What Are Your Klout Moments?

Klout Moments

Have you checked out your Klout account lately? They had made changes about a week or so ago with everyone’s scores and yesterday released Klout Moments.

Klout

It appears Klout takes your most liked posts from Facebook or the most commented ones and put them in your moments. I noticed there were no tweets there in Klout Moments. Tweets were under Social Interactions along with more Facebook posts. The biggest surprise for me was that Facebook accounted for 45.96% of my score and Twitter only 45.35%.  I really thought Twitter would have been higher for me.  LinkedIn, Klout and Google+ accounted for the rest. I was also surprised FourSquare and Instagram did not account for anything.

Klout Scores

Klout has changed their algorithm several times and there are those that live by the scores and those that think it’s a farce. I have heard of some people getting jobs because of their Klout scores but mostly work in PR or social media. I personally like the perks that come with Klout. It’s fun to get prizes in the mail like cosmetics, tee-shirts and gift cards for lunches. Some perks are awarded at a score of 40, others need 50, 60 or above. Some Klout users  need to have special topics as their Klout to get certain perks.  There was one for a healthy drink called Re-Invent and because of my topics I did not qualify :(

They even categorize the perks now by topics like:

  • Entertainment
  • Experiences
  • Food and beverage
  • Retail
  • Sports
  • Technology
  • Charity called Klout for Good
It is a great way for brands to get new products out into the market. The can send out free samples to those that will chat about it on Facebook or send out tweets or even blog out their wonderful products through Klout Perks. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Since this is just rolled out you may find some bugs – my Facebook friends are not showing up and others cannot connect their WordPress accounts. It may take a few weeks to get all the kinks worked out as with any roll-out.
Do you like the new Klout? Do you believe it has any validity? Are you surprised by any of your scores?

Mine isn’t activated yet  Probably won’t be for a while since I just rejoined Klout. I look forward to checking it out.

I applaud the changes. Knowing how much of your score from which networks is a boost to those using it for analytics. I don’t rely on Klout for much anymore. I never qualified for the perks I really wanted!

Hi Susan, your new score was really high – I bet you’ll get more perks. You have to log in daily to see what perks are available before they are gone. I’ve missed a few, live and learn :)

  • It looks nice Lisa!

I also went ahead and just saw the new modified Klout just yesterday and was was checking through most of the buttons and changes they had. I had got a mail that said why my klout score dropped, which was because I had linked my Fanpage, and they asked me to change to the profile page to get the old score back, which I did.

Also, I did manage to see the tweets under profiles on the right side corner drop down menu, where you can choose from various options like view your recent moments, public moments, twitter moments etc. I guess what you choose, shows up there.

Ah..yes…perks are nice though I haven’t yet participated in any. I love the achievements too and how they keep adding to our profile.

Thanks for sharing and letting all of us know about the recent changes :)

    Hey Lisa,
I must say that I didn’t come across this Klout moments before. I didn’t activate it yet but I definitely find it interesting. Thanks for the share!!

Hi Lisa, I’m really glad to see the new interface on Klout and I do think that they have done a good job improving the scores. I’m pleasantly surprised to see that Facebook is making up a bigger part of my influence because I have been working really hard over there and spending a lot more time there lately.

Did you ever find your Facebook friends on Klout?

    Thanks for the recap.

Hi Ileane, no never found them yet. Will log back in this morning. I haven’t done much more on FB and was surprised about mine. I spend more time on Twitter. And I was surprised nothing for Foursquare which I use. Maybe the stats are not all in their system yet. Time will tell. Thanks for coming by today Ileane. Have a nice long weekend too.

    Hi Lisa,

Very nice to see you catch up new changes so fast Lisa :) Great! I’ve seen the new look on preview mode but it isn’t activated for me yet. (Oh wait… I gotta check right now.) Nope… it isn’t.

Are you kidding me? Really? Facebook ranks higher than Twitter for you? Hmm… A BIG change for you. Anyway I think now Klout more concentrated on popular networks. However still no Google+ pages or new accounts there. Ohw they are missing competition.

    Cheers…

I abandoned Klout some time back. I didn’t appreciate how they were accessing accounts without my authorization and that really put a very bad taste in my mouth. If people have to compare me to whatever my number is then I’d prefer to not be a part of that at all. You definitely know though that this is just my own personal opinion.

I hope that they continue to improve their service and if you like the site, all the more power to you. Glad you’re liking it.

You are not alone on that Adrienne. I love the perks so that’s why I stay. I hope they do get more accurate and relevant in the future. Thanks for coming by and have a great long weekend.

  • It seems the more I hear about Klout from Klout, the more I hear from others that Klout doesn’t matter.

I follow it, but not religiously. Most of my score comes from Twitter, and I have a pretty good idea of what I’m tweeting

I wonder how many times they will revise the algorithm?

    • Lisa says:

I know Candice, huh? I thought the same thing too. Sometimes you wonder if they made scores higher so more people get perks so more companies can be a part of it and they make money off it?? I would assume someone makes money because of it. But we’ll take the FREE stuff right?

  • Lauren says:

As soon as I read your post, I logged into Klout. Klout Moments isn’t available yet for me. I need to bring 10 people to Klout to gain early access to features. I guess they’ll be rolling it out in the next couple of weeks.

  • Hi Lisa, I don’t visit Klout very often so this is new to me. I was shocked to see Twitter is 71% of my score and 0% is from Facebook. My Facebook wasn’t even connected – I had no idea. It looks like I can only connect as a person and not a page so that’s a bit disappointing but I’ll still get FB in there.

    • Lisa says:

Hi Brian, oh yes, only as a person and it appears if you add a page to it the Klout score goes down. (At least my own experience on Klout). Do you have your own personal FB account now? Thanks for coming by and checking it out :)

  • Corina Ramos says:

Thanks for sharing this information Lisa. I have a Klout account and admit I only peak at it once a week, that’s when I remember about it  But you’ve motivated me to go back and see what I can do to increase my Klout score and get some of them perks!

    Have a great day!

    • Lisa says:

My bathroom is almost filled with wonderful things from Klout Corina. Very neat program they have. I hope you get some perks. Once you do it takes a while for them to ship, sometimes I forget all about it and then the mail arrives with a mystery package. More fun!
