and publish these many blog posts consistently over the years you have blogged.

Some of the tools you shared in this post, have been my favorites too! However, some of them not so much. For example I like Triberr but I could not so far pay my full attention to the tool.

I like Klout and I have a decent score. But, I can’t say that it has given any traffic or anything of significance to me so far.

However your list is an awesome resource for me to keep track of myself and also to go back to your post and I am wondering what should I do now next! Thank you for sharing and congratulations one more time!

    Regards,
    Kumar

    1. Hi Kumar, thank you. I would not say huge but a number if I had known I’d reach may never have started.
I sure do love Triberr still to this day – I can’t imagine blogging without it! What did you not like about it?
I would definitely recommend you use it more and don’t give up, it takes time to build up.
I hope it will help you Kumar. I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a great weekend ahead.

  21. Congratulations on your 400th post Lisa!

What a milestone that is! I am so grateful that you shared the links to what gave you such popularity. The one thing I always forget to do is Bing! It’s on a post-it as I read through your post. And that post-it won’t come off my computer until I get there.

For me, the most “action” I get is Facebook and Google+ lately. I meet more and more people on the Google+ platform that I can connect with. I’m also in blogging groups and that’s how others get my blog out. So far so good.

Again, Thank you for sharing all these links and have yourself another 400 blog posts to celebrate!

    -Donna

    1. Hi Donna, thank you. Of course, I always share what I learn here with you. It’s hard if you are doing it on your own – as I remember those first days blogging. How could you forget bing? LOL.
Interesting about Google+ as Bren was saying she doesn’t get much from it and myself included. Do you spend most of your time there? I started to at the beginning of the year but could not keep up.
You are welcome and I hope you are having a fantastic Friday Donna and a great weekend ahead there.

  22. Congratulations on your 400th post Lisa! That is quite a milestone girlfriend! Time sure does fly when you’re blogging, right? LOL

Thanks for sharing these sites and tools with us Lisa. I was going through the list and found a couple new sites to check out and there were some like you that didn’t work for me either that I eventually dropped like Digg and Just Retweet. JR was working well with the work from home blog but it’s not doing too well for this one.

Yes Adrienne is awesome isn’t she? It’s no wonder you get traffic from her…she is known for sharing good stuff and that is you doll!

Congratulations again Lisa! I wish you many many more successful years in blogging! And thank you for connecting with me three years ago! You are the one who opened the door for me in the twitterverse! Don’t know where I would be had you not.

Hope you have a fabulous week! Happy Monday/

    1. Thanks Corina, time sure does fly blogging. I hate to look up at the clock and see how the day goes while online. I’m glad you found some new sites to check out along the way. You didn’t find JustRetweet helpful? I still use it on my Inspire to Thrive Twitter handle a few times per week. Adrienne is so awesome and I’ve learned a lot from her along the way. It is hard to believe I’ve known you ladies for 3 years now! So happy to hear I was the one who opened the door to Twitterverse for you Corina.
And it’s Friday already, what does that tell you about my week? LOL. Enjoy Friday and the weekend ahead my friend!

  23. Hey Lisa,

Wow, 400 posts already! Doesn’t it just seem like yesterday! Well I’m glad you hung in there because had you not I wouldn’t have met you and been able to call you my friend.

I appreciate you sharing with us which sites are bringing you traffic and which ones you’ve used yet aren’t really bringing you the type of traffic you had hoped.

I was so surprised and thrilled to see that my blog brings you the most traffic. Yay!!! That’s because with CommentLuv enabled we can see your awesome headlines and want to follow you back over here. Yep, what better way to get other people’s eyeballs on your blog posts right!

I hope you’ll be hanging around for another 400 posts Lisa. We never know what the future holds but that’s really saying something that you’re still here and I sure hope you’re enjoying it.

Good luck with that garden now. I wish I could grow one but then again, that’s a lot of work.

    Have a great week.

    ~Adrienne

    1. I know huh Adrienne? I can’t believe it already. Me too Adrienne, glad we’ve become friends and the others I’ve met along the way. Yes, your site did bring in the most – interesting huh? I wasn’t surprised. I hope so too Adrienne and believe I will be sticking around. I hope I can continue with that Adrienne – I used to love playing in the garden and seeing things grow. I hit a little bump in the road that I’ll explain later, hopefully it won’t keep me down. Take care Adrienne and have a great rest of the week there. Thanks for coming by as always.

  24. Congrats on the 400th post… and they’re all fantastic! Thanks for putting this together… very helpful if I ever get back to mine!

    1. Hi Nancy, thank you. I hope you do get back to yours, but I know how life can get in the way sometimes. Thinking of you today and hope all goes well.

  25. I’m at 1000+ (more if I had kept the ones from 2003-2006), but I still haven’t been able to zero in on more than direct search and Facebook. The others are far behind in my numbers. LinkedIn never brought me anything, so I’m thinking of dropping it.

    1. Hi Linda, thanks for coming by today. Is Twitter in the top 5 or 10 for you? I would not recommend dropping LinkedIn, it’s great to make connections for employment, networking, groups and much more. I’d love to see if anyone gets traffic from them that we can learn from. It will be interesting to see how all respond. I appreciate your input Linda. Have a great day.

      1. It’s in the top 5. I just checked, and this month it’s divided as follows:
organic reach: 301, direct: 145, facebook: 59, twitter: 37 and so on.

        1. Thank you Linda, interesting. Only difference with mine is Twitter before Facebook but that’s where I spend more of my time so it makes sense too.

  26. Hi Lisa; Congratulations on reaching 400 posts! You really know your stuff and I always learn something from you. Google search, Stumbleupon (an old post of mine got recommended about a year ago and it does bring daily views still. I understand what you mean about the bounce rate and it is quite high, but, ever since I removed the sharing buttons at the top of my posts, (a tip from Strategic Mama), the bounce has decreased), Twitter and Facebook give me the most visitors. I’ve tried many of the other things you mentioned, but don’t really have the time to pursue them. Love Hootsuite though!

    1. Hi Debbie, Thank you – glad to know you do learn something here. It will be interesting to see if Facebook and Twitter tops everyone’s list that comes by here. I think people either love Hootsuite or Buffer – it’s really a matter of personal preference. Both are excellent must have tools for bloggers. Thanks for coming by and sharing your insights Debbie. Have a great week ahead.

  27. Congrats on 400 posts Lisa! It’s interesting to see your lists of what worked and what hasn’t for you. I’ve done about a dozen of your “worked” lists and will continue to do so. I haven’t received any traffic from Linkedin either but I have connected with some pretty great folks in groups there that have been helpful to my writing. Google+ is one of those that I never really liked and I don’t get much from it either. My biggests are always FB and Twitter. My two favs anyone!

Congrats again on the 400! I can’t wait to see your next 400!

    1. Hi Bren – thank you. As any FYI I do not recommend ditching LinkedIn -it’s great if one is looking for a job or someday may need to. A great way to connect with others and show your best professional self. Groups there are wonderful too. I’ve gone to events via groups locally. An invaluable tool. I wonder why on Google+, it will be interesting to see what others will comment with on that one. Thanks again Bren for visiting, commenting and being a loyal reader turned awesome friend.

      1. I think G+ is more technically niche driven personally. Not too many folks are interested in “girly parts” 😆 well, not at least, clothed ones! I’ve heard a lot of my author friends say G+ doesn’t do much for their book sales either. I guess it’s all a niche marketing strategy? But if you don’t have full-time to put into it, you’re not going to get much either, right?

        1. Brenda, that’s the ironic part, you do have to put the time into but so many quit before they see success. I think the niche is more techie stuff and not so much girly stuff on Google+. BTW are you still on Tumblr?

    2. Akaahan Terungwa

      Brenda,

Aside Google, FB is the next biggest traffic sender down to my blog. Sadly, I can’t say the same of twitter – since I’m largely experimenting with it still and haven’t really had success yet. One great thing I’ve discovered is that success replicates itself and leaves enough clues for others to follow.

      Make the day great!

      Always,
      Terungwa
