Oftentimes many bloggers, SEO specialists, and small online businesses were really upset with Google – myself included. Why don’t we all just Bing it and forget it? Is the Bing algorithm really different?
Google makes so many changes to its algorithm it is almost impossible to keep up anymore. Maybe they would account for more searches and help us all get more out of Bing vs. Google.
Plus, look how pretty their homepage is! This image is from Mount Yoshino, Nara Prefecture in Japan. Using this search engine is a great way to brush up on your geography as well.

Searching Online With Bing
How often do you use search in a day? #1 of our time online spent is on email followed by search! Shopping now comes in at 80% of searches online.
Google alone accounts for over 8.5 billion searches per day. Of course today we also have alternative search engines like Brave, Start Page and DuckDuckGo.
These alternative search engines took away some of Google’s market share back at the end of 2020 and has increased today in 2024.
According to Impression Marketing, in 2024, Bing accounted for over 10%. of the global search market, while Google dropped to 81.955%. (Google was down from over 90%!)
The Advantage
- Log-in via Facebook on Bing.
- You can also sign in via Microsoft.
- Then, you can earn REWARDS via their Bing Awards. See the image at the top of the blog post to see my Bing rewards. (Brave browser also offers rewards.)
- Finally, you are able to view beautiful images each day on Bing.
Bing Rewards for Binging It
Bing Awards are easy to do. Every time you search you get reward points. You earn 1 credit per 5 searches and up to 15 credits a day.
That is 30 searchers per day and you can earn rewards. When you have enough rewards you visit their redemption center to claim your rewards.
Then, you can earn Starbucks cards, Amazon cards, and more. How nice is that! Is Google rewarding you for searching? They also offer sweepstakes that you can enter to win prizes when you sign up.
How Is The Algorithm?
According to the Search Engine Journal:
“Bingbot uses an algorithm to determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site. The goal is to minimize bingbot crawl footprint on your web sites while ensuring that the freshest content is available.”
You are able to generate reports weekly from Bing on your blog or website. They offer you tips on how you can improve your website as well.
Did you know Microsoft did create the Bing URL submission API that allows publishers and site owners to automatically feed Microsoft Bing, through Bing Webmaster Tools, new and updated URLs for indexing your website?
This way, it doesn’t have to crawl your site to find new or updated content.
Different Between Bing and Google Algorithms Today
The Bing algorithm isn’t as dominant as Google’s, but it has its strengths. Bing uses Microsoft’s AI to improve search relevance and understands context pretty well.
It ranks pages based on factors like quality and relevance but with a bit more emphasis on social signals. Bing’s Image and Video search often get praise for their layout and filtering options, which many users find user-friendly.
Google, on the other hand, leads with more complex ranking techniques, including RankBrain and E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness). It also handles voice and mobile searches exceptionally well.
Both have their pros, but Google generally provides more comprehensive search results, thanks to its vast data resources and advanced tech.
Still, if you’re optimizing for SEO, it’s smart to consider Bing’s unique factors to catch that extra traffic.
