Rafflecopter Missing Link for Online Giveaways and Contests
Rafflecopter Missing Link!
Rafflecopter missing link was a factor with this online giveaway. The Pin to Win contest for $50 of Lingerie was held and the results are in. The numbers have been tallied. Some results were good. Other results were not so good without using the Rafflecopter entry application. Without Rafflecopter there was a missing link.
Rafflecopter Missing Link Drawbacks
A few reasons the contest was not as well seen online is that some of the online contest sites required you to have the Rafflecopter contest applicaton. We missed out on on some linking with online contests and giveaway websites. More important we missed exposure for the contest online. One of my favorite giveaway websites Sleep Tight required you to have the Rafflecopter entry system. The same applied for a few other of the giveaway websites and blogs. Another drawback was the time it took to count all the pins, re-pins and shares on social media. We had 2 top contestants that were so close that we gave them both a $50 worth of lingerie as the prize.
Online Contest Positive Takaways
On the positive side of the contest we did see traffic double! That was a real positive takeaway. We also gained a lot of Pinterest Followers and re-pins and pins right from the website. That was one of the reasons the traffic doubled from the contest. Just check out this chart below 2 days prior to the contest deadline. Traffic is still higher than in the past on a daily basis now.
In looking further at analytics Pinterest came in second to Google for the most traffic sources in the past month. That even beat out Facebook which we paid for some promoted posts! Remember my favorite saying : Don’t put all your social eggs in one basket, ever!
Rafflecopter Missing Link Would Not Be Next Time
For the next contest we would use Rafflecopter for sure. We would also team up with another blogger to have it on their site. And we would cross-promote on our site as well. Two websites working together can produce more than just one. Two head are better than one, right? That would mean they would get a product as well to review to do the giveaway. We’ve done that in past for another site and it worked pretty well.
What else would you suggest to make an online contest produce more results and not have a Rafflecoper missing link happen? Would you also have a blogger host the contest on their site and cross promote it?

Wonderful indeed Lisa!
You must have had an experience trying out various ways to hold the contest, and a one that would only make you better at having more of such contests in the future
Wow! Double the traffic, that’s awesome indeed. I surely need to check out this option and keep Pinterest for contests in the future, if I have any on my site. Congratulations to the winners too.
Thanks for sharing this with us, and wishing you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day

Thanks Harleena, yes double the traffic was sure a good thing! I hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day too. I would do another Pinterest contest but add the Rafflecopter with it.

Hi Lisa,
What a learning experience
I really glad you take that way as you can experience what you have been missing and see, next time you can be more organized. You could have taken Rafflecopter, but I think there you just need to announce winners but no learning experience like this.
I think the exposure is a MUST as eventhough it’s free giveaway, we need to send the message among people as much as we can dear. The more we reach, the more will come
I’ve seen a link on your sidebar about the giveaway. I think designing an attractive banner next time and ask known bloggers or webmasters in relevant niche to display it for at least for one week or so would be better Lisa
Even folks can pin that to Pinterest as a way to spread the message with the link to giveaway too. You know much better when it comes to promotion and advertising, right?
Glad to hear Pinterest traffic was doubled and I still believe visual impact for such a giveaway is a great support dear
You can think for more ideas and make it even more better. A different kind of contest might inspire others to engage more.
Well, Happy Valentine’s Day Lisa
Cheers…

Hi Mayura, yes, every experience sure is. An image might be better, but I wasn’t sure it was appropriate for my niche. Something to consider for next time though for sure, thanks! Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day in your neck of the woods Mayura?

Mmm… Yeah Lisa
Need to find relevant blogs and websites. However images get more attention and shares on Social Media too, no?
You can use it in your email footer too.
Valentine’s day is quite a normal day for me Lisa
Mostly my Christian friends celebrate it with their partners and go for a movie, shopping or do something special. They have much freedom there. Haven’t met mine for about 8 months but chatting online everyday. No much freedom to meet. Well, depends on how parents look at it
Cheers…

I hope you will get to see each other soon. Thanks for coming by and adding that input there.

Hey Lisa! I think cross-posted and hosting a contest on someone else’s site is a fabulous idea! Sounds almost as fun as guest posting.
I was wondering how your Pinterest contest was going to work out. Seems like it was more than you bargained for. There are a couple other apps out there for contests I found several for Twitter ones and also Giveaway Tools, similar to Rafflecopter. In my last Rafflecopter contest, I found if you let Rafflecopter choose your winner(s), it’s not based off of the point system, it’s done randomly. Kinda stinks, huh.
Glad to see Pinterest boosted your traffic.

Interesting about your Rafflecopter experience Bren. I figured it was picked fair and square. Very interesting, wonder if others found the same. Will you use a different app next time yourself? Thanks for your input Bren:)

I think I might try that Giveaway tools one. Kristen, 4 Hens and a Rooster, is currently using it on hers. I like the functionality of it better so far but I won’t really know until I actually use it. Probably use when I do the gift card giveaway on MGP.

We love those learning experiences Lisa but we wish the results could have been better. But had you not done this then you would not have known.
Now double the traffic was fabulous so hopefully that will bring you more sales down the road cause they’ll just love what they see. Oh yeah!
Thanks for sharing this with us because I remember your post when you weren’t sure which direction to go. It still sounds like it was a winner.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hi Adrienne, yes you never know until you try
The extra traffic has remained so that is a positive thing. I can’t wait to do another one in the coming months for scrubs with nursing week coming in May. I hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day Adrienne. It’s over-rated in my opinion

Definitely a learning experiencee like Mayura says but I’m so glad you had a surge in traffic. Isn’t that a cool feeling?
I had team up with thirt-ysomething other bloggers for a contest that was sponsored by someone else and it worked out for everyone involved. At the end of the post we added an HTML code to display the Rafflecopter box and how to get entries. I don’t have any experience with anything else but this seems to work out very well.
How great of you to award two winners, awesome customer service
Hope you’re having a great week Lisa.

Hi Corina, yes, that was a really good thing and is still hapenning too. My hubby watched the hunger games too many times and came up with that tie and 2 winners. (It was a depressing movie to me) I can’t wait to do another content in the coming months. Enjoy the rest of your week Corina, it’s almost TGIF.

This is very interesting Lisa. I have tested a few contest on Facebook for my clients, but I haven’t had much success with it so far. Do you know if the contests via Rafflecopter can be translated into Norwegian?

That is a good question Jens, I just checked their FAQ page and they don’t at the moment but they will be! And you can use it with Facebook. I really liked the Pinterest contest Jens. It depends on what you are giving away too if it will make sense on Pinterest.

Thanks for this really helpful post explaining the mysteries of Rafflecopter! Think it is very easy to be put off by how complicated it LOOKS. But actually you can get a lot of entries done with relatively little effort.

Hi Sofiya, welcome to Inspire to Thrive. Rafflecopter really isn’t complicated – probably the easiest way to do a contest. And many love just looking for them to enter. Loved your post over at Forbes. Had to check it out with the eye catching title there to be sure you were not a spammer

Amazing article! Really enjoyed reading it! But whilst doing so a question popped into my head: In Step 5 you write about: “For example, tie the winning selection to a specific social activity, i.e. Likes (Facebook)”. Isn’t that forbidden due to facebook’s promotion guidelines? Just want to be sure…But really a huge thumbs up for that article!
If you pay to promote a contest and check out their rules – you can read them here.I would always check back before doing one there or mention of Facebook. They are always changing how you can do things there. Great point, thanks!
