Moments That Truly Inspire You In A Day

Do you have moments in a day that truly inspire you?

I just had a moment that inspired me. I am off from my day job today and went to the track to walk after a dental appointment. I really want to lose a few pounds but also wanted to work on the retail websites to get better ranking on Google. Q4 is upon us and I want the retail websites to do very well as layoffs loom at my day job. So as I’m walking I see this elderly man with a walker making every effort to put one foot in front of the other.

Inspire you

Isn’t it amazing?  You could tell it took all he had to make every step. It took him around 30 minutes to go around the entire track which is a quarter of a mile. Would this inspire you to move more? To not take walking for granted? Or not to take your health for granted today? I stayed and walked a little more, if he could why couldn’t I? I did not want to take my health for granted, no work can be done on the websites if I’m sick in bed.

What Does Inspire You Really Mean?

According to the dictionary inspire  means:

  • To fill someone up with an urge to do or feel something
  • Create a positive feeling in a person
  • Animate something with a feeling or action
  • Give rise to – to cause another – such as  a sequel to a book or a movie
  • Inhale – draw in air (physically)

If you really look around throughout your day you can find inspiring moments. I found another that inspired me from Barry Wells on Twitter.

This is a British Adventure to help a friend win a wheelchair. All you need to do is log into Twitter and vote and leave a comment too if you like.  Simple. Why not help out someone in need today?

How To Get Inspired

  • Put yourself in someone’s else’s shoes
  • Look around you – try to feel what others may be feeling
  • Read stories of people that have struggled
  • Listen to others around you – maybe you can help?

I’d love to hear about an inspiring moment that you experienced recently.

  • Truly inspirational Lisa!

We come across such people so many times and feel so small in-front of them. In-fact they motivate and inspire us to move on against all odds, and yes the question – if they can, why can’t we.

Love the cause and awareness you are creating through this post. Just re-tweeted Barry’s tweet and voted for the link provided too. Anything to help others. :)

    Thanks for sharing. :)

  • Lee says:

Hay Lisa, I’m the Lee, Barry is talking about. Thank you so much for your vote, your kind words but above all your support. I have been plagued by a cheat and non supportive people, some of which are my ‘friends and family’. The support from strangers has been overwhelming and I’m truly, truly humbled by the human spirit and the desire for others to help me. I can not thank you and everyone like you enough. Best wishes Lee

  • Barry Wells says:

    Hi Lisa,

First of all a huge “THANK YOU” for including my tweet where I’m trying to help my friend Lee win a competition. I really appreciate it Lisa thanks.

I should point out that the competition is to win a Segway that Lee intends to adapt (if he wins) into an all terrain wheelchair, which will allow him to get out and about with his kids. Lee’s one of the most fun loving guys I know and deserves a break after some recent health issues have knocked him for six, which obviously impacts on his family and none more so than his children.

You’re so right about finding inspiration all around us, just as you did with the Gent out walking. Every step was a major effort for him but he kept pushing himself as he has a desire and determination to improve his condition, just as Lee is trying to do.

Unfortunately I haven’t been anywhere for the last few months, due to being laid up (as you know) but I have found inspiration through watching the Paralympics and some of those athletes. To watch a man with no legs running the 100 meters on prosthetics and only just fall short of the able bodied athletes times was so moving. Just as it was with all the sports, swimmers with limbs missing, blind footballers all of them moved me. So much so that I know that once I’m up and about again I’ll be pushing myself to loosing weight and improving my overall fitness.

As you said we can’t do anything with our work if we’re in bed sick and I know all about that Lisa :)

Thanks again for including the link to Lee’s competition, I know that he’ll appreciate it as much as I do.

    Have a great weekend Lisa

    Take care, Barry

You are welcome Barry. I did see some of that paralympics – truly amazing. I really hope Lee can win it. If not maybe a fundraiser could be started. I’m not sure how much those Segway’s go for. It sounds like he really deserves one.

    Hi Lisa,

Your support for Lee through Barry is amazing. I love the inspiring image, and you’re right, we take so many things for granted, that when we see this kind perseverance, it’s impossible to stay complacent.

    Thanks for all you do.

There are a lot of things out there that can inspire us, aren’t there, Lisa?

I have been inspired by many, but most of all a fictional character known as Batman (he is a big inspiration to me on several things such as social duties/responsibilities, determination, passion and other things).

But, of course, he is fictional (but, could be possible). I listen/watch Batman related music/cartoon at least once every day (I am addicted to Batman, but at the same time, the music and other things inspire me to take action. Take for example: I am listening to Batman music right now and that is just inspiring me to do commenting :D )

Anyways, there are many inspiring stories out there, many people who know their limitations, but still push beyond to move forward, to achieve their goals.

    All of them.

    Great models.

On how we should can achieve our goals.

    • Lisa says:

Jeevan, yes if we look around there certainly is. I remember your post on Batman, wow didn’t realize you listened to it daily too. Guess it can motivate you daily and that’s a good thinng :)

  • Jan Bierens says:

What inspires me? Well, that could be a lot of things. One thing that really inspires me is people that have a “never give up” mentality and radiate their commitment of to other people, effortless it seems.
Never say die and “Bring it On”.

  • Susan Silver says:

I voted for Barry and retweeted.

Inspiration finds me in most places: the shower, the car, watching television, etc. It thinks I’m available 24/7. Mostly, I’m inspired by achievers that say, “I can do it,” when others say, “No you can’t.”

This is exactly why I always through support to other bloggers and especially you girl. You have been a great friend online and the support you give to other bloggers have been tremendous. That type of genuine support is rare and there isn’t allot of it online. Barry on the other hand is a superb person and will give you the shirt off his back if he could. As always, glad to have you as friend girl!

  • Mayura says:

    Hi Lisa,

I always inspired from people not popular, but people who struggle to achieve their goals under many circumstances. Sometimes I feel I’m not that brave enough :) Yes, I am. I think when compared to ‘em, I’m just in my safe zone.

Actually I didn’t know why Barry Wells always keep his eye on Wheelchairs and his favorite is Paralympic. Lately I got to know his story. Gosh… He’s one who struggle through his life. Amazing and very helpful personality.

Most lately I have inspired again by a little girl. Here we have Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and she passed it among all other students in her school. She’s not the best of All-Island. What’s inspiring is that she born without 2 hands and a foot. Can you imagine a little girl write using only her foot and gaining victory? :) Absolutely awesome. You can see her story here ~ http://www.newsfirst.lk/english-news/index.php?view=news_more&id=16498.

Awesome post Lisa :) The image of the fellow itself inspiring me.

    Cheers…
