Encourage People to Join Your Email List

Ask your customers to sign up for your email newsletter. After a few days, you can send out a sale or promotion. This is great because the more emails you have stored, the easier it will be to reach new customers!

As an added bonus, ask people if they would like to share their contact details on your website as well. This way, when they refer their friends to your company, you can get even more customers.

It’s not that hard to create an email list. In fact, many people will sign up for newsletters and promotions without much coaxing. You could try ads or mention them in your blog for added appeal.

Start a Blog to Attract New Customers

Most blogs are free to set up. Get yourself a blog domain after picking your blog name. Then, edit your main page with some relevant information about your business or industry. There’s no need to be fancy – if you have something interesting to say, that’s enough!

Most people that visit your blog will be interested in what you have to say. That means they’re potential customers.

If someone is about to buy from you, they can always leave their phone number or email address for you to contact them later.

Create an App

With some spare time and some basic coding experience, you can create an app for your business. In fact, these days you don’t even really need coding experience.

Encourage Reviews to Attract New Customers – How Does Amazon Attract New Customers?

Reviews are gold to e-commerce companies. It’s estimated that Amazon makes around 40% of its sales from repeat customers based on positive reviews alone. That is how Amazon attracts new customers!

Encourage people to leave a review by offering them a reward or discount code for your store. Then, other customers will see these reviews and buy your product or service.

Ask for Referrals

When a customer is happy with your product, ask them to refer you to their friends and family. You can make this easier by giving them free things like a discount code or gift certificate.

Use it as a reward for referring someone. This is a great way to attract new customers through your existing customer base.

And of course, be sure to promote the referral online as well like this example below:

Conduct a Survey or Poll on Social Media

You can write a funny or interesting survey or poll on your Facebook page or other social channel and watch as it spreads like wildfire. You’ll also reach new people who haven’t been following you yet.

Plus, they’ll enjoy your page more because they see fresh content regularly instead of the same old stuff. This survey or poll is a great way to get potential customers to engage with you.

You can then contact them via email, Facebook messenger, or even phone call if they entered that information.

How Do You Attract New Customers?

Did you know that acquiring a new customer can cost five times more than retaining an existing customer?  The success rate of selling to a customer you already have is 60-70%, while the success rate of selling to a new customer is 5-20%.

So don’t get discouraged if it takes a while to attract a new customer.

What other ways do you use to attract new customers? I’d love to know more in the comment section below.

  1. Lisa: As a certified networker (by the Referral Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden), your tip on “Ask for referrals,” is music for my ears. I would like to talk with you how I could attract new international customers. I have a suggestion for a future event.

    All the Best,

    Martin

    1. Hi Martin, Ah, yes, referrals are the best Martin, Let me think of some ideas for you and be in touch soon! Thanks for coming by and make it a great new month there!

  2. Do you thing blogs or YouTube channels work better today? I’m more used to traditional blogging, on platforms like WordPress, but videos seem to grow in popularity constantly.
Thanks for polls idea, haven’t tried it yet, but hope it helps with more interactivity on Facebook

    1. Hi Victoria, welcome to Inspire To Thrive. It depends on what your objective is. But your blog is your home. You could be booted off of YouTube at any time. So I always recommend you have your home base blog first. You are most welcome and have a great day!

  3. Blogs may be the ultimate customer driver, Lisa. I find it amazing how publishing helpful blog content drives business through Google, Twitter, Facebook and genuine blog comments. Never mind how guest blogging draws customers, too. All smart ways to grow business here. Helpful post!

    1. Hi Ryan, Thank you. Yes, I believe the blog is the strongest as it’s a business’s home base. No relying on any network that may ban or accidentally delete you. You can also set your own tone on your blog for your business. Guest blogging is a great way to reach out as well Ryan. You’ve done more than your share of those! Have a great weekend!
