If you don’t have a solid understanding of your niche, then you need to take some time out and do your research. You don’t want to get stuck into your business without knowing every in and out you could be facing along the way.

3. Get Your Finances in Order
If you’re going to achieve big things with your business you’re going to need a strong grasp of your own finances. You can’t always rely on other people to help you with such important things. It simply won’t go your way if you do.
Keep track of everything you’re spending and investing in so that you never fall under when it comes to money. By all means, invest in an accountant, but you need to be responsible for your own finances.

When you have a brilliant idea spring into your mind, try not to broadcast it to the world right away. Even though you might be excited about a potential project, it’s best to keep everything hush-hush until it’s officially off the ground.
Others might be inclined to steal elements of your idea or it might not work out for you. Keeping your ideas quiet will save potential embarrassment in the long run.
5. Get Your Branding On Point
You need to know exactly what your brand is all about. You will need to portray your business effectively to your target audience. Unfortunately, some business owners dive headfirst into their launch without considering every aspect of their brand first.
As soon as you have a clear idea of your unique selling point and brand ethos you will be able to progress much further with your business venture.

In the modern day, you can’t own a business without a good knowledge of the social media world and everything it encompasses. Even if you’re aiming to go against the grain and use other methods, you still need some sort of presence online.
Your audience will automatically trust you more if you are engaging with them regularly through social media platforms. You don’t have to use all of them, just choose one or two that are appropriate for your individual venture. Of course, you could hire a professional to manage your social media for you as it takes up a lot of time to manage.

If you are impatient and you try to rush the process of business success, you aren’t going to get very far, unfortunately. So many budding entrepreneurs fail at the last hurdle because they just want to make a quick buck.
You need to be in this for the long haul, otherwise, you are going to suffer the consequences. By all means, be passionate and motivated. However, don’t allow yourself to lose sight of what is truly important to you and your future business.
As long as you are always realistic with yourself, you will always be able to achieve greatness. Having a good understanding of your market, grasping the importance of finances, and being extremely patient will get you far in your business career.
Make sure to take time out for yourself so you don’t burn out before your first full year in business. I have seen it many times with bloggers and others running online businesses. They get burnt out, quit, and never realize the success that could have been theirs.

Hii Lisa,
Great points Lisa, i especially agree with branding!
If you lead with passion, it doesn’t feel like work! It is necessary that you should understand your target customers and focus on branding.
Thank you for sharing! Keep sharing.
Hi Matt, welcome to Inspire To Thrive. Yes, passion is a must to stay with what you do for any length of time. Branding is also important for business, people like to know what a brand stands for and what it can do. Thanks for coming by and have a great day Matt.
Hi Lisa,
I love the tip about being secretive about your business, at least in the beginning.
When I was just starting out, people didn’t know why I was spending all my time in front of my computer;
and why I wasn’t out looking for work.
I didn’t tell because I knew they wouldn’t “get” blogging and would try to prevent me from “wasting my time”.
But they’d be wrong and they would’ve wronged me, while honestly trying to help.
So, hush hush and… PRESS ON!
🙂
Hi Nikola, Thank you. Oh yes, my offline friends don’t know what blogging is or exactly what it is that I do – LOL. From time to time I’ll email them a post or something but I don’t think they all get it. Luckily so many more people out there do today and realize the value of content marketing. Thanks for coming by on this one Nikola and have a great rest of the weekend!

Hi Lisa
Great suggestions here.
I especially like the advice to get your branding on point.
It’s amazing how long bloggers can be online and still not understand their own brand… or what I call their “core message.”
It’s no wonder their audience doesn’t get it, either.
-Donna
Thank you Donna. Oh yes, I keep on refinining mine and I think I’ve got it really narrowed down. I help businesses save time managing their social media. I do more than that but that’s the CORE of what I do. 🙂 Thanks for coming by and I hope you don’t get that snow we are expecting here tonight! Stay warm 🙂
Hi Lisa,
Would want others (competitors) to leverage your business ideas and scale their business? I don’t think so. Inasmuch as you want to help others to thrive in their business ventures, you certainly want to keep your ideas secret until at a point when you know you have benefited well enough from the concept. Only then can you give out the idea to others. Thus, secrecy is important and patience works pretty well if you do not see the ROI right away.
Hi there Moss. Excellent point about that one. There is another side too – that you want to do a preview of what’s to come, people love those and some want to be the first to try something new 🙂 Thanks for your input Moss and for your shares on the social networks. Enjoy your day!
Every business should be plan, feasibility studies are very important as well as having patient for a business to grow is one of the key recipe in order to succeed. Thanks Lisa love reading your posts.
Hi Paul, oh yes – planning is key to make it a success! I do have spreadsheets for various aspects of the business and I update weekly as I go along and adjust. You can never still put in business especially this type of one where things are changing so rapdily. Thanks for coming by Paul and have a great rest of your day!
A business cannot see the success without the skilled professionals. It is necessary that you should understand your target customers and focus on branding. These things will surely help you to get the success.
Hi Gaurav, oh yes. I always use professionals now if it is an area of the business I don’t know like doing taxes, accounting, tech management, etc. Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great weekend coming up!
Hello Lisa,
I really Like all of your points. Patience is definitely a key factor to become a successful Business Owner. I also like the point of keeping secrecy of your business ideas and do not disclose them until you have started it. Awesome points you have shared. Just shared it on my social networks.
Have a Great Day 🙂
Vishwajeet
Hi Vishwajeet, thank you. I would agree on the patience. Too many people think it happens overnight and it can take years. Thanks for coming by and sharing Vishwajeet. Hope you have a great rest of the week there.
Being patient is oh so key Lisa. Success finds generous, patient entrepreneurs. You keep giving and helping and give no thought to outcomes. Eventually, you reach a tipping point exposure, so money keeps flowing in persistently….but patience precedes the big bucks. Super post.
Thanks for posting!
I guess they aren’t secrets anymore ; )
