Do you know what a Twitter Card Validation can do for your tweets? Seeing tweet posts in the stream with images and videos inspired me to learn more about these multi-media cards years ago. After all, they do generate more buzz on the Twitter feed even today. Learn how to use the Twitter card validator and how to set up your Twitter cards in this updated blog post.
Now, an X Twitter Card allows you to attach media experiences to your tweets that link back to your own content. I love the way they look in the new Twitter X stream. Of course, you must have a public account on Twitter X and not a private Twitter account.
Table of Contents
What Can A Card Do For You?
Twitter cards make your tweets stand out. They help you get beyond the 280-character point with images, videos, etc. By making your tweets more visible in the stream, you can generate more clicks to your website or blog.
Not only that but you may generate more followers which helps your tweets spread out more on that social network.
Furthermore, these Twitter cards can increase engagement on social networks. People can reply to your video and engage with you right there.
And finally, if you are selling products you may be able to sell more products right from your Twitter feed.
Yoast Plugin for Twitter Cards
As I was considering doing away with my beyond the 280-character many years ago and doing research on these media cards I learned that Yoast was easy to integrate with the Twitter Cards. Yoast is here to stay and it made it so easy!
You will love how the images come out when you see the posts in your Twitter stream. Over the years, Twitter expanded to show the 280-character count, you may remember it used to be 140 characters per tweet.
How Can You Get Your Twitter Cards?
First, you must register via Twitter and they must grant you permission. It took several days for mine to come through. You will receive an email from Twitter whether you have been approved or not.
Then you must follow the instructions on how to code for the Twitter cards which can be quite technical. You can see the meta tags you would need to add.
These cards can be set up in these 4 easy steps below!
How To Use The Validator
Ready to get started with Cards? Here are the 4 steps below on how to use the Twitter Card Validator from Twitter:
- Choose a card type to implement.
- Add the correct meta tags to the page.
- Run the URL through the Twitter card validator tool to test.
- After testing in the validator or approval of your Player Card, Tweet the URL and see the Card appear below your Tweet in the details view.
If everything works correctly, the Twitter card preview will show you how your card will appear in your Twitter feed.
Furthermore, you will see the information on the type of card, the number of meta tags, and a message of the card loading successfully. If not you will receive an error message.
Yoast Made Installing The Cards Easy!
Luckily I have the Yoast SEO plugin and it was super easy. Check off one box and add your Twitter username. That’s it!
Otherwise, you must add special coding to your site. That’s why I did not apply immediately. I knew it would not be simple until I read about Yoast’s easy settings for your cards.
If you are not sure about Yoast you can follow the developer Joost de Valk on Twitter. If I can learn how to use Yoast I think you can too.
However, it’s not the easiest plugin to learn. There are many settings within it.
Different Types of Twitter Cards
Summary Cards
The summary card can be used for many kinds of web content, from blog posts and news articles to products and restaurants.
It is designed to give the reader a preview Twitter card of the content before clicking through to your website. There are not many people or businesses today using this format.
Most users seem to prefer using the large image Twitter card to show off their blog posts and web content.

Large Image Summary Cards
The Twitter summary card with a large image features a large, full-width prominent image alongside a tweet.
This type of card is designed to give the reader a rich photo experience, and clicking on the image brings the user right to your website.

Player Card
Video and audio clips have a special place on the Twitter platform thanks to the Player Card. By implementing a few HTML meta tags to your website and following the Twitter Developer Policy, you can deliver your rich media to Twitter users across the globe.
You can listen to the podcast below right on the Twitter stream with the Player card.

App Card
The App Card is a great way to represent mobile applications on Twitter and to drive installs. Twitter designed the App Card to allow for a name, description, and icon, and also to highlight attributes such as the rating and the price.
However, Twitter auto-creates App Cards for Tweets that contain a link to either the App Store or Google Play. This means that you can create an App Card experience just by sharing links directly to the download page for your own application.
This Twitter card type is currently available on the twitter.com website, as well as on iOS and Android mobile clients. It is not available on the mobile web.
Do you need all of the above cards for your account? No, you can pick and choose which ones are best for you and your business.
More Examples For Posts on Twitter X
A local RE/MAX office uses them for YouTube right in the Twitter stream. I love sharing YouTube on Twitter because you can watch them in the stream. Don’t try this with Facebook because it will not work!

In Conclusion: Using Twitter Cards
With beyond the 280 characters going out daily in the Twitter X stream, make sure your tweets are noticeable with the right card today. Don’t forget to add your hashtags to these tweets as well to gain more reach.
Using the right cards can make your tweets more clickable. As the old saying goes: “A picture paints a thousand words.” – Frederick R. Barnard
Have you seen some great uses of these cards? I’d love to hear of some examples that you have come across on the social network.
Now, have you set up a Twitter Card, and/or are you using the validator for your blog or website? I’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

Twitter is my favorite social media network for marketing.
I’ve been using it for years, with good results.
And I love the large image Twitter card feature. Using it for spreading the word about my content.
Thanks for sharing, Lisa!
Hi Erik, It used to be mine. I still use it but it’s changing so fast and doesn’t bring in as many leads, etc. I think they are watering it down with communities, Twitter blue, etc, etc. I do love the large image Twitter card the best. I could not believe they have been around for so long when I updated this post! 9 years! Thanks for coming by Erik and I hope all is well your way. Have a great weekend.
What’s your favorite social media for marketing, right now, Lisa?
I’m experimenting with different ones Erik, so I don’t have a favorite at the moment. I’ll get back to you!
Thank you for such an informative article. I’d heard about Twitter cards, but hadn’t looked into them yet. I will now, though. You don’t mention if it’s something you have to pay for or not. Take care. I’m going to look around on your blog now.
You are welcome Jeanne, They are FREE to install and use. If you use WordPress and have the Yoast plugin, it’s pretty easy to do, otherwise you may need someone to code for you. Let me know how you make out, enjoy the rest of your week!
Lisa, Someone else had mention doing it through the SEO plugin. So easy, even I could do it. Thanks so much!
Yes, I’ve been using YOAST for a while now, I wouldn’t be without it.
I think even if everyone starts to use Twitter cards, although people may not stand out to the degree they do now, they’ll still be able to find ways to get people’s attention because the whole experience is more visual. This is something that I feel has been lacking with Twitter as, for a long time, everything has just basically been a mass of text. But even if that changes to a mass of ‘cards’ it will still be easier for people to quickly see something that catches their eye. After all, the brain thinks in pictures rather than words, so to have this facility on Twitter could be a huge leap forward for its users.
Me too Glenn. Twitter could look more like Pinterest huh? You are right, visuals are huge no matter which network they are on now. Thanks for answering the question and have a wonderful day ahead Glenn.
Hi Lisa,
I just came across this post via a mention from Barry Wells. I’d never heard of Twitter cards until seeing his mention so I just had to come over here and see what they are all about. After your excellent overview I’ll definitely be looking into them as they look like a fantastic tool. I’m really surprised that I haven’t seen anyone using them!
I suppose, like anything, once everyone’s using them then it could be hard to be seen among the noise, but for the moment it would seem that it’s an ideal time to get involved and get your tweets noticed. Thanks for the heads up!
Kind regards,
Glenn
Hi Glenn, you are welcome. I really love this Twitter feature and it looks so nice in the Twitter feed to have a graphic with each post. Do you have the Yoast plugin? It does make it so easy. I wonder how it will be when more start using them, good point. But I love the look. Welcome to Inspire to Thrive and have a wonderful day!
such a nice tips i never knew this surely gonna try this soon thnx for great post..
Hi Matinder, yes, it really can highlight your tweets. Good luck with it and you are welcome. Have a great week ahead.
Lisa,
I love the Twitter cards. I am going to apply to Twitter to get them.
I think the idea of having an image on Twitter is great. I am always more apt to click on something with an image then I am on something without one.
Thanks for the great info on what Twitter cards are, where to get them and how to use them.
Dee Ann Rice
You are welcome Dee Ann. I really do like them a lot. Let me know how you make out. I’ve had a few readers not get an answer from Twitter but others did pretty quickly. Mine took at least a week before I received an email with approval. Thanks for coming by Dee Ann and have a great week ahead!

Great article!!
Am definitely keen on having Twitter cards. Started by applying, then selected a card, have Yoast so, like you I checked the box. Have however not heard from Twitter since. Did I make a mistake? What did you do after checking the Yoast box and save it?
Hi Catarina, there have been several of you with this issue. Everything I’ve read said you had to wait for an answer from Twitter. How long has it been? I’m going to see how to inquire to them on this matter. Thanks for letting me know that you have not received an answer.
Thanks for your swift reply Lisa.
Sorry but there are far too many comments to read them all. Annoys me as well, when the same question is asked over and over again. But it always happens when there are a lot of comments.
Did it two weeks ago. But since I still had not received an answer I did it again today.
No problem Catarina, you just inspired me to dig even deeper on this matter. It’s been bugging me.
No, it just couldn’t “see” my information, which is why I don’t think signing up with yoast worked for me. I’m not surprised. Seriously, these things are never easy.
Hi Heather, it can take up to 2 weeks to get approval via Twitter. I was just reading me here . You are right, sometimes these things are NOT easy. And always takes longer than we think.
Thanks for the informative article! Like everyone else I wondered how people did those little pop up cards. Even though I’m very active on twitter it’s not one of my top referers and I’d love to change that. Twitter cards sound like they could really help, unfortunately even though I have yoast (love it) and I filled out the twitter stuff and applied via the the twitter link you provided the cards aren’t working. I’ve found after two years of blogging that nothing is EVER easy.
Thanks Heather, I know, everything takes longer too. I had that happen to one other reader and I will try to get to the bottom of it and let you know. I had to wait until I got an email from Twitter with approval. Did you go through that as well? I’m curious if it’s the themes too. Thanks for coming by and I hope we can figure it out for you.
Hello Lisa,
Since I am on Blogger, I had tried to implement this using some codes, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out. I searched Google for the problem, and it seems that many are having that problem when implementing it with codes.
But one thing I did notice is that these cards are not visible by default, neither on Hootsuite nor on Twitter’s desktop site. Or do I need to change some settings??? Because at the moment, if a Tweet contains a summary or an image, I still have to click on “view summary” to see the summary.
Hi Sourav, I can point you here from Mayura, (he’s a tech wizard) http://wordpress.org/plugins/jm-twitter-cards, http://wordpress.org/plugins/twitter-cards-meta and . I hope they help. You are correct I see them on the Twitter stream itself if you hit “View summary” and via mobile same way. I do not believe you see it in the other Twitter sites. Thanks for coming by and good luck with it. Love to know if anything else will work for you as suggested by my friend Mayura. Have a great week ahead.
Hi Lisa
Great post I love it. I have heard of these but I didn’t bother looking into it. The reason I just blew it off, was twitter has tried things like this before and for some reason people on twitter don’t seem to care. I noticed that pictures and videos are some of my lowest lowest numbers.
I have tested this over the years and it always shows me that on twitter people prefer text. I think we have so many other sites where pictures are the main focus like Google+ and FB that it’s nice not to have to worry about that on Twitter.
With that said have you noticed any difference in your responses or RT’s since you started using it? Good for twitter for not giving up and maybe this will be different. It looks different in that it has a formatted text as well.
This could be cool I guess we’ll find out. Either way you did a excellent job in showcasing it. You got my attention and that’s not easy when it comes to pictures on twitter.
Thanks Dawn, appreciate that. Yes, I have had a few more RT’s since using it but not everyone can see it, like those that may use Tweetdeck, or Hootsuite. On mobile you have to open the post up to see it. So those on desktops see it the most. It’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve used it. I will take note more and probably do a follow up post. Thanks for coming by and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Enjoy your weekend Dawn.
Excellent article, thank you. You did a really nice job of walking through how to generate these new very cool sounding lead generation cards in Twitter as well as the things to keep in mind. Outstanding. Thanks for shearing.
Glad you linked it Saavni. They are nice to see in the Twitter stream. Will you be applying for them too Saavni?
This is wonderful post to know about Twitter Cards. I was not to much aware about it but now I am little happy to know this just because of you Lisa.
Thanks Disha, glad you liked it. Will you be applying for them too? They are a great way to show off your posts in the Twitter stream. Thanks for coming by and commenting.
Hi Lisa,
I have a twitter account & I don’t more use twitter but this something new to learn about twitter. so Thanks Lisa for sharing & something new about twitter.
You are welcome Vivek and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. I love Twitter, you should really try to use it more. It’s a great way to connect with others.
Yeah I understand & now I am going to use twitter
Hi Lisa,
Well, this is better than ice cream! I’ve been seeing this on Twitter, but could not figure out what it was all about. Here, you have given me the answer and I thank you.
I think this is a great way to get out a message. I have book marked this so I can get to it later and apply it.
Donna
Hi Donna, thanks, I too had wondered for a bit. I love the way they look via Twitter stream. Thanks for coming by and I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. Have a great week ahead.
this is great info i never knew this gonna try this.
Thanks Prince. I hope it works out well for you and let me know if you have questions. Enjoy the rest of your weekend there.
Lisa,
This is great information! Unfortunately, I don’t use Yoast’s plugin because I’ve read that it does not work well with the version of Thesis that I use. I’ll have to code it myself. Thanks so much for giving me something else to add to my “to-do” list!
Hi Sherryl, Thanks. I had some isues with Yoast with my theme but after making some changes it’s almost perfect. Still working on getting my Google Analytics set up right with it. I hope your to do list is not too long there Sherryl. Thanks for coming by and taking the time to comment. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Hi Lisa,
Very enlightening post and those Twitter Cards sure look like a lot of fun. But, I am with Sue and Adrienne on this one. Because I don’t use Yoast and I’m lousy at coding, I’ll keep away from it for now until it’s easier to implement.
Thanks so much for sharing this though and I will keep this post bookmarked in case I change my mind later.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
Ilka
Thanks Ilka for coming by. I may have a follow-up on this one for that and those that don’t have Yoast. Stay tuned. Enjoy the rest of your weekend too there.
Oh that would be wonderful, Lisa. Looking forward to it. Have a great week!
Ilka
Hi Lisa,
This is interesting to know but I have to install the Yoast plugin to use it. So I will go through the steps you provided and register for the permission via Twitter. And thanks for providing the meta tag for us as well. Very helpful. You really made it easy for us.
Thanks Lisa for sharing a great feature. Have a great weekend.
Be Blessed,
Neamat
Hi Neamat, I’m glad you like it and let me know if you have any trouble with the Yoast. I found a great site that I can recommend to you with step by step instructions. I’m always double checking my own settings from time to time as things change. Have a wonderful long and blessed weekend Neamat. Appreciate you taking the time to comment too.
Hi Lisa,
All I can say is wow, this is really neat. I had no idea that these existed but, now I want one! Fortunately, I’m already using Yoast, so it doesn’t get any easier than that. I usually include a photo with my posts and I’m very active on twitter so, this will definitely come in handy.
Thank you for the share, now I’m off to apply for mine – hopefully that won’t take too long during memorial day weekend!
Hi Hermine, yes it should be easy to incorporate into your Yoast plugin. I hope you get approved fast. Let me know how you may out. Enjoy the long weekend ahead and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Thanks for coming by and commenting here.
Thanks Lisa!
I love this. Twitter cards are awesome. (Y)
Thanks Fahad, I really love the way they are looking and inspires me to get even better images for each post. Welcome to Inspire to Thrive and good luck with your new blog. Nice and clean look btw.
Thank you so much Lisa!
I loved your blog, will be here and will read it regularly.
Nice detailed explanation on Twitter Cards Lisa. It’s something I’ve been meaning to look into because it seems like a nice tool. I didn’t realise it was something that had to be applied for, I thought it was just a trick I didn’t understand. I think I’ll try get approved.
Thanks Brian, I was so happy to learn Yoast made it easy for me here. I almost got rid of the plugin for it’s complicated features but I’m learning more each day with it and I would recommend it. It may take time to get approved via Twitter. It took me days and others did within hours and some haven’t been approved yet. Let me know how you make out with it. Have a great weekend. Hope it’s a long one for you there.
I don’t see were you request access for the twitter cards, I went to the link you posted
thanks,jb
Jason, it’s the Cards Validator – over to the right hand side. Or better yet use this link for getting Twitter Card approval which I will change in the post. Thanks Jason!
It is a new thing for me….. Looks interesting…….Thanks for the share Lisa…….
You are welcome Debopam. Welcome to Inspire to Thrive. I hope you have a nice weekend ahead.
Thank you Lisa, have a great weekend………….
Hi Lisa,
Interesting post. I don’t use Yoast. For my SEO I rely on AIOSEO. However, this is interesting. I wonder … is it possible to have both Yoast and AIOSEO on the same blog? If yes, I will immediately install Yoast and try the cards. If no, I’ll check to see how complicate the codes are.
Btw, I read your book “Tweeting like its second nature”. I would like to write a review for it but I don’t know where: Smashwords? Amazon?
Thanks for the post.
Silviu – I would recommend disabling the other plugin as you install Yoast and then you can also re-activite it. I’d love a review here: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/tweeting-like-its-second-nature-lisa-buben/1114769833?ean=2940044332256 Thanks so much and I hope it was helpful to you Silviu. Let me know how you make out with Yoast.
Obviously I haven’t seen them because I use TweetDeck but I did use the mobile app this past weekend but didn’t notice any of these cards.
This is interesting to know but sounds like a lot of trouble to go through to set them up if we aren’t using Yoast which I’m not. So for now I guess I’ll just keep trucking along but I’m sure as things are added for viewing with other programs then maybe I’ll implement them then.
Thanks again Lisa for keeping us up to date.
~Adrienne
Hi Adrienne, do you use TweetDeck via mobile too? I can see the cards via the Twitter app itself. There are not a lot of them being used yet. I bet you could handle that coding Adrienne – You are more of a techie than you realize. Thanks for coming by and enjoy your day ahead and the long weekend. I can’t wait – I have Friday off too.
I haven’t gotten Twitter cards to work for me. I use the Yoast SEO plugin, but don’t know if there is more that I have to do to get them to show.
Hi Susan,
Did you fill out the questionnaire ? I had to wait days for email back from Twitter before mine went through. Let me know.
Well hello Lisa, typical just after switching back to ‘all in one SEO’ plugin for the reason you pointed out, Yoast does have a steep learning curve, looks like it could be time to switch back….sigh…. however as you point out adding graphics to our tweets is a great step forward.
Hi Igor, yes, many people do find it a little complicated. But they have post of how to set it up step by step. If I can – anyone can. Thanks for coming by and for your input. Let me know if you end up using it too.
This is great info I have always wondered how people did the cards I am going to sign up right now and keeping this post handy because as you know I am technically challenged lol
Hi Kita, I know what you mean. I felt that way when I first read through it. Take it one step at a time. Thanks for coming by Kita and enjoy your day ahead there.
Mmm…. Not sure whether to pursue this at the moment, Lisa. I don’t have Yoast (looked into it once but found the settings too complicated, so I’ve stuck with AIOSEO for now) and it’ll be no surprise to you to know I can’t code! I’ve seen Mayura’s message on FB with links to some other plugins, but I’ve already got too many plugins on my blog, so I’m reluctant to add more.
Thanks for sharing all this info, though – and especially for being up-front about the technical side of it.
One for me to add on my possible future ‘do’ list.
Sue
Hi Sue, I felt like that when I first read about Twitter Cards too. Yes Mayura is the king of code and I’m sure he would help you with it. I don’t like to add more plug-ins myself. I’m holding at 17 at the moment. Do keep it in mind for the future Sue. Have a wonderful Wednesday ahead. Thanks for coming by and your input on this one.
Cheers, Lisa.
I know Mayura would help me out – and I certainly will bear it in mind for the future.
Here’s wishing you a great Wednesday, too.
Sue
Great post, Lisa. I think the that Twitter cards are a great feature. They do add the something extra needed to make your tweets stand out from the rest. I’ve yet to actually try Twitter cards myself, but I have seen them in my feed and they certainly do jump out at me. Thanks for sharing your insights with us.
I’m glad to have found your post on BizSugar.com. I hope to see more of your content there soon.
Ti
Thanks Ti and welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Interesting where you found me. I’ve been trying to get over there more and on BlogEngage. So many places to be and only 24 hours every day. Thanks for coming by and commenting. Have a wonderful day.
Thanks Lisa, I should be a little more patient ha ha
barry
Hi Lisa,
What a fantatsic post.
I’ve been over and activated Yoast, simply to check a box is awesome and so simple,
I’ve been over to Twitter to verify my site and apply but am being told that I have an invalid card type. Bearing in mind that Tim said to keep trying as his was slow, I’m doing just that but after 5 attempts I’m not getting anywhere fast.
I’ve tried with the www. and without but still getting the same message. Is that normal Lisa?
Thanks again for sharing this great info Lisa
Barry
What type of card did you apply for Barry?
Just a summary one Lisa
Barry, I wonder if you missed the step for email? I had to wait for email approval first. Your blog doesn’t need the www just like mine.
I must have done Lisa as I can’t see anything asking for my email address. Just the Validate and apply, which is what I’ve been trying. I’ve linked my Twitter account to it so does the email come automatically?
Yes, mine took a few days but Tim did his on the weekend and got it within minutes.
Twitter cards are everywhere these days, and I wasnt sure how to get them myself. This article helped me find what I needed, thanks Lisa, I shall apply right away and I hope I do get approved as quick as Tim got his.
I do not use Yoast, but let us see if I can add those tags and code a bit to get things going. Thanks once again.
You are welcome Praveen. Let me know how you make out.
I haven’t seen a lot of them yet and was surprised as I was looking for examples in the post. Hope the rest of your week goes well there Praveen.
Hi Lisa
Thank for excellent post and share it. It is very important and helpful post for us.
You are welcome Vishaka and welcome to Inspire To Thrive. Have a great day.
Hey Lisa,
Twitter cards are awesome indeed. First time, I’ve noticed Twitter card on TechCrunch tweets few months ago. I just love that previews and they have different kind of cards to be implemented. It’s really cool that Yoast added that feature in their plugin and made it easy. I didn’t notice that though.
However most recently a reader come and asked me about setting up Twitter cards for Blogger too. I’ve been through their markup and tested out meta tags too. Yet it’s not easier like Facebook Open Graph tags if you think about using markup though. WordPress is flexible on such cases. Seems Twitter changed the approach it used to follow. Been trying a way out for Blogger but got out of hands. Yet trying lol…
You have a successful week over there Lisa.
Cheers…
Hi Mayura, I can see you doing a follow up for Blogger once you figure it out and you will. I have faith in you with that one. I love how they look and can’t wait to try other images and maybe video too. I hope your week will be well over there and thanks for coming by and for your input Mayura.
I am not using Yoast. I am ok with All in one SEO but I think start using this. I love the cards. Images in tweets. Great! Share!
Thanks Atish, I really love the look myself. I found the smaller images I have seem to come out better via the cards. I’ll be playing more with images in the future posts I do as well. Appreciate your comment and coming by today. Have a great week Atish.
Thanks, Lisa, these Twitter cards look great. I will apply soon. I already use Yoast’s SEO – I find it a useful plugin. I think of it as reminders of where to concentrate on SEO.
Hi Leora, yes, I almost ditched it but found the issue with my DiggDigg buttons instead and am keeping Yoast now with this wonderful additional of Twitter Cards. Thanks for coming by and commenting today.
Lisa,
Thanks for this information. Tweets are always more interesting when there is a graphic or video embedded. I’ve got to try this for myself.
Cheers,
Marc
Hi Lisa, I have seen the Twitter Cards, thanks so much for this handy explanation on how to get them myself. I’m not much of a coder and don’t have Yoast. Is there any hope for me being able to add Twitter cards to my tweets? I’m going to apply now, thanks so much for the link!
There is always hope Carolyn. Try to walk through and see. They do give a pretty good explanation of it on the Twitter developer website. Good luck and let us know.
Aha. Just in time. Before this, I use the built in seo feature from Genesis, but then I switched to Yoast. I’ve heard about this feature from Yoast, but really have no idea how to enable it. Thanks!
You are welcome Rudd. So glad I found out before ditching the plug-in. It’s here to stay!
Lisa, you never cease to amaze and educate. I’ve just applied for Twitter Cards. Since I use Yoast SEO, also thanks to you, I checked the appropriate button and saved the settings, then filled out the application on the link you supplied above.
Brilliant, I tell you. Brilliant!
Hi Ellen, I’m glad you are using Yoast too. It will be so easy to do. I hope it doesn’t take long to get an answer like Tim mentioned. Mine took a few days but his just a few minutes. Let me know if you have any questions Ellen. Appreciate your comment and coming by today.
Awesome Lisa! Now I know what you meant about Twitter Cards and thought that’s what I was using with my tweets. Shame the cards don’t show up in Hootsuite or Tweetdeck. Guess we can’t have it all, right? Might have to start using web twitter more to see the “cards”
Hi Bren, I noticed Tumblr uses them. Yes, they may not show everywhere but I can see them via Mobile Twitter app. I have to check Tweetcaster too – Nope not there either. I wonder if they will update those apps for Twitter Cards in the future. Interesting point Bren, thanks for coming by and commenting on this one.
Wow, this is an awesome feature! Thanks for telling us about this Lisa.
Thank goodness I have Yoast otherwise I probably would have passed on this because I got a little cringe when you said it can get technical and you know me and codes.
I love the way it makes the tweets just pop! I’ll definitely be working on this today!
Have a great week Lisa!
Yes, I love it Corina. It is really easy via Yoast too. Let me know if you have any questions, Tim got his answer right away from Twitter. I wonder how long it will take for you. Thanks for coming by today Corina and enjoy the rest of your evening there.
Love this Lisa!
I just applied now, having added the meta data to my blog, using Yoast of course!
I got an email in about 10 seconds to say that my card has been activated. Wow, that was super quick. I went for the summary card as well. That’s also the one that the Yoast plugin embeds into your header I noticed. I assume you’d need to add the meta tags to your header yourself if you wanted to use a different card.
If anyone is struggling to get their link validated by Twitter. Definitely persevere. I tried about 4 times because it said that my site was taking longer than 3 seconds to respond.
Brilliant share Lisa. Thank you. I can’t believe how quickly Twitter approved my request!
You are welcome Tim. Wow, that was super fast! Glad to hear it worked well for you too. Enjoy the rest of your week Tim.
Great post Lisa, I have Yoast also so will check it out!
Good luck Ian, I’m sure you will love it. Thanks for coming by and have a great day!
Hi Lisa,
Informative post indeed.
I’m so glad you came up with this topic because like you, I’ve always wondered how people manage to get those images in their tweets. I’ve seen Amit’s and they do look awesome – I guess they add much more to the 140 plain characters, though a lot depends if the person at the other end would like them as much.
Ah…I’d run away where I’ve do any kind of coding, and would any day prefer to use Yoast as I’ve that installed. But let me clarify, that just ticking the one option takes care of things, or do we need to do something else to get those images with our tweets – this sounds interesting
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead.
Hi Harleena, that should do it, Click that option and add your Twitter username. I also found some folks on Google+ to help me with Yoast in the past when I’ve posted questions. I hope it works well for you. You also must apply for the cards as I mentioned in the post. Do that first. It does take a few days to get a response from Twitter. You have to pick your style of card and give them info, your blog URL, and your Twitter username, etc. Good luck! Have a great week too and thanks for your comment.
