    Things have certainly changed over the past few years. It’s getting harder and harder to make your presence felt online. It’s taking longer, it’s much more work, and it’s a lot more agony to bear (especially in the beginning — and no one seems to know what the beginning or the end is).

    To earn trust, you need customers. What if you don’t have a single paying customer for a relatively new product (but a much older site)? What does it take to get to sell? What’s involved? What am I missing?

    I don’t know what it is but I am still struggling to get simple things like reviews in exchange for a free product, for instance.

When you don’t have the customers to show case studies, etc., it’s really challenging to gain your target audience members’ trust and build your brand. Selling training and other professional services can be even more challenging. Have you tried asking your current clients for referrals? And do you do free consultations?

  • Be genuine; I dig the transparency note Anthony. None of us have the biggest or best or cheapest anything because no realistic measurement or dispassionate judge for each exists. Be straight. Remove hype from ad copy. Customers dig real, down-home, genuine entrepreneurs who help without the hype.


    • You’re 100% right, Ryan. No business has it all. Hyped up ad copy is easy to see through. Some people will buy it, but overall, you’re much better off being genuine and open with your target audience. You can build much stronger, lasting relationships that way.
