And we are already seeing signs of this happening. Intelligent robots can already do most manual, unskilled work, and websites nowadays have AI chatbots where there were once real-life, flesh-and-blood customer service representatives.
Although the rise of machines might seem like something out of a science fiction movie, modern change will be faster and more furious today. Thus, AI will generally be designed to benefit as many people as possible.
Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly set to reshape the landscape of business, medical technology, society, and much more, but I believe there will always be a need for human input and change.

This week, London neurosurgeons used live AI guidance for the first time to help remove an 11mm pituitary tumor and save a patient’s sight. The AI watched the operating-room video in real time and color-coded nerves and blood vessels so surgeons could stay a millimeter away from disaster.
The patient walked out with clearer vision. The surgeon stayed in charge. That’s the pattern I keep seeing: AI as a second set of trained eyes, not a replacement.
👉 This is why I still say humans are needed. Now surgeons are using AI. The job changed; it didn’t vanish.
Will AI Replace Your Job?
There’s no getting around the fact that some jobs can be done much more cheaply and effectively by computers. Computers don’t need benefits or vacations. It is estimated that over a billion jobs will be lost globally in the next decade.
This will include jobs in manufacturing, content marketing, customer service, insurance underwriting, and data entry. Although this may seem disastrous for many hard-working people, it is hardly different from any other paradigm shift in history.
The Industrial Revolution disrupted farming, Uber disrupted taxis, and streaming services disrupted the media industry. So many farmers, taxi drivers, and record shop owners have been put out of business by technological advances. Hence, the rise of artificial intelligence is simply the next in a long line of historical disruptions.

Even though many jobs may be replaced, this doesn’t mean humans will become defunct. Firstly, there are several professions that it seems unlikely could ever be replaced by technology; the arts and creative industries, for one.
Computers are a long way off from being able to comprehend emotions and personal experiences. Emotional input is required to create a classic work of literature, an Oscar-winning film, a beautiful painting, or a romantic love song.
There have been examples of AI programs analyzing thousands of works of art and creating their own dubious masterpieces. This technology is far from an adequate replacement for the human mind.
The technology used for artificial intelligence is constantly evolving and becoming more complex. And the number of people needed to grow this technology is increasing as AI tools rise.
AI needs to be created, monitored, trained, maintained, and adapted to different industries and ways of working. However, these types of jobs can’t be done without people’s input.

- Pick one skill you already have (writing, bookkeeping, customer support, video, web, admin) and learn how AI can sit beside it, not instead of it.
- Build a small portfolio of before-and-after examples so clients can see your judgment, not just a generated draft.
- Put that work on a website you own. Platforms come and go. A site you control is still the best home base for freelance work or a side business.

Hi Lisa, there’s no stopping progress and AI is definitely the wave of the future. While it does offer many conveniences and shortcuts, it is troubling that so many people will lose their jobs. I’m doing my part by refusing to use automated check-out machines in stores, but it likely won’t help much in the long run. Hopefully, there are enough retraining courses available. We just added an AI chatbot to our website. I don’t know if it technically AI since I programmed all of the questions and all of the answers, but either way its pretty cool for a furniture manufacturer to have a chatbot considering we still make furniture like we did 45 years ago. I think AI will change everything and I am excited to watch.
