My 13 Most Memorable Blog Posts From This YearBlog posts

Can you believe we are in December of 2013? This year sure has flown by for me. Do you have any blog posts that stick out for you that you read during this year? Or do they all sound and read alike? I found some that really made me think, re-read and thoroughly enjoy. They stuck out because they were unique and really hit a nerve as well. I’m going to share them with you. (Of course there were many more great posts this past year but I choose to pick only 13.)

Here Are My 13 Favorite Blog Posts From This Year:

Marriage Isn’t For You – This was the blog post that had over 24 million views in just 3 days by Seth Adam Smith. It resonated with me because I disagreed and it really hit a nerve. Maybe that’s why it go so many views and over 4,300 comments!

What I Learned From Walking Away From Social Media for 5 Days – By John Paul Aguiar – This post appeared early in 2013 and I never forgot it. I wondered what would happen if I did the same, how many people would really notice?

Forget FOMO. I’ve got FOBF – The fear of being forgotten – A similar post to John’s by Nancy Jean of Just My Two Cents. Does anyone really care if we are NOT active on social media Nancy asks as she took a real two week vacation.

eggs in a basket blog posts

The Day I Almost Lost My Blogging Business By Having Too Many Eggs in the One Basket – This is one of the most inspiring blog posts by Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger. Imagine Darren almost losing his business?  He really teaches us an important lesson here.

The Birthday From Hell by Adrienne Smith – A very sad blog post that will make you cry and realize how precious life is. Adrienne always keeps it real and this is real as it gets. My heart still goes to Adrienne on her loss. This is one of the most emotional blog posts you will read.

How to Configure WordPress SEO by Yoast Correctly?  This informative by Reginald Chan is one of my favorite blog posts for referring to directions for Yoast – an SEO plugin. It’s one of my favorite plugins and every so often I have to update things along the way. Yoast SEO plugin

Blogger Interviews – Blogging and Social Media HOA with Mitch and Ileane – How could I not have these 2 blogging greats on my list? You will see how real they are in the video between Ileane and Mitch. You will see how “life” happens even on a video. They are real people and they explain to us how they have become top bloggers in their niche.

12+ Helpful Blogging Tips for Pet Bloggers – Another dynamic duo – A guest post by Bren over at Mayura’s place. Bren’s 12 simple tips can be used for all blogging categories but she focuses on the pet niche. The same strategies can apply for other types of blogs. This is a must read for beginner and experienced bloggers alike.

Why Blogging Naked Is The Way Forward – Doesn’t Tim Bonner’s title make you want to read this post? It sheds light on how to be unique with the millions of blogs out there in the massive blogosphere. Great tips via Tim on this post.

sore from using computer? Is Your Sitting Posture Correct? I found this post to be one of the most informative blog posts for our blogging health. I started 2013 with a pinched nerve and offline for at least a week due to it. This post by Harleena illustrates for us the proper way to sit as we sit for hours on end at our computers. Don’t wait till your are in pain or unable to use your computer to check out Harleena’s post.

Bloggers Are Helpful – I think I really loved the image on this post by Ashley Faulkes. But this is a must read for new bloggers who don’t realize the value of relationships while starting their blogs. It really teaches us that we are not blogging alone on an island.

When A Wonderful Woman Tells Her Story – One of the best blog posts is an interview of Angela McCall done by Silviu from NetMarkSuccess. This was an awesome interview done that makes you get to know the person on a professional and personal level. I learned so much about Angela from this interview! It was one of the best interviews I’ve read. It included a video too.

How to Grow  Your Blog to 100,000 Visits a Month Within 1.5 years by Neil Patel – This is one of the best blog posts I’ve read on how to get your blog over the top and become successful. It really inspired me and I think every blogger should read it today.

Heading Into 2014 Blogging

It’s hard to believe we are almost done with 2013. Do you have new blogging plans for 2014?  What can we learn from the above posts to make ours more memorable in the coming year? I hope to have more blog posts in 2014 after reading Neil Patel’s post. Enstine Muki touched on this as well with his Alexa  ranking dropping fast in 34 days.  I will continue to research if SEO or Social brings more traffic in 2014 as the online landscape continues to change. On a personal note 2014 may bring dramatic changes to my personal life and some of these may touch on my online ventures as well. I’m sure I will learn even more and have more to share for 2014. As a wise uncle of mine always says:

Though I have read two or three posts out of these already. Specially the last one from Neil Patel.

  • My personal favorite is “how to configure wordpress SEO by Yoast correctly” by Reginald chan. Who has put in all his long blogging experience in this blog post only to configure wordpress SEO correctly. I had always been an admirer of his work since so long, but this post was much more than what he actually write. This is a very helpful tutorial, not only for beginner’s but also for mature bloggers. One must learn from this guy, as he is the one who got his blog’s alexa in 20’000s and page rank to two. I also have gone through some of the blog post mentioned in this article but for me, Reginald’s configure wordpress SEO by yoast correctly is the winner of 2013. Nice post Lisa.

  • Hi Lisa

Thank you so much for including me in your list of most memorable posts of 2013. That’s made my day and even possibly my year!

I must admit, I know some of the posts you’ve mentioned but not all, so I will go and check them out.

For me, a couple of posts really resonated with me this year in particular:

Traffic Generation Cafe: How To Promote Your Blog –

I refer back to Ana’s post every time I submit a post on my blog.

Inspire To Thrive: Blog Burnout – How To Get Over It And When Not To Tweet –

Oh look, that’s one of yours! 🙂 This post really resonated with me Lisa because it came at the time that I felt quite demotivated and it really helped to get me back on track.

I’d love to get some more tips on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ next year Lisa. That’s what I’d like more of from you, particularly Facebook. I’m lousy with my Facebook Page.

As for my 2014 plans, pretty much the same with my main blog. For my niche blog, I’m still working towards the $1,000 mark and I’m two-thirds of the way there.

Once I get there, I then need to decide whether I introduce more products and try and make it an authority blog or build more niche sites and rinse and repeat!

I’m not sure which way I’ll go yet.

In any case Lisa, I appreciate your friendship, help and support over the past year. Thank you!

Enjoy the rest of your day.

I’ve really enjoyed your blog Tim too and learned many things along the way. It’s great how we can all help one another. How is your 2nd blog coming along? I hope you enjoy the rest of the day and week there Tim. Your kids must be getting so excited as Christmas is nearing!

  • Hey Lisa,

What a great list and a wide variety of topics.

I so appreciate you sharing one of my posts too but yeah, that was a sad one. Although I haven’t been dwelling on the fact he’s not here, he’s certainly been on my mind a lot. The funny thing is though that he won’t let me forget him. I know people will say I’m nuts but he visited me a little over a week ago now.

I have a plant that sits to the right of me on my filing cabinet that is level with my desk. It’s within arms reach. I was sitting here typing away and all of a sudden it’s like someone slapped the leaves on my plant. I just sat there a moment wondering what the heck was going on but later learned it was Scott trying to get my attention. He sure did, if only I could have had a conversation with him. You know, so I could hear what he was saying cause I know he sure can hear me.

Thanks for this list and there are several I haven’t read yet but a lot I have.

Have a great week Lisa and thanks again.

Thanks for that post! And have a wonderful rest of the week Reginald.
