TubeBuddy Review: Turns the Lights on Your YouTube Channel

TubeBuddy is a powerful, yet easy-to-use software that helps you grow your YouTube channel.

It’s designed for people who are serious about their content and want to take it to the next level.

TubeBuddy has helped over 100,000 creators grow their channels by providing them with an all-in-one solution for managing, analyzing, and optimizing videos.

Not only that but, TubeBuddy also offers video editing tools so you can create professional-looking content without having any expensive equipment or skills.

Let’s see if it can help you grow your youtube channel or is it worthless.

My TubeBuddy Review for Growing Your YouTube Channel

For years I worked in the dark on YouTube until TubeBuddy, a video SEO tool was introduced to me.

Do you ever wonder why you are not getting more views on your YouTube channel? You are not alone as there are over 2 billion active users on YouTube.

Yes, that is over 2 BILLION users there on that channel!

How can you make your videos ever show up and be seen?

Recently, I’ve found a tool for YouTube to help with that. The credit for this must be given to Ileane Smith who guided me along with this tool called TubeBuddy.

TubeBuddy is a video SEO tool to help your videos get organic reach.

As with everything social media, blogging, and business today, you need the right tools to help you improve your rankings and save you precious time. Investing in tools is investing in you and your business.

So here is my TubeBuddy review for you!

What is TubeBuddy?

TubeBuddy is a FREE or paid tool to help you with your YouTube channel and more. More you ask? Yes, you can actually post a video to YouTube and Facebook with one click! What I loved about this tool is that you can use it from your browser (Chrome) for FREE. (I understand it also works for Safari users.)

Of course with the paid version there are MORE bells and whistles. Hence, you can start with just $4.99/mo. as I have for these much nicer extras.

However, with the FREE version, you can still be guided on what tags to use on this channel. Likewise, they allow up to 3 tags to guide you along with the free version to enhance your video SEO.

Tags on the channel help your video SEO and help you reach more people organically.

I did compare this tool with another called “Morning Fame.” Morning Fame sends out emails as well with stats for your channel. However, their plan requires an invite code to join but I did not find it as intuitive as TubeBuddy to work.

How to Use This Tool for YouTube

So, you are wondering how do I use this tool right?

You can start by getting the FREE version here and downloading the Chrome Extension. You can use it FREE but once you do you may want to upgrade to the first pro version of $4.99/mo. or up to the legend account for $49/mo.

With the FREE version, you will get to see the top 3 tags for each of your YouTube videos. What I really loved too was the reminders if you had the following things for each video:

  • Thumbnail – Great thumbnail image to showcase what your video is about. Be sure it’s labeled for Video SEO as well.
  • Playlist – Putting together videos of the same topic in a playlist as you expand your channel.
  • End Screen – End screens take users to other places you want them to go.
  • Cards – Cards can be put anywhere throughout the video to showcase other videos of yours.
  • Tags – Be found on YouTube with tags – they help the “video SEO” of your channel.

These are great reminders for new YouTubers or old YouTubers that have not been exposed to all the changes on this video-sharing platform.

I’ve gone back and updated many of my old videos with these changes. You cannot replace an old video on YouTube though. But with the YouTube studio, you can do some editing of the videos.

Is TubeBuddy Worth It?

As you can see below, my YouTube channel is small and has grown more this past month with TubeBuddy.

Hence, when you see your account grow you will be inspired to do more videos and begin to see an upward trend. Actually, this is my first blog post about YouTube on Inspire To Thrive!

Recently, this notice came in an email from Google:

TubeBuddy results

What’s better than that?

My video quality is still not the best.

However, it is something I’ll be working on throughout this year testing different lighting and tools to improve them.

Ms. Ileane Smith has an awesome store on Amazon for all the tools you need to do video and live streaming. I’ve bought a microphone and shopped for more there myself.

How YouTube Videos Can Get More Views with TubeBuddy

Now, you can see a couple of my videos that really took off with the use of TubeBuddy. I’ve had a few over thousands of views and my channel has over 200 subscribers now. Of course, you can go back and edit with the TubeBuddy tool to make your less-performing videos rank better.

Knowing which keywords to use and checking my SEO score with TubeBuddy has really helped!

What Else Can YOU Do With This Fabulous Tool?

You will be able to make templates for your cards so you don’t have to do them over and over. This will be a time-saver for you!

Every time you do a new upload it will be already done for you.

Next, you will have the ability to create embed codes with the full list of options for adding videos or playlists to your website.

YouTube only allows for a few basic options to do that.

As your YouTube account grows, your comments will grow. This tool will help you with comments.

It will be able to filter them and even start to respond to them with the set up of a number of canned responses. (Though I’m not a big fan of that yet!)

My favorite is to publish your YouTube videos natively to Facebook with just a couple of clicks! I haven’t done this yet but it’s on my to-do list for sure!

Next, you can create professional-quality thumbnails using still frames from your video and text/image overlays.

I’ve been using Tubebuddy and I love the flexibility with Canva to do this as well.

Since I’m showing how to use TubeBuddy I just created a cover on an old video.

This was my first YouTube video as I began my full-time journey on Inspire To Thrive.

Tubebuddy Review: Leverage The Keyword Explorer Tool To Get Higher Rankings On Youtube & Google

The Keyword Explorer tool is perhaps the most useful part of TubeBuddy for determining what’s popular on YouTube.

You may be looking to obtain your first 1,000 YouTube subscribers with high-quality material.

If you want to produce trend-hitting content tags, try entering a keyword into the Explorer search bar; it will also offer popular terms as you type them in (for example, ‘TubeBuddy review’ or ‘TubeBuddy for youtube’).

This keyword explorer tool will also present you a list of analytics for your keyword research will appear after you’ve entered your term and you can measure all details regarding whether that keyword is easy and worth targeting or not.

Tubebuddy Review: What’s With The Audience Comment Management System?

TubeBuddy enhances the current YouTube comments feature by allowing you to sort comments into more categories, including:

  • Comments you haven’t responded to
  • And comments from new subscribers
  • Comments from your Patreons
  • Also comments that need a follow-up

You can accomplish so much more once you have your own list of subscribers, from organizing interactions with them to prioritizing and engaging with the individuals in your audience that you need to.

When responding to messages, you may even create canned replies.

Tubebuddy Review: Save Time With Bulk Video Uploads

The simplest way to edit your videos is using the built-in editing features of VideoBuddy.

Not only can you upload a video, but you may also do it utilizing templates for tags and titles that save time when publishing.

You may make template cards to quickly upload videos in one go (particularly useful for uploading a series) and attach files to a playlist as soon as they’re uploaded to encourage your subscribers to binge-watch multiple videos and keep them engaged on your channel for long.

You may quickly add your templates to numerous video uploads by simply clicking ‘Add Card Templates.’

The Videos link on the TubeBuddy menu allows you to update your tags and descriptions separately or in bulk for existing videos.

Tubebuddy Review: How Much Do TubeBuddy Licenses Cost?

Pro, Star, and Legend are the three TubeBuddy packages you can get access to.

  • Pro: For $9 a month, you can use most of the productivity and video optimization tools. You are not permitted to schedule content or execute bulk activities for large video uploads.
  • For $19 a month, you may use all of the bulk processing alternatives for video management, including scheduling bulk uploads and setting when content publishes.
  • Legend: The cost of the plan is $49 per month, and it includes all features, such as cross-channel SEO optimization, translation tools, and further competitor research.

If you have a large subscriber base or want to generate money from your channel, the bigger packages are only worthwhile if you go with one of the larger channels.

Non-profits, yearly buyers, and users with less than 1,000 subscribers may save money on specific plans across particular tiers.

    • Hi Bhawani, welcome to Inspire To Thrive. Yes it is very good for those that haven’t been on and even for those of us who have been on. Thanks and have a fabulous day!

    • Hi Rohail, LOL – yes, it can be until you find how useful it is 🙂 I’m loving it still. Thanks for coming by and let me know if you do end up using it 🙂

  • First, thanks for the highlight Lisa. I think you’re also subscribed to my other channel, but I’ll take both of them. 🙂

Second, I’m using TubeBuddy via Ileane to test my titles. It’s been a big help, and I’m seeing slow growth, but it’s better than no growth. If I can keep up at the rate it’s going, maybe one day I’ll have more subscribers than videos. lol

    • Hi Mitch, glad to see you finally tried it! Yes, it will help and slow and steady wins the race, right? I did subscribe. I know how hard it is to get new subscribers on any channel these days! It’s all about engagement everywhere today and of course, having good content. Thanks for taking the time to comment here Mitch. Have a wonderful day and long weekend ahead. Stay well! (Maybe you could do a contributor post here in the future?)

  • Hey Lisa,

I am also using Tubebuddy for my Youtube channel.

It has got a lot of useful stats to display.

The best thing I have noticed in it is showing the tags that your competitor has used in his video and the rankings also.

    • Hi Nirmal, good to hear that. Yes, I’m loving the use of tags there with it. Do you use it for any other social accounts? Thanks for coming by and have a great rest of the weekend.

  • Hey Lisa,

Thanks for the mention. Much appreciated 🙂

I enjoy TubeBuddy. I love the tag tools, stats info, best practices, the comment responses and so much more. The free version has a lot to offer and I really liked that. I went ahead and upgraded to pro this year and I love it even more.

Enjoy using this. I’m sure we’ll be able to teach each other some tips and tricks along the way 🙂

    • Hi Dana, you are most welcome. I love your channel and how you do your videos. I’ll be mentioning you more once I get my shirts up and on 🙂 I’m loving the promotional products you offer. Thanks for coming by on this Dana and enjoy your day down there in the sunshine 🙂

  • HI Lisa

This looks like a great tool to use.

I don’t really use my YouTube channel so effectively because I also upload videos mostly through Vimeo Pro.

But I do put them on YouTube also from time to time.

I’ll certainly look into TubeBuddy to help me grow my YouTube channel.

    Nice review. Thanks 🙂

    -Donna

    • Hi Donna, It really is! Ah, that’s why they are not as wide. I thought it might have been a stream. You are most welcome Donna and have a great day. I hope the weather is sunny up there like it is here in Southern New England 🙂

  • Hi Lisa, thank you so much for mentioning my YouTube channel here. You’ve had great results after your first month, congrats on that!

This is a really nice review of Tube Buddy. For example having these reminders (it seems to be like a check-list) is a big deal when you’re starting out. I can’t tell you how many times I would forget the cards or end screen on my first few videos. Another interesting feature seems to be your top 3 tags of your video that are attracting viewers. Very valuable information for YouTube SEO!

I haven’t been so active on YouTube anymore because I’m growing my Twitter account – there are only so many hours in a day. But once my account is bigger it will also help me share my videos with more people and then I definitely have to post new videos again. Tube Buddy will help me there!

    Cheers, James

    • Hi James, you are most welcome! Yes, thank you – now to keep it up 🙂 That can be the bigger challenge, right? Oh yes, I still forget those things which is why I went with the paid verison of the tool. SO many things to remember after spending time producing a video to boot! I hear you about so many hours in a day, I do work way too many on most days. I try hard to stay more focused and organized though to help. I love using more tools like TubeBuddy and Agorapulse to help me. I may dip into YouTube ads next too 🙂 Thanks for coming by and taking the time to comemnt on this one James. Have a great day!
