  1. Hi Lisa,

Can’t say as a hobby of theirs but I noticed many millennials (college students or graduates) share their personal journey or society issues through writing. Obviously, blogging is not their profession; they don’t intend to monetize this creativity, but still they write; they blog. And I enjoy their writing. There’s no desire to rank in Google, to get more page views, No, nothing: they want to express their feelings; their thought process. And whenever they get time to do so, they do it.

    1. Hi Shyam, welcome to Inspire To Thrive. Very interesting to hear this – I would have thought they use social media more for that. However, I think it’s a great way to get feelings out, by writing about things. A great outlet for sure! Thanks for the input and have a great day Shyam!

  2. Blogging is a great hobby to consider and you can also consider it as a profession if youโ€™re getting decent results.

I started my blogging journey in 2005 and quit my full-time a couple of years ago as I was making a full-time living from blogging.

Blogging gives you freedom, helps you connect with other influencers in your niche, generates traffic and profits to your business, and the list goes on.

That being said, if someone is really expressive, they might even want to consider YouTube as another option. Great post as always Lisa!

    1. Hi Anil, Nice to see you here, glad you are doing well! I didn’t realize you had been at it since 2005! I love the freedom blogging can give you once you get it going Anil. It took me many years to get there but once it did I never looked back. Thanks for coming by on this one and have a great day!

  3. Hi Lisa!

I think that blogging makes an excellent hobby for many of the reasons that you’ve listed here.

One of my goals is to become financially independent, and for a long time I wanted to retire early. Of course, the lack of any work at all will surely cause me to get bored.

I’ve seen a number of retirees starting small blogging businesses to help keep them busy, and have something exciting to focus on. I thought that was really smart! I like to think that even if I eventually ‘retire’ one day, I’ll still have some sort of blogging presence simply because I enjoy it so much.

    – James McAllister

    1. Hi James, That makes sense as I want to continue to blog when I retire. It will give me something to do and look forward to as well. I think that is what keeps many bloggers going is that they LOVE it, those that do not, quit! Thanks for coming by James and have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Hey

  5. Hi Lisa,

I dig all of these ideas because each plants a possible seed for blogging as a hobby.

Sometimes, simply entertaining an idea makes a light bulb go off. One minute, you never pondered blogging. But after reading your post, someone may realize how they love writing and see blogging as a fun hobby for self-expression.

This post also hits the mark because blogging needs that hobby-energy of detachment, relaxation and a pure joy for the action to build this into a full time venture. Perfect intent to build blogs on a solid foundation.

    Ryan

    1. Hi Ryan, Ah yes, we know how seeds can sometimes grow Ryan! I began blogging like that and never thought of making any money from it. Little did I know how much work was involved or how much I’d enjoy it too ๐Ÿ™‚ But it’s okay for folks to blog as a hobby too, not everyone wants to do all the work and try to make money. It can be stressful for some. You have to have a thick backbone ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks Ryan and have a great rest of your day there!
