Fiverr To The Blog Rescue and To Your Rescue Too

Fiverr To The Blog Rescue

Do you have things on your blog that you would like to have fixed but you don’t have the time nor the big bucks? That’s where Fiverr to the blog rescue comes in. For just $5 you can find an expert who can help you at Fiverr. Each service provided on Fiverr is called a Gig. You can register there for FREE to buy or sell small services.

The Fiverr Rescue

Fiverr is a place where you can buy or sell small services for $5. Some of you may know I have several blogs and websites. I have been cleaning up some old posts here at Inspire to Thrive but did not have time to deal with all the broken links. The Google Penguin was coming and I wanted to be sure I was ready for it. I had to deposit money into Paypal which took a few days to clear. The person I researched on Fiverr had wonderful ratings (called statuses and levels there). The person was an expert in WordPress issues and more. The day I put the job into the que at Fiverr was the day the Google update took place. The job was complete in less than an hour. I did see a a drop in traffic on that day but it picked back up the following day. Just in the nick of time or not for the Penguin, I’m not sure.

What Fiverr Can Do For You

  • Clean up your blog.
  • Fix up your coding.
  • Elimiante you doing things you don’t like doing whether it’s coding or making you a new logo.
  • Give you more time – the most important thing for just $5! It gave me more time to write more posts, and spend time with family over the long weekend.
  • Learn from an expert. I was amazed how quick this person cleaned up broken links. I need to learn what type of tool they used. I also had them do a table for me on a new blog resource page. I learned more about doing my own tables. I could not take a class for that for just $5.
  • You could make money from Fivver. What could you do quickly for just *$5 to help someone else out? *Each $5 Gig you sell and successfully deliver, accredits your account with a net revenue of $4.

How You Can Make Money Via Fiverr

What are you good at? If you can create banners or business cards you could offer your services. It has to be something that would not take you a long time since the rate of pay is $4 net. You would also have to fulfill requests in a timely manner. I was amazed how quick the person I choose responded to me. They responded within minutes each time.

  • Create ad banners.
  • Create business cards.
  • Create a new blog for someone with a theme and set-up.
  • Handmade jewelry or gifts for $5.
  • eBook covers.
  • Writing and proofreading.
  • Pet models caught my eye – could your pet model a product for someone?
  • Music like custom ringtones and voicemail greetings. Have a great voice? Voicemail greetings sounds easy to make a quick $5.
  • Like to cook? Sell your recipes for $5 each.
  • You can upgrade your gigs or sell them in multiples to make more money.

The ones that seemed shady to me were leaving comments for bloggers, Facebook likes and giving links. I would recommend staying away from those, they remind me of black hat SEO tactics. Would you agree on that one?

Fiverr has been around since 2010 and has been featured on: CNN Money, the Wall Street Journal, Tech Crunch, Smart Money and more.

Have you used Fiverr yet? Would you consider using it to save you time or to make extra money?

  • I have been using Fiverr a lot in the past, but it’s been a while. I usually use it to outsource design, but I have also bought a few videos/animations. Now, I’m thinking that I might need to use Fiverr for other stuff as well. I have even thought about hiring a VA, but that’s a bit early 🙂

  • I love, love, love Fiverr – have used them since the beginning (2010) both as a buyer and seller.

As a buyer, I tend to buy:
*blog headers (found an awesome designer who rocks)
*content – (this is hit and miss, some are good and some are not)
*WP Fixes – code and other quick theme fixes
*Hack – yes! I even found someone who fixed a hacked blog of mine (whew! he was a life saver) I vetted him through and through before going further with him, and he checked out. But this is one area where due diligence is very important, as there are sellers on there who might not be on the up and up and just want access to your blog or server. Buyer beware.

    As a seller:
I have actually made a few hundred dollars offering a quick service that requires hosting and I get a nice referral commission as payment, besides the $4 per sale.

So needless to say I am a BIG FAN of Fiverr. Thanks for sharing, Lisa.

  • I’ve never used Fiverr but I’m sure I will in the future. There is a WordPress plugin called Broken Link Checker. You receive email notifications when a broken link is found and you have the option to have the link repaired or you can trash it. I’ve found it to be very effective.

  • Sorry, Lisa, but I don’t agree with your final comment. I offer a blog commenting service on fiverr and these are not spammy comments. I take time to read the post properly and make a valuable comment, and I use my own name and website link. I do know a lot of the comment offers are trashy, but not all of them, and if someone is just starting out and they want to create some activity on their blog I don’t see why they shouldn’t encourage interaction from visitors by purchasing their first few comments. I always leave genuine comments based on the content I read. I have a really successful gig and lots of very happy customers, in fact I’ve never had an unhappy customer for this gig.

I use fiverr for lots of techie things because I am not in the least bit techie myself. I have always had great service, but I do only use people with excellent feedback (and lots of it!). It’s a big thing for someone to trust another with their log in details! If anything bad happened I should imagine it would put you off letting someone else do stuff for life!

I too would love the name of the person who fixed your broken links. If you can email it to me too I would be very grateful, thanks.

    Enjoy the journey.

  • Hi Lisa, I’m a big fan of Fiverr. My logo is from a Fiverr gig, the guy did a great job with it. Not all of my Fiverr experiences have been great, but enough have that I highly recommend it.

I would like to hire someone to fix my broken links. Do you have to give them admin access to your blog? Anyone you would recommend in particular? I used CommentLuv Broken Link checker and it didn’t work well at all. It found links it said were broken but weren’t, including some of my own. Not only that, but it didn’t remove the links when I clicked to do that.

I agree with you completely about buying comments, Twitter followers, Facebook Likes, etc. Keep it clean.

Thanks so much for the reminder about Fiverr, Lisa!

    • Carolyn, that is so good to know. I really like your logo too! I did give them admin and then I changed passwords after. I can email you who I used. Yes, I get that too with the CommentLuv broken link checker at times. I always check to see if they are broken or not though – especially while I am fixing up old posts. Yes, if you buy them they may be FAKE. I will email you soon Carolyn and thanks for coming by and for your input on Fiverr today.

  • Hi Lisa,

Fiverr to the rescue 🙂 Glad to hear Fiverr kept you from overloading. Nicely done post with interesting information about it too dear.

I’ve been there when I explore about freelancing websites online before I decided to offer services myself via blog. It’s immensely popular. I have found lots of creativity there just for $5 🙂

There was a guy who would create a birthday song with his violin. I remember another guy used to drive around his area with a banner mentioning link of any given website for just $5 🙂 How cool! There were gigs over $5 too.

However feedback is what’s important there 🙂 When you establish with positive feedback, requests come on your way. Until then, it’s not sweet though 😉

You have a fabulous Friday over there Lisa 🙂

Could you do things on it and earn money from your country Mayura? Appreciate your coming by and your input as always. Have a great weekend!

      • Yeah, I’ve found some in my country there too Lisa 🙂 Not so popular but has some reputation.

As you know, I’ve been there before I offer services myself. I have friends who earns money through freelance websites too, but I’m kinda like to offer it in my own way Lisa 🙂

Another problem is, in Sri Lanka, you can’t receive payments via PayPal. A BIG disadvantage for freelancers as most of such websites do payments through PayPal, else they have to sacrifice some amount from their payment when do Bank Wire.

  • You are very brave Lisa to give someone like that access to your blog. That’s where I draw the line I’m afraid. I have no doubt they got good ratings but that just makes me nervous. I prefer asking for help from trusted friends instead, I don’t mind paying them.

I have used Fiverr a lot though and I do admit that I’ve had just as many bad experiences as I have had good. The thing with Fiverr though is that they’ll refund your money if you aren’t happy so even though it’s just $5, that’s important to me. I’ve had some excellent work done for me on Fiverr but then you have those that are offering the services you said to stay clear of. To each his own right!

So glad you had this done for you because it is a chore, I know. Who has time for that stuff.

I’ve been on vacation so I haven’t even had a chance to check my stats so I’m kind of nervous but think I’ll be fine since my last spring cleaning of my blog. I should be all good to go.

Enjoy what’s left of this week Lisa.

I love Fiverr. I’ve used it twice.

However it took me some time to try it because I was afraid of being scammed.

My question to you is how do you trust someone you don’t know with your blog login? God know I do NOT have the time to mess with my blogs, and there’re tons of things that need to be done, but I’m a bit worry. I would love if you could tell me the Fiverr name of the person who helped you 🙂

I had someone do a logo just to see how it would turn out and I hated the logo I think for that I would rather pay someone from etsy which is still less expensive than most people. I want to do some type of blog commercial for my magazine I may go on there and see what I can get from that end.

Question: do you set up a separate sign in for a person on fiverr when they work on coding on your blog? If so, how did you do that?

  • Wow, simply awesome content you have here Lisa.

I always went to Fiverr when I needed something to be done in regards of coding for my blog. Thanks for the article!

  • Hi Lisa,
Fiverr is a great help and is a great idea too. It is really helpful and you have explained it very properly. Even small blogger can afford paying $ 5. In recent time I have seen many pro services available on Fiverr including SEO and designing too. These days there have been many other services introduced like Fiverr.

  • An expert who can help with your blog? It seems a good idea but …

You have to be very careful who you choose.

I only use Fiverr to create things I do not have the skills to do it myself: headers, ebook covers, infographics etc.
When it comes to hire an expert to clean your blog, fix your broken links etc. I don’t do this.

This means to let somebody inside my blog even if it is just for short while.
The ratings (status updates etc.) are not enough. Believe me. There are a lot of bad people there with a totally different mindset than Europeans or Americans. You need to know that expert personally. How can you trust a person based only on the ratings on Fiverr?

It is so simple to do something evil when you get access to a site or blog. A hacker can introduce a malicious software or just a code sequence and use it to find out the password. Then it will gain access to your site entirely.
This is a very risky business. I always do things myself. When the going gets tough I search for an expert and yes pay but never let him come inside my blog.

Yes, you can make money on Fiverr by creating gigs. However, you need to promote your gigs using all you have: Facebook page, Twitter, G+, blog everything.

New gigs are constantly created every day on Fiverr. If you create a gig today and check it tomorrow, you will see it is not on the first page of gigs already (for your keywords). It is probably on the second page. If you do not promote the gig, it will soon fall into oblivion. Nobody will come to hire you for anything.

That is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

    Have a nice day

  • Nice Post Lisa, I use Fiverr all the time for clients. It is low budget and the results are mixed but you may have to buy some bad gigs before you find people who really deliver. Don’t be afraid to wait to leave feedback until you are sure they delivered. I reject a lot of work and cancel for a refund. It is a mixed bag for many things. As far as comments, I just started doing a few gigs. I actually offer a comment gig because I know how hard it is for bloggers to get comments. Most commenting gigs end up being broken English and not worth it, but if I like a post I will share it and I read a ton of blogs. Just started yesterday so no takers yet but it is a service I am happy to do for others. :]

  • I like Fiverr and have had a few things done for me. One is a video intro that I have yet to start playing with. One thing I will add is to do your homework. There are some great designers on there and some bad ones. Read the reviews and look at their portfolio. There are some amazing stuff on there if you hunt for it. Lisa, great write up about Fiverr. Some people call it the cheap way out, but if you don’t have the money to pay designer prices, this is the next best thing. You have to do what works for you and your pocket book bottom line.

As for offering services… I like the sounds of it, but would absolutely need to be certain that any task offered wouldn’t take more than, say, 10 or 15 minutes. I’ll think on that a bit. 🙂

    • Thanks Ellen. I had read about it a few time and when I realized how many broken links I had from switching from Blogger to WordPress I just had to try it out. It saved me valuable time. And my Google Webmaster tools is error FREE now. I bet you will find something you could do – proofreading! Thanks for your DM – I really appreciated that Ellen. Enjoy the rest of your week.

  • Hey Lisa – Fiverr is awesome and I have used several services from there while publishing my ebook. The only problem I can see is that anyone can publish their gigs (like even I did ). I would suggest people to read reviews and see how many gigs were sold before engaging into the deal. Also, one of my friends had a bad experience when getting his website logo done, and after several unsuccessful attempts reaching the seller, he contacted Fiverr and they actually refunded his money!!!! That was pretty neat i should say. Thanks for writing this up.

I’ve used Fiverr for minor things in the past, and quite a few times but I’ve never thought about going there for anything technical of within our secure areas.
