Website Traffic From Pinterest Shows In The Numbers
Website Traffic Increased From Using Pinterest App & Pinning More Often
It was very interesting to see the data on website traffic after using the Pinterest app and using Pinterest more often and consistently as explained in the last post on the Pinterest app. I had been using Pinterest every other day or every few days to using it daily and the results show in the numbers.
The Pinterest Website Traffic Numbers
I have 3 different Pinterest accounts and used my new Droid app on one of the retail sites. That one really soared to #6 for all traffic sources. One of the sites that I checked for Pinterest does not even have an account! That amazed me too as it was at #13. The same as this site which I do not pin a lot from that often. Have you checked to see where Pinterest falls for your source of website traffic? It is easy to do in your Google Analytics account – Look under traffic sources, all sources. You can see one of mine below. (#6)
So How Can You Use Pinterest To Grow Your Website Traffic?
Don’t just pin- Interact there and share other’s pins. Like other pins too. Pinterest is a social site. Be a little social. Comment.
Pin Regularly - Don’t just visit Pinterest weekly and expect to see your website traffic grow. Try to get there at least every other day and interact with other pinners.
Use Great Images on your website or blog. Some claim that longer images get more pins. Others love pinning infographics. Food, fashion and home are always big draws to more re-pins too.
Like others pins and re-pin them. Think of it like Twitter. If you really like something don’t you re-tweet or favorite it? On Facebook, you give a like or a comment? The same applies for Pinterest.
Schedule your pins. Use Pingraphy - It is like using the Buffer app for the other social websites. There is nothing worse than going onto Pinterest and seeing the same pinner putting up 20+ pins on the same type of items. (usually food or clothing) I tend to unfollow if I see it.
Check Your Boards – Do your boards have a nice cover image? Sometimes you pin and may forget to go and look back at your boards. Make sure the right pins are on the right board. It’s easy to pin to the wrong one.
Have Fun – Pinning should be fun, enjoy pinning and looking at other’s pins. If there are pins you don’t like, stop following the person pinning them.
How often are you using Pinterest for your website or blog?
Have you checked your website traffic from Pins?

Pinterest is 40 on my list in that view and moves up to 18 when I look at just referral traffic. I’ve slowed down a lot on Pinterest and I need to get back into it. I create or take most of the images/photos I use on my blog so the photo sites are pretty much stress free without the fear of copyright issues. I’ll check our Pingraphy, Thanks

Hi Brian, it really doesn’t take much time to visit there daily for a few minutes. I think that is the key though. Consistent. I really want to narrow down my social sites for 2013 to a handful or less. That’s why I’ve been doing lots of testing here and there. Thanks for coming by and sharing your input.

Very awesome stats Lisa! I never seem to get around to Pinterest. Just too many other networks to keep up with. Again, I never know how you do it all SUPER WOMAN! I’m glad to see that Pinterest is generating traffic though. I’ve heard it from other bloggers and businesses as well.

Hi Brenda, I’m trying to narrow mine down for 2013 and have been testing here and there. I think you’d do well with the dog images
You DO have to be consistent, but it doesn’t make much time daily.

Hi Lisa,
That’s wonderful
Actually I’m pretty low of using Pinterest for my blog. I do pin stuff on it for my followers and I get some traffic too. But mostly I get traffic there not from my account, but pinners stop by on my blog and pin directly to their accounts. The pin button helping me on generating traffic
Cheers…

I also haven’t started using it more Lisa and I’m way down the list on referral traffic to my site. I started pinning some but I admit I’m not consistent. I don’t want to pin everything but the posts are what I enjoy sharing the most.
I think I just need to be a little more consistent on a daily basis with this and I have a feeling that I’ll start seeing some traffic. I’m having a little more activity on my account then before so it is working.
Thanks for this update and reminder. I appreciate that, always looking for ways to improve.

Hi Lisa
I focus so much attention on Twitter and Google+, I completely forget about Facebook and Pinterest.
Your Pinterest results show that I shouldn’t. I’ve not logged in for a while, so I’m going to add Pinterest to my to do list for tomorrow and take another look.
I noticed you followed me on Pinterest the other day and I’ll be honest, I don’t even know how to follow you back. I’ll make sure I find out tomorrow!

That’s really interesting. I guess you use HootSuite to manage all your social sites per a previous post. That’s probably a less stressful way to monitor everything. I feel like I’m bouncing all over the place.
I’ve heard that Pininterest creates a lot of traffic but haven’t used it that much. Half of me would like to avoid interacting at another website, the other half feels like it’s missing something.

Hi Lauren, that’s on my list for 2013 too – Hootsuite Pro. I feel that way too. Always playing beating the clock before I rush off to my day job
Add holiday shopping and stuff too to the mix. Pinterest works very well on the retail sites I manage not as well here on Inspire but I will work on it more to see if it happens here too. I love the app for it on the Droid too. Makes it easier. Maybe Hootsuite will incorporate Pinterest too.

I mainly use Twitter & Facebook but would like to also branch out to Google+ but one step at a time

Hi Lisa!
Hmmmmmmm. Seems to be a unanimous consensus to narrow down or streamline all those social sites in use. I’ve got to agree. One of my things to do in the new year too. I have a photo site and posting all those pics here, there & everywhere eats up the hours/days/weeks and doesn’t really leave much time for the social part of social sites.
Thanks for the heads up on Pingraphy. I’ve been looking for similar apps or sites that kinda sorta automate the posting process. Maybe a few hours saved here & there and there will actually be some time for being social.

Sorry for stopping by late – just been caught up with work, though am glad I managed to make it
I still have to check out my traffic, but it would be affected as are other platforms like Klout too if you aren’t really regular with them – isn’t it? I remember the time when Pinterest had just been introduced and how we used to spend hours and hours on it, but with time, I for one have learnt to find ways to get away from it to be able to work! But yes, just as you mentioned, there’s a lot you can do with Pinterest, which I am heading right over to give a re-look now.

Hey Lisa,
I was just going through your post to get my learn on when I came across this one. It’s funny because I found some great ideas from Pauline Bennett on how to increase an email list using Pinterest and other social media sites, but Pinterest caught my attention out of all of them.
Now I come across this post and after reading your success with Pinterest, I’m on my way to edit my boards and pins right now. I’ll admit I don’t socialize much there other than liking and repinning but I’ll certainly start communicating and leaving comments.
Thanks for sharing your success story and I wish you more like that! Have a great weekend
